  5. Mate, top stuff! In getting the bluetooth fitted aftermarket, did you also get the Ipod integration (they call it the technology pack I think). In either case and if you have sh*te loads of music, you wanna get yourself Ipod integration so that you can control your Ipod through the head unit rather than from the Ipod itself. You can off course get an FM transmitter to run your Ipod through an FM frequency - all depends what you are after. As others have mentioned, I would not be concerned about the run in with the cruise control on / off. In a similar manner, I had a trip down to Sydney at xmas. The trip down so me running the motor in by changing between 5th / 6th gear (I got a manual) every 15 minutes. Pictures look great too mate - enjoy. Myself, I got the nitro colour, tinted windows, the silver on black interior and premium sound with technology pack. Even the wife & kids love the car - the kids (love em) call it a racing car!
  6. Congratulations mate, fantastic car yeah! Give us all some details of what you got, colour, options, auto / manual etc. I've had mine since December 08, now up around 11,000 ks on the clock - I love it, especially the turbo spool. How did you manage the run in period on the expressway. hope to hear from ya soon
  7. Mish, A great car, you will not be disappointed. As I understand it, the AU was a guinea pig, there is no comparison, bit like comparing a falcon with a bommadoore. I've got a manual FG XR6T with almost 10K on the clock, took delivery in early December 08. Took it on a run to Sydney for xmas and had no complaints about performance and driveability, even with a car full of kids and a boot full of luggage. I had a small issue about intercooler piping that blew off on a warmish boxing day after showing the father in law just what the car could do. Ford dealer on the central coast fixed it pretty quickly. I had the factory clamps replaced with decent worm drive type clamps at the complimentary (1500km) service when I got back to Brissy. Even now (after 10K, 6 months of driving) I find the 1st - 2nd gear change can be a bit "tricky" when you are giving it some. There's some tips on this site about keeping the throttle momentarily on as you press the clutch, this does ease the change process. I put it down to the amount of go that the low gears will get you up and running from a standing start. Beyond the 1st / 2nd change, no complaints, a great overall gearbox. I can't really comment on service costs, mine's all wrapped up in a novated lease costing. I'm with Senna on this, go and drive one, you'll be in heaven. I would recommend getting yourself the technology pack and premium sound. The technology pack gives you integrated Ipod controls through the head unit as well as blue tooth integration for most blue tooth phones. Small issue with full blue tooth compatibility is that not all phones will display full caller ID (ie - names, etc) - you will get over this. I found the following sites fairly helpful with providing info about the FG. Wheels -> do a search on FG http://www.wheelsmag.com.au Drive -> there is a link to some info about the manual - it does rate the 6 speed auto as the better. http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/MiniSite...mp;MiniSiteID=8 Web Wombat http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/news_...urbo-review.htm The Motor Report http://www.themotorreport.com.au/5625/2008...urbo-road-test/ Hope the above helps
  8. Hi Guys, I'm with Bunna on this one, I had a chance to look at the FPR; V8 engine assembly plant and the FPV garages in September last year whilst on an Orrcon corporate ride day at Phillip Island (the week after the L&H 500). The FPR setup and V8 assembly plants were the most interesting. You don't really see much in the FPV assembly sheds, just a shiny bunch of nice cars being put together. The best bit though was a couple of laps (around the Island) in the #6 FPR falcon sitting alongside Richo. Un f@#&ing believable.
  9. Just popped out to the car to check for you - so the unit was already plugged and controlled from the head unit. The playlist for your Ipod name seems to run alphabetically by song name. The playlists for the genres I have set up seems to play in the listed order but by artist name (ie - if I had say ACDC and the Angels listed under the Rock genre, it will play the ACDC songs before the Angels songs; the ACDC songs are listed in no specific order - the order corresponded to the way it was listed in Itunes on my macbook) Playing in the listed order also seems to happen for if I select say to play the songs of a particular artist. Does this help?
  10. It'll be interesting to see what your economy figures end up being. It'll depend naturally on how much time you spend in stop/start traffic. I'm out in the Bayside area of Brisbane, driving into the city each day for work. I don't sit in peak hour traffic but get a reasonable amount of stop/start action. I'm getting (using Shell V-Power) somewhere between 14-15 L/100km - worked out from the actual fuel fill v's the trip meter, just to sanitize the figures coming from the car computer. These figures I might add include the occasional "spurt" to keep the boy racers that are out there honest. Let us know how you get on after a couple of tank fulls. Highway economy won't be an issue for you. We travelled down to Sydney at xmas (picked the car up on 4/12/08). Got between 9-10 L/100km - great figures for an "everyday driver" with enough mumbo to put a smile on ya face.
  11. Zap, I had similar dilemmas, I got my xr6t on 4/12/08 prior to heading down to Sydney for chrissy. I too had stacks of cds but decided to bite the bullet and pick up one of the new generation Ipod classic 120GB units. We use it purely for music (mine, the wifes, and the kids). The Ford site doesn't list this 120GB ipod but the firmware for it is identical to the previous 160GB that the stores tell me was phased out due to the physical bulky size. I trialled one at a good guys shop prior to purchase just to be sure. The ipod and its integration through the head unit works a treat, beat's the hell out of controlling the ipod itself. Mates are saying the'ld buy a falcon just for this function! My line of thinking is why bother with CDs or MP3 disks. If you run this way, you'll need to make sure that you don't have a pre-configured equilizer setting at the ipod otherwise your audio control through the head unit will be biased and you won't be able to crank up songs with any serious bass for moments of sanity when the wife and kids are not in the car . Let us know what you end up running with. JAM
  12. Thanks for the feedback and links to other posts - much appreciated. I'll see what the boffins at Ford have to say. Happy New Year all!
  13. Hi Everyone, Just returned from a trip to Sydney & the NSW Central Coast (from Brisbane) for xmas in the FG XR6T I picked up on 4/12/08. Its a 6spd manual in Nitro Blue (tinted windows) with the Premium Sound System & Technology Pack. It was to be picked up on 28/11/08 but was delayed to the 4/12/08 as the guys at Ford took a couple of days to figure out why the XR6T was not developing any boost. After a couple of days they figured out it was the piping at the discharge of the intercooler that had come loose hence not delivering the air to the manifold. Drove like a dream down to Sydney and to the Central Coast until we arrived at the in-laws (could be karma!). On the eve of 26/12/08 it seemed that the lack of boost problem re-appeared. After consulting Custom Fleet on the 27/12/08, all I could do was wait until 29/12/08 to take it to the local Ford dealer on the Central Coast. I gave them the run down of the car's history as per above and they again discovered that the piping at the intercooler had come loose. About 30 mins later the problem was fixed and I was on my way with the XR6T doing what it should. The car was again a dream on the return trip to Brisbane. It's due for its 3000 service on the next week or so and I'll get Ford to check the piping out. Reason for the post it to see if anyone has experienced a similar problem with any of the XR6Ts out there? I'd be keen to get your feedback.
