  1. Spare Parts and Service are 2 complete different departments in different buildings and different management so its hard to know what goes on in each department. normally there is one interpreter that looks after service for parts and usually a first or second year apprentice. I didnt see the vehicle and am just going by what was told to me, if true this would of been a first for them also. It was a engineer from the Ford Motor Company that came in to look at the motor vehicle and it was his laptop with the program that picked up the flash tune and it would of been the engineer that passed on the information to them about being able to detect the flash tunes. Besides no one in their right mind would take a heavily modified vehicle in expecting warranty on a detonated engine unless they took all the goodies off and put it back to stock including the tune trying to hide the fact, that's what I was going to do if required until I heard about what happened. Its a brand new Vehicle and my first in over 10 years due to myself driving a company car all this time, and at this stage cant come to terms with the possibility of loosing all that money. Anyway, from the responses to this post I have come to the conclusion that there is a lot of truth in what they told me and they were not just pulling my leg and sadly at this stage I will give the tune a miss. Thank you everyone, you have been of great help, cheers.
  2. Hi everyone, great forum.Just a little about my self. I left a major Ford dealership in Sydney after working in the spare parts sales department for over 20 years about 6 months ago and as a going away present bought myself an FG XR6T.this is my first post even though I joined up about 5 weeks ago. So why Know? Because I was told something today and I am hoping that someone in this forum who is in the Ford servicing field can confirm this. I took my FG back in today for some warranty work, an engine sump leaking oil only after 7000 km, and apparently it will be the 3rd one that they have had in with the same problem, but that's not what concerns me. After telling a couple of my mates, who are the head mechanics there, that I was going to Flash Tune the car they warned me not to. Apparently The Ford engineers have now a program that can detect if a BFII or FG has ever been flashed tuned at any stage of its motoring life. They claim that they have had first hand experience with this and to talk to the poor bloke who brought his BFII XR6T in with a blown motor a couple of months ago wanting Ford warranty to cover the damage. Any warranty work costing Ford over a certain amount of dollars they send in an engineer to the dealership and he gives the go ahead to commence the work. Apparently the first thing this engineer did was to hook up the cars ECU to his computer and after a few minutes he came to the conclusion that the car had been Flashed tuned and detuned on a couple of different occasions and so declined the warranty claim and they have not heard from the bloke since even after threats of legal action from him. But it gets worst, they told me that Ford will be selling the software to the dealerships so that they can determine if trade ins on new cars have been Flashed tuned at any stage and if so it will devalue the car by thousands, Because if sold its the dealership that warrants the car and not Ford Motor Company, potentially saving them a fortune. They told me that a Flash Tuned car would loss all warranty on the whole motor, transmission, differential and drive shafts. Could someone in the know please tell me if its true or not, sadly if its true I will have to give up the thought of a Flash Tune. Thanks all
