  1. Genuine Ford 50th anniversary XR6T door mirror and door wiring on a 2008 FG . straight swap without any problems
  2. You will find that those mirrors are from Taiwan or China and for the rest I did mine a few weeks back. You will not be able to splice because the connectors for the mirrors are different in shape because of the extra two wires, the XR being oval shaped and the one with the indicator being square and they will not clip together. As for splicing there is no wire for the indicators in the Xr loom and to compensate you would have to find the wires from the main harness or use the existing wiring from the indicators and some how run it through into the door which is almost impossible . Back to the mirrors, there are a couple of companies importing these cheap sh*t copies and as they say "you get what you pay for and expect them to fail in a few months and the indicator to fill with water. also the ones from Taiwan I believe do not have a sensor on the bottom of the left hand mirror for the out side temp sensor and the one that does you will find will be about 10 deg out. Sorry bunna but on this one you have been incorrectly informed.
  3. Dont think the G6E mirrors will do the job but the Xr6 50th anniversary mirrors without memory (part no BG17682D & BG17683D) will do the job also the wiring will be required because the plug to the mirrors is different (part no BG14630F & BG14631B) expect to pay around $300 each for the mirrors and $100 each for the wiring , you will also need to paint the scalps of the mirror and expect $60 to $120 each depending on who sprays it and what type of paint brand they have. Hope this helps
  4. I think that you should go back to your salesman because if I'm not mistaking the rear floor pans are different and you will not be able to fit a mag without it sitting about 5 inches above the rest of the floor pan or at least that was the case with the BFs when I was in the Ford parts business.
  5. I cant believe how much sh*t some of you blokes put on Ford. like the post a few replies back said the LS1 site are far more exited about the Gt than some of the so called Ford enthusiasts here. and for you who think that the GT wont sell well here is a little news flash, 275 Coyote GT and GS orders have been taken so far by Ford even before its release on 5th of October and the waiting period from today stands at 12 to 16 week.
  6. I dont know of anyone in Melbourne that might be able to help you but I had the the same problem with my rims, wanted +42 offset but they only had 35 at the time and had to wait 5 weeks for 40 only so the blokes at the shop machined off the 7mm from the inner center, apparently its a common practice and was told that its what would of happened to the 40 offset to get them to 42.
  7. Ive got some question here, if all this hearsay about the Taurus is correct then what are they going to do for an eight? import the Mustang also at 120k plus? I dont think so. And what are they going to do with all the coyotes coming our way and all the wasted money fixing the drive line to accommodate them. How about Prodrive and the money they paid Ford Australia to set up shop? Prodrive wont be able to survive on just a FPV twin turbo Taurus. Yes it will happen one day but not in the near future and when it happens you can bet that they are going to use a universal floor plan that will accommodate not only front but rear and AWD and an engine bay that will fit 4, 6 and 8s and also left or right hand drive positioning. As far as Im concerned a magazine will make up any bullsh*t to sell copies on the day and if all there write ups were correct then Im sure by now we would also have cars that fly. The day Ford Australia goes front drive in the near future is the day that alot of current Ford owners will have a rear drive Expensive Daewoo in their garages instead and the rest a superior built Jap front wheel drive car at half the price and the boys at Ford know this.
  8. Yeah its a tough call, they are Maglia by Mono Leggera and believe me the picture does not do them justice . Saw them on a Lambo at a tire shop, I was getting new treads as he came in for a puncture fix. Ive seen a few Gallardos about but this one just looked awesome and even though his rear wheel was almost double the size of mine it was about the same . So if they are that good why am I in two minds about getting them????? 4 to 6 weeks to get them made an a couple extra for shippment and price???? $1900 each for fronts and $2100 for rears not including treads. Group buys anyone? Anyone Like I mentioned above they would have a carbon fiber effect on the center and would look like this
  9. Ok, saw these rims a couple of weeks ago and cant get them out of my head and am trying to justify the expense, I know that they wont be to everyones taste but hope that your comments will set me straight. the only difference to this pic and the ones I want is that the face of the wheel is finished in carbon fiber effect.
  10. Yeah they are good with BA to BF, but how many FG owners out there have found that their FG now idles (especially at start up) all over the place or now stalls and has developed exhaust popping after a tune with injectors producing 290 to 330rwkws? I know a couple on this site have because of their emails after my last post. If I was looking at 350rwkw plus I would say yeah go for a bigger set but for 300rwks what for??? you car does not need them and again for intercooler for 300rwkws what for???? it will more than do for a few laps of the track and then some more.
  11. Hey buddy, talking through experiance I had nothing but problems with bigger injectors in my Fg XR6 and ended up with F6 injectors instead . At the moment the car has 341 rwkw with the only mods being F6 intercooler F6 injectors and dump pipe.
  12. I know if I owned a new F6 I would be really pissed off by now, Why? because Ive spent an extra 15 to 20k over a T and when it comes time to sell or even a trade in in a couple of years time Ive got to compete with an excess of used police F6s in the market and you dont need to be very smart to realise when there is an over supply of anything then prices drop dramatically. So far this weekend traveling to Newcastle and to Wollongong Ive counted 6 police F6s
  13. In its day " the fastest 4 door production car in the world " A claim by Ford of having 225kw but most every one knew that it was l lot more that, Top speed of 230km/h and 0-100 in 6.4 secs even though they were clocked at 175 mph (281 kmh) at Bathurst . When raced at Mount Panorama they took 13 seconds off the lap record and remember they used to race them STOCK back then. In todays world Ford would need a car that would have at least 450kws to 500kws from factory be able to do the 1/4 in about 10 sec and 0/100 in about 4.5 secs to produce the equivalent to what the HOEY did back then. Yes they are a lot slower today than alot of cars on the road but what they did back then has earned them a reputation and a price tag with which today you can go out and buy 12 to 15 brand new GTs or for that mater F6s.
  14. There has been a lot written about the possibility of a GTHO even as far back as the EL falcon when Ford released the EL GT but to this day I believe that Ford will not ever release a car with the sacred GTHO badge stuck to its body, WHY?? 1. Ford Australia is not accustomed to prostituting its product like Expensive Daewoo do for the sake of a quick dollar. 2. Ford Australia will never produce a car that will rival the performance of the GTHO PHIII in its day, so why tarnish its legend. 3. Why would Ford put a GTHO badge on a FPV when FPV is mainly owned by the Poms (Prodrive)? The Phase III is the holy grail of Australian motoring history and that's proven by their million dollar plus price tag and thus the GTHO badge should rest with it. Putting a GTHO badge on a FPV would be the same as putting a GTHO badge on a supped up Ford Fiesta, its just plain wrong. But If ford was going to put a GTHO badge on a car then I think that the car would have to be something very special, maybe an AWD that will rip the quarter in 10 sec or sadly the very last couple of hundred GTs when they do away with the Falcon in place of a front wheel drive Import from abroad.
  15. Does not mean anything for the ute, the station wagon platform is that of the old Fairlane/ LTD and they are gone too.
  16. Simple, they screw the panel shops on repair rates and they are one of the few insurance companies that will not allow new "GENUINE" panels on your car even if its a few months old they will only allow recycled or non genuine panels ( read the fine print on your insurance policy) and then they force the panel beater to carry the life time warranty on repairs carried out on the car.
  17. I do Know someone here in Sydney, His name is Andrew and his business is AK Cartooning, send him an email at info@akcartooning.com.au he does amazing work and has alot of his art published in magazines, he also does a wicked airbrush imitation of carbon fiber panels.
  18. Drove past it at around 3.00 on Princes Hwy as the cop was booking someone. I stopped at a servo up the road for some fuel saw him again about 600 mtrs past the servo booking someone else. I guess these boys have to somehow justify their 70k rides to the taxpayer . Double demerit point weekend "OUCH"
  19. Just my 2 cents but how about these " Vertini Mclaran" They come in 19x8, 20x8.5, 20x10 and also in 22s and if later you want Brembos these fit over them.
  20. You will find that behind the fuel flap of the FG Turbos and the rest of the range there is a yellow tag stating " Ethanol(E10) suitable" Its whats in the tank when you pick the car up from the dealers and I remember reading some where FGs were designed and tuned especially for E10 and emission tests were also conducted using it. E10 burns cleaner and faster thus lower emissions levels. Remember each new model has tougher emission levels to meet than its predecessor.
  21. For guys that drive fords some of you sure put a lot of sh*t on the brand. to begin with its a KC or KE laser and with the exception of a few trim differences including front bar and grill its a rebadged MAZDA 323. and secondly Ive owned two different cars( Toyota and KF laser) which I was able to do the same, even open the door using a five cent piece all thanks to the assholes that broke into them by damaging the locks. and secondly any one can fiddle around with the internals of a lock to get that result and get there stupid video on youtube.
  22. Sorry fellas, but talking about a " storm in a teacup". Does it really matter if the red light cameras are now also speed cameras? just do the right thing on the roads and you will not have anything to worry about and for those that are losing valuable sleep over this issue of pending DOOM then just go out to any store that sells GPS systems and they will also sell fixed speed and red light warning GPS devices from as little as $130 that can be updated and will give you a warning from as far as 500 meter away from the camera if you wish. The high end ones also having school zones, Bus lane cameras and town entry warnings and they are legal all over Australia. My red light/ speed camera zones for NSW were updated over 3 weeks ago and last week got another update on red light cameras that are to be converted. Just on a foot note, who here realizes that speeding up to going through an orange light or not making an attempt to stop at one if there is time to do so carries exactly the same penalty as that of going through a red light? I didnt untill 2 years ago when I got booked for doing just that. And the offence?" disobeying traffic lights." If you ask me we should all be grateful that the camera flashes on the red and not the orange.
  23. I had the same problem with mine for the last 6 months. it all started after I disconnected the battery. same problem as you, it all looked fine on the ICC but no sound. took it to ford soon after but after one day in service they could not resolve the problem and asked for the car for an extra day, needing the car I said no and would rebook it. Finally got around to it last week and after another 2 days they finally fixed it. After taking out half the console and dash they traced the problem to the wires that lead into the ICC and later to the actual connector. Apparently all they did was unplug the connector and then replugged it and BINGO it all works fine now. they dont really know why it happened but they figure it worked itself loose or the disconnecting and reconnecting of the battery had something to do with it. Hope this helps
