  1. Daughters Polo had a similar issue. All sorts of random funny electrical things including just randomly shutting down. It was the earth cable to the engine. Replaced it and everything fine.
  2. Normal injector noise - forget about it.
  3. iPhone (like everything Apple) is proprietary. Android is open system. For that reason alone I would go Android. I use BB for work and it works well. We tried iPones out for work = hopeless, partinularly with Outlook sync. The missus has Galaxy S on Android. Works very well indeed. Very strong rumour that BB is switching to Android. Maybe there's a message there? Have many colleagues using HTC on Androiod and they are very happy with it. I think there are now more compelling reasons to not go iPhone. But try them all and make your own mind up.

    Surging

Plenty of other forums about this. Do a search. It is very common. I have found it worse on 95 rather than 98. Ford say they are trying to fix it but nothing yet.

    Gt 335 Or F6

Man , the choice will be hard. My 6T is fantastic, but I'm coming up to retirement in about 2 years (about the time my 6T would be due for replacement, 4 years) and want to have an enthusiasts car to just "keep" for fun and a few mods. So, do I keep the 6T and make it a weapon or fork out the 100K minus trade-in and use that? Then have something like a 5T for a daily drive (also serious fun!) I've owned 3 XR8's so I know all the reasons to go back to the 8 but what a decision. I think it's the faily big price hike to go to a 335 that's the killer. For a lot less than the exchange price I can really make the 6T a serious weapon and get the 5T as well!
  6. Don't do it! Angel eyes are hideous IMO and I have no idea why the "supercars" manus' do it. Yuk!

Looks like I caused the arguments - so I'll out of it! Go for it.

    Libya

I would normally totally agree with you, but that's not the way these things pan out. Many have differing opinions about many aspects of this "event." Yes, there are many who are not aware or don't care. That's their problem and may never change. If we are told something we believe is the truth, there is always someone who'll think it's a lie or a conspiracy. I just think it's such a complex issue with so many twists, turns and opinions. It will certainly turn into a Muslim vs the rest debate and the US desire to control world oil and all that carry on. We may as well start debating North Korea again and the "underarm incident" I think there are a lot of people with a lot of good opinions and everyone can probably learn something about what's going on. I'd be all in favour of that but I can see it turning into an agressive forum because someone will be upset by someone elses opinion and it just becomes regressive.

This is why I think this topic is a bit out of place in this forum.
  10. How much for the whole job. I'm out of warranty in 6 months and I'll be heading for a tuning shop immediately.

These sorts of topics can be very contentious and I don't know if this would be a suitable subject for a forum. But I guess that's the freedom of speech we enjoy, as against the people directly involved in this topic! I don't know what's real and what isn't. One thing really does stick out is that the Arab world generally is sick and tired of being controlled by self empowered blood-thirsty dictators and "royal" families with absolutely no interest in the prosperity of the people that they are supposed to look out for. Just looks like they've had enough and this is the time to jump on the revolution band-wagon. Being non democratic countries, they cannot change governments like we did on the weekend here. It has to be violent uprising unfortunately. There's no real winner in all this unless they go all the way. Failure in an uprising will make things worse for those who dared question their authority. What's next I guess.
  12. Sorry to hear of your problems. Early failures in the FG are not common that I've heard. My BAII XR8 had 2 news trannys, driveshaft and diff in the first 2 years I had it. After that it was perfect. I loved the XR8 so much that I stayed with Henry. My FG apart from this idle problem has been spot-on and the surging problem is a common issue and to be honest, you get used to it. As long as it's not damaging the drivechain is the important point. I'm still going to persue it once the idle is fixed, but I'm not expecting too much. I just wonder how bad yours is. The one comment I make to Ford about this is OK, if the ZF operation (surging) is normal, explain why it didn't do it when new and has only developed since about 10,000K's? Hmmmmmm, no explanation. Secondly, they never admit that the ZF has a surging issue even when you refer to all the posts on the web from Jag and BMW etc. They just do not acknoledge that there's a problem. This must be a deal with ZF I would say so there is no liability.
  13. Guys. The surging issue is a common problem and probably will never be fixed if it hasn't been already (just IMO). BTW I sent an email to ZF questioning them on the issue - no reply! The cold idle issue where the engine runs REAL BAD for the first 10 secs from cold is a known issue with some Turbos (I've mentioned in another thread) I have agreed with the dealer to wait for the cold idle problem fix from Ford before we look at the surging problem. FWIW, the surging problem seems to be less obvious. It has not been nearly as noticable in the last few weeks. I'm wondering if it's because the weather is getting cooler?????
  14. I have heard recently that when the govt changes on the weekend that the cleaners will be put through the RTA. Cannot come fast enough
  15. It's not designed to save fuel, just your life. So don't know.

  17. iPhones are a problem in lots of cars and it seems to vary user to user. My son's iPhone in his ute is unusable really. I have a Blackberry in the 6T and it is fantastic. My wifes Android in her car works fine. Some interesting figures out recently about mobile phones. 1. Android phones are the leading Smartphone 2. Nokia smartphones and next. 3. iPhone is a poor third and decreasing continually. Another thing I heard and not yet substantiated, but from a very reliable source, is that BlackBerry it ditching their proprietary system and moving to Android platform! This all says a lot to why people are falling way in droves from iPhone. Once you see through the gimics, they really are not that good.
  18. Guys, I posted the following issue on another Forum some time ago. "I've got all those problems and I will be sending an email to my local Ford guy tonight to book my car in to get it fixed. I also have another problem just shown up in recent days where when the car first starts from cold and I put it in D with foot brake on. It lurches in and out of gear giving the feeling of brake on and off and on. Lasts about 5-10 secs. Frightened the S---T out of me. Anyone got this probelm?" I took my car into Ford yesterday and spoke to the SM and a mechanic. Described the symptom below and they confirmed that it is a known fault on SOME FG6T's and Ford are aware of it and are working on it, but no fix yet. Another way to see if you've got the problem is don't put it in D. Just lightly rev it in P or N and for the first 3-4 light revs, it will sound like it's backfiring or going to stall. I think there may be varying levels of the problem. Sounds shocking, and I told the SM that I hope this is not damaging the engine. I have found that just let the car idele for a minute and it's fine. Certainly an engine management issue. It only happens for me in the morning when really cold and only lasts 5-10 seconds. After that it's fine. They are going to call me when Ford has a fix. Cheers
  19. I hire a lot of cars in my job. So I drive SV6's often, Camry and Aurions including Sportivo version , and XR6's (non T) My wifes got a Pug, Dsughter a Golf GTi. Brother has a Beamer 325 etc etc. The FG is a class act. Don't be fooled. The T just cannot be matched in that group. A "little" more attention to detail and the difference would be significant. Of that group the Toyotas are the most uninspiring heap of that I have ever driven and to be honest the SV6 is not far behind IMO. That standard engine is aweful and the stupid handbrake and boring interior. (haven't driven the latest one with the dangerous command centre or whatever they call it)
  20. Let's try this again. Systems back on line. Man - there is so many discussions about the future of the Falcon that we need to really look at the issues. I agree with most of the sentiments on the forum about what the issues are but I think the long term future of Falcon is dependant on a number of things in no particular order. 1. The chassis, is there a market worldwide for a RWD chassis? The FG is probably the best RWD chassis Ford has right now and should be the basis of any large RWD chassis that Ford makes worldwide. Point 1. will they want to do that. 2. AWD chassis. Adapt the current FG chassis for AWD on a global plan. We all think this would be a great move AWD Falcon powered by an I6 and new V8. WOW 3. Is there still a market (worldiwde) for a large family car? In the US - yes. In Aust - yes but obviously decreasing significantly by recent trends. 4. Next and very important Ford is making money and GM isn't - big issue! Many say that Expensive Daewoo is making money locally and that probably remins to be seen, but when the parent is bleeding heavily, it will look to cut costs. I would be more worried about the future of Expensive Daewoo irrespective of how many they sell. There is a fundamental problem with losing money year on year and being heavily in debt to the US Govt. 5. The Eccoboost technology is coming and will be in Falcon. It may be the saviour for it. WHo knows? One has to ask is why are people going away from large cars? Is it really the cost of fuel????? When you see just about every bloody second mother driving their kids to school in an SUV. There are still plenty of V8's sold. The ecconomy of the bigger engines is getting better and better..................... I somehow think it's more than that but I don't know what. SO fore Ford there is a lot of hard work to do... For Expensive Daewoo I think it is actually worse, but that's another subject. 1. There is absolutely no doubt, and this is backed up by every independent test, that the FG is a better product than Commodom. 2. Yet why does it struggle to sell against Holden? Marketing? and don't waste your time saying quality of service etc etc, because Expensive Daewoo is just as bad if not worse. 3. Expensive Daewoo will always outsell Falcon. It's just the way it is, and spending millions of bucks on advertising won't change that. I call the the VB syndrome. Why do people still drink VB? It has to be the worst drop in Australia and people still buy it even though there are much better products out there at similar prices.................it's the same with Expensive Daewoo and I will never be able to work out why. So, I see that all Ford have to do is a few of the basics to remain viable. 1. Involve Australia more in the design of the global platforms 2. Inprove their services, and weed out the cowboys. 3. Improve the quality of the product to the customer. This directly relates to lowering cost and improving market appeal. 4. Most important and will happen if they get the above right ..... remain profitable. Will the Falocn remain? Let's see. One thing is for sure, the I6 will remain for sometime yet I'll keep the faith. I hope others will as well.

    Nsw Election

I also agree that whatever happens, this current lot should be sacked and their over generous pensions cancelled!
  22. When mine hits 0 I've usually got about 5L left. It was the same as my BAII. I start looking for fuel when it hits zero. The fuel used is the most accurate and usually within a max 2 Litres from what it takes at the bowser.
  23. Jump all over them on this. I haven't bought a 2nd hand car for quite a while. The last one was an AUII XR8 ute for my son from a Expensive Daewoo dealer in Paramatta. But I got an NRMA inspection for that and all cars I have bought before that and they uncovered a number of issues that the dealer fixed up before I bought the car. Oil leaks and wheel bearing problem that were not obvious at the time. I think NRMA still do a pretty good job for the unknowing. Certainly getting it checked by an independnet organisation or mechanic is a must! Worth worth the couple of hundred bucks outlay.
  24. Chris. I believe you are located in Sydney I don't have a spare laptop otherwsie you would be welcome to it. Does it have to be a laptop???. If no-one on the forum can spare one there is a weekend computer market each Sunday in Sydney at North Rocks Public School where you can pick up pretty good 2nd hand units for a few hundred bucks. Some even come with warranty. Might be a good option if you can't get one off the forum. Good luck.
  25. Have had a couple of chats with the Service Manager (he actually emailed me on a Sunday) and gave the usual stock excuses. It's going in next week overnight so they can check the cold surging problem out. He said he was contacting ZF about the supposed fix for the surging complaints but he was not aware of it at the time. Who out there has been told that a fix is coming from ZF and who told you?
