  1. Here's my current options for a mid to end 2014 buy. Currently have 2009 6T. I've delayed replacement for over a year already waiting to see what happens. New Falcon skin XR8 or whatever variant on the V8 front happens. I'm not concerned about quality. Wait another year for a Mustang.(if it comes at reasonable price this will the be preferred choice right now) AMG A45 hot hatch. (man this is enticing. Probably next choice after the Mustang option) Run-out current model FPV. Rumour of a new RS Focus coming. I think I've decided to keep the 6T anyway as I love it to death! I don't think I'm the only one weighing up these sorts of options. /
  2. Maybe we should merge the 2 Mustang threads now running on the forum?
  3. I'll sign up. V8 only. Even if the Falcon was still going I'd get one. Don't need a back seat. Rode in a GT in the US earlier this year. Gotta have one when they come here. Price for performance versions needs to be in the range covering XR6T through to GTP and they will sell. The new look of the next year model will be great, some artist impressions already showing up on the web. Taurus also looks good in performance trim, They may bring both models here. The need for a 4 door performance cruiser like Falcon may be waning. Which is the reason they are dropping Falcon (and will eventually drop Commodore) in the first place. However importing them is different to building them here. If they sold as many Mustags here as they are Falcons (even now) Detroit would be pretty happy I think. Next 6-12 months will be interesting.
  4. Yeah, I'll see what I can do in the next day or 2. Bit busy right now.
  5. I recenty put a Herrod CAI on my FG6T and I noticed a difference straight away. Probably due to the new KN filter more than anything but the low end torque and responsiveness is noticably better. The guy I bought it off said you would have to Dyno the thing to really see differnce and it's probably in the area of about 5-10Kw and similar NM gain. I think I am certainly getting that and perhaps more. The induction noise is also quite increased and nice to hear under acceleration. I also have an SS big mouth which I had before the Herrod, and even though there is a "gap" between the 2 I'm sure the funneling of air from the grill up into the entry pipe of the Herrod is giving me more performance again. The Herrod is a very nice piece of kit and very well built. You can find pictures of them installed on the net and on this forum. Might actually pix mine with the big mouth if I get a chance. Before I got all this I rang the Insurance company AAMI to see if this would impact insurance premium and they said no. Only more significant mods like chips and other undercover mods increase the premium. Even though my car is out of warranty the insurance company said that these mods should not void warranty as there are no actual engine mods happening, all we are doing is channeling more air into the engine. I checked my dealer and they agreed with that but I guess it would pay to double check with your own dealer and get it in writing. I think the CAI mods are very worthwhile and for about $500 you do notice a difference. Cheers
  6. Ah! I didn't consider these things were happening while you're driving. Low battery issues usually happen when you start. Doesn't meant that it wouldn't cause it, but anyway one possibility gone. Good luck.
  7. 100% spot on. Same happened to me with AC. New battery = no probs! Yes there is an AC fuse in the compartment just behind the battery with all the other fuses. But it won't be that. When the voltage goes low all sort of problems happen on the FG.
  8. I got 40K from the original Dunlops, but they were really gone at that stage. I moved to KU31's and have been very happy to date. Very sticky in wet and dry. Bit on the noisy side though particularly on some common road surfaces. On others they are OK. I've had P-Zero Nero (very over rated tyre in my opinion. Not happy at all with wet performance) Toyo's were pretty good also but less sticky than the KU31's. When my current tyres run out I see no reason to go with any other than the KU31's (or whetvew they are replaced with by then) Their performance for the buck is really hard to challenge.
  9. I've had KU31's on for about 15,ooo K's and for overall grip dry and wet they are one of the best I've had. Not sure how they will go for longevity though. If I get 25- 30Kms I'll be happy enough. They are noisy in my opinion compared to others.
  10. Bit of a silly topic actually. The Turbos will be round for years, then replaced with Yank Turbos and then whatever follows. The Turbo is still probably the best invention ever after the ICE and Fuel Injection themselves, and is really only recently (relatively speaking) seeing it's true value in engine design. As for Ford, they will probably outlast all the rest of the Yank manufacturers, but I certainly won't have to worry about that.
  11. Wonder why our car industry is in crisis? Stunt or no stunt. Every Govt car and Company car for that matter, irrespective of what purpose, should be Australian built.
  12. I had one of these and no problems. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect and try it again. If still there you have a fault with it I'm afraid. How old is your battery? Low capacity batteries cause all sorts of funny problems with BA's and FG's. BTW, I had a low battery on my FG and was getting Air con issues till I changed it. Now perfect.
  13. My poition is becoming desperate. I want to upgrade from my 6T FG before end of the year. F6 or 335 GT? The dealer is offering great prices for current models, and with the new updated model still some time away. What to do? Keep the 6T (greatest car I've ever owned and nothing wrong with it) and wait for the new model? Take the chance and get a good price for a current model? Probably a 335. Or go for a Merc A series 45 AMG due at the end of the year? More money for the Merc(up to 100K) but looks the dog's bollocks and will go like the clappers. I'm really seriously considering getting a 335 now!
  14. Why do you want to reformat the hard drive? What's causing your concern? Restoring the hard drive or reformatiing it is easy (totally different functions with different results) Restore comes from a factory image on the hard drive or a separate disc. Reformat creams the hard drive to manufacture state (and gets rid of the factory image if it is there as well) If you format the drive, make sure you have an operating systems disc (Win XP,7 etc licensed) to get your computer running again. Depending on the vintage of PC it is. Not familiar with Acer at all. But a PC is a PC. If you format it from the command line make sure you use the \s command so the system will see the CD drive when it boots. When it boots to the command prompt you should be able to see the C and D drives. All sweet.
  15. Fuel used is the only trip computer readout that provides any accuracy. When mine reads 0 kms left I can usually only squeeze 58Ltrs in the tank. It hold 68. So there is the indication of the inaccuacy. However the fuel used vs fuel I put in is noramlly maximum of 2 ltrs out. So I always use fuel used as the true indicator of what's going on. If you believe it and I do, the normal tank range based upon about 13.5Lt mixed driving I get means there's about 500Km tank range. I'm usually looking for a servo when my car hits 450K's per tank. Mine's an FG late 2008 model.
  16. If the Falcon is only continuing until 2016, then for Ford to extract the maximum value out of the brand they can before that date, they would need to make any big change this year preferred, or next year latest. If they only do a cosmetic and not touch the engine room , I think they will miss the boat almost completely. I need to buy a new car sometime this year and so the word is than July or so is when we will hear what's in store for the next Falcon including what was FPV. You would think that whatever that is, the price to pick up a current model then will be very attractive. I agree with Bunna, whatever the next release, it will have all the bling like the Focus has, and they don't even need to make any major changes to the exterior, but it is time to put a bit more under the bonnet and down the drivechain. If they did that alone it could swing me to an F6. 350Kw?
  17. Now, it looks like a Mazda from the rear.
  18. Korea. That's where GM invests. There's little Euro infleuence in the new car. Opel is trying direct marketing here I see. Not sure if it's the only large scale GM owned Euro brand, but they have a good presence overseas. Ford is still heavily involved in European design even though the Focus and Fiesta are now made in Thailand. The Focus and Fiesta that my wife and daughter have were built in Germany. Jury is out I think on if the Thailand builds are as good as the German built cars.
  19. I hope you're right. I'll watch and see, but the formula is the same, just differnet car bodies.
  20. Never had to replace one, but understand many have!
  21. Having owned both I honestly cannot see how people think the FG is not that different to the BA/BF. They are vastly different and more reliable. In fact I cannot remember one thing that's the same on both vehicles.
  22. I know where you're coming from but Taurus then and now are two totally different scenarios. Then Falcon was still a good package and selling OK. This was just a brain explosion at the time. If Ford decide to bring a "large" family car into Australia, it has to be Taurus or Fusion variants. Focus and Fiesta are already best sellers. I beleive Focus was the best selling sedan globally last year - or close to it. So global branding works. But will Australians by family cars any more? Eccoboost is very successful. They just should have brought it here a year earlier but the net result will be the same.
  23. Below 2013 Fusion SHO, rumoured to be the next import. If this aint better looking than the Commodore, then I'll give it away. Wish I could get it now.
  24. Sorry I don't Ugly, but let's see how they go. In the end same regulations, Kw, same everything means the best car setup, team and driver on the day wins. Not the car manufacturer just the setup and who's driving it. Just like last year, and the year before, and before. Same boring stuff.
  25. Cruize front end, Camry back end. US style interior, Check out Taurus SHO pictures for proof of that. In or around 2016 Late model camira is gone just like Falcon. They've just started the migration earlier. They might keep the name but the car will be a global platform probalby built in Thailand or somewhere else. (reported in the press last week) Certainly not Australia. So Ford really are not the barstards about the Aussie motor industry as many would think. Expensive Daewoo is just as guilty, but Ford just had the guts to talk about it up front. FG styling still cuts it as far as I am concerned, and let's see how HSV (the worst body kits in history) do to it. Once you see the "base" car in the flesh that's when the warts will be seen. The 2013 Fusion looks the dogs bollocks compared to the Commodore, but each to their own. I would like to think the new Late model camira is better than the predecessor..... it usually is, and it will be a good car by world standards. But let's not get too excited. The writing is on the wall for the entire industry. I just hope the knowledge and experience we have here from both Ford and Expensive Daewoo is not wasted in the shift of manufacturing overseas. The next (maybe final) Falcon? There will be one for sure, and I hope it will be special, but let's just see shall we. I wouldn't be rushing to jump ship right now, cos you might just miss that something special. Oh, BTW . A wanker engine "start" button. I remember all the Expensive Daewoo wallies out there years ago sayiong it was a joke. Looks like it's OK for them now considering just about all major car makers have now adopted it. The start button and a key doesn't make sense I agree, but you start somewhere. Also BTW we have a Focus Titanium with park assit. Works well and have NEVER EVER used it. Hmmmmmm.
