  1. CV joint or maybe drive shaft. Does it so it all the time or just under laod?
  2. Glad to hear it! Geez.
  3. Some anger management needed here.
  4. Still cannot understand why people continue to say that Mustang is replacing Falcon. It's clearly a different package. It is stupid to try and sell cars when no-one wants to buy them. So why is Expensive Daewoo shutting down? Why is Toyota shutting down. Ford had the balls to announce it first cos they had to. All manufacturers are going for global platforms. It's the only way they will survive. If Ford decides to bring Fusion or Taurus to Australia, that would be seen as a replacement for Falcon. who knows, they still might. Right now if you want a 4 door sort of family sedan from Ford locally, the Mondeo is it and just quietly it's a bloody nice package. It is true that for now Mustang will be the only performance car on offer once the XR6T and 8 are gone but when you add Focus RS to the mix in 2016 you would think they might have another performance sedan in the wings. Talk is around about an SVO version of another yank car. Let's wait and see. Meanwhile I'll be confirming my order for my Stang GT at the end of the month. It will be real hard to say goodbye to my 6T but we have to move on.
  5. I've replaceed a wheel bearing. Was "scraping" when going round corners. Check shocks and mounts.
  6. Ultratune quoted me $250 to fix a crank case leak. Is that the same as you guys are talking about?
  7. Thanks. He also confirmed slightly less power as well. I agree that it is a kick in the nuts for us loyals. XR8 has a lot going for it, but having had an FG since 2008 I would have hoped for a bit more change to the interior. This is the biggest thing steering me towards Mustang. BTW he also said GT Stang will be closer to $70K
  8. I've been holding out with the new car purchase 2 years longer than normal waiting for the Mustang and also looking at the XR8. I have a good and honest sales guy I've dealt with for 10 years and over many months now talking to him about what options I have to get back into a V8. There's emotion (as well and value for money etc) in considering the XR8, and the chance to own Mustang at a higher price is still there. In a discussion last week my "honest" sales guy said that XR8's are only on limited supply. Currently 1,500 only will be built, and already demand will see these disappear very quickly and most dealers will only get a small allocation of cars. They may decide to build more, but how would you ever know. There will be no such limit of supply on Mustang. It appears that Ford are planning XR8 supply numbers to exhaust in line with the arrival of the Mustang Q3 this year. So any thought of Ford selling XR8's and Mustang GT's side by side until 2016 when Falcon stops is total BS. So his word to me was if you want an XR8, get your order in real quick. He's know's I'll buy a Mustang already so why would he make that comment when he knows I probably won't buy one anyway? There seems an element of truth in what he says. I find it hard to believe that Ford would even consider limiting supply of the last ever V8 performance Ford built in Australia to 1500, or in fact any limit at all. It's likely I will buy a Mustang cos it's all I need now (2 door) but the XR8 is a very compelling package and a chance for people to pick up outstanding value performance sedan with space for a family and rocket like performance. Has anyone else heard of this limited supply? If someone from Ford is monitoring this forum, please give us the facts about this issue. Cheers
  9. On the track. 100WRMS just means that the speaker can disipate 100W RMS( as output from the amp which is the correct measurement of power. Not peak, or peak to peak) into an impedance of 8 Ohms without blowing up. The amp also needs the load not to blow up! Assuming that's what the impedance is. The distortion specification of the amp and speaker at that sound level is the critical issue. It's loud but sounds crap! The Amp output is just 100W into 8 Ohms but they both much be able to handle the voltage swing to reduce the distortion and then the speaker be able to handle it. Speakers have different impedances. Usually 4 Ohn or 8 Ohm. The efficiency of the speaker determins how much power from the amp it needs to create a given air pressure which is "volume" Higher impedance speakers are usually higher efficiency as their coils are denser and move easier as a result of power input. The ability of the speaker coil to move the speaker diaphram (distance) creates the "volume" So Higher impedance speakers generally more efficient but take more power to make them work. This is the pure mechanics and electronics of it all. But newer technolgies from these very smart companies like Bose really have mastered the art of audio efficiency and making big sound from smalll speakers. It's a bit of a black art really.
  10. Mine was reading reliably 6 deg lower than it was outside and has been for about a year of more. The sensor I'm told does connect to the AC but how I don't know. Maybe they did something else to the AC when they replaced the sensor, but there was definately a marked difference. Wheen the OS temp hits 37 deg it automatically switches to recirc to improve performance. Even on those hot days you could hear the fan decrease speed once it got cool.
  11. My air con in my 2008 T has been "OK" over the years. Replaced the outdoor temp sensor last month ($130 from Ford) and you would not believe the difference much much better! Really cold and more efficient. Even on the couple of 40 deg days recently it worked and worked well..
  12. Let's look at the possible "performance" new car lineup to be available around the end next year to choose from: Fiesta ST Focus ST Focus RS - loook certain to make a return. Falcon XR8 Falcon XR6T Mustang Eccoboost Mustang GT This is a fairly impressive lineup to suit a lot of budget spread. We are a little spoiled for choice maybe. When Falcon goes I have a sneaking suspicion there might be another one lurking around. Maybe based upon a 4 door larger chassis. Maybe a Fusion based to replace Falcon. Then again maybe those days are over when the last Falcon goes and a performance based SUV type might be the go. In which case they don't have to wait to release it. When Falcon goes, the choice will reduce considerably and it leaves a hole in the product line. This is why I think there will be something more coming and it would need to have 4 doors.
  13. Man, I'll be getting a GT and probably budgeting $60K -$65K for it. Wonder how much they would ask for one of these? Would be over a $100K surely. I recon these will be US based only.
  14. More info. K's done? Turbo or not (your post indicates it's not Turbo but just confirm) The symptom is not normal. Traction light should only light when you break traction. The thump indicates you need to look at driveline, transmission, diff , driveshaft or all of them. Performance mode does harsh-up the changes. That's why number of K's is important.
  15. Keeps the turbo in "spool land" longer for faster response. Holds gears longer for more power and torque delivery. Chews a lot more gas. Changes can be harsh. I think it only changes into 6th at 140Kph or something like that?
  16. Would you buy an FG when you know the new one is due November? Don't think so! Holdens have gone up since the new model and you can expect Falcon to do the same. This will be the end of the both of them. But would not expect it to be as higher numbers as the Holdaen as Ford is not equipped to sell that many anyway as has not been for years. Still it will be interesting to see how the sales figures go and it will be related to the price points. If XR8 is in that magical 50K region it will be outrageously good value performance car. I hope they do well but stranger things have happened. Ford also has a big markleting problem in that they announced Mustang coming in a year. That will stop a lot of people (me as well) who don't care about 2 door vs 4 door from outlaying on XR8/6T until they see and drive the Stang!. I think the XR8 external is looking the goods. The running gear will be fine as it always has. I was sceptical about the interior, and though it's OK, I think Ford should have done a bit more. But see in the flesh is still needed, the drive will be awesome I'm sure and that itself may be enough to win over a lot of buyers. Anyway, I think I saw actual pull handles on the front door?????? WOW. As for Stang, it will be something else I think (hope)
  17. This sounds quite strange. We are building with MJ and we are about to start the actual build. The plans that have been required to be submitted and received council approval have been intense, with council requiring a number of changes and we are talking about very small tollerances. The position of the slab on the block is the #1 importance when it comes to council requirements and they often ask the builder to move the slab for some compliance reasons. This has happened to me before. In a lot of cases it's last minute. Any changes to the position of the slab would be contained in the final construction plan that you sign off on when you finish all the colours, final tender price etc. This would include the final council stamped and approved plans and the last step before they start the build. The website will have those plans and approved documents to view (Hills Shire does) Check those documents before you take any action as this doc will show any boundary clearance changes the council (or certifier) has requested. Those final documents you should have signed and that is what the builder is required to build. I have noticed that there are +- 100mm tollerance statements on the plans. They are from the builder to council. Not sure if council accepts that or not, but maybe they do. The slab height is very important and that is set with a laser. Also MJ have a policy of a first inspection (and first progress payment) either before or after the slab is poured (form work done) so as to check how many piers you need and such like. But anyway if the final plans say 700mm then that's it. However not sure where you are building but in Sydney on certain sizes blocks the min clearance on the side is 900mm, but I know 700mm is OK in other areas based upon the size of the blocks. Check your council Basix and 88b requirements and make sure of your position. I would not expect a large builder to make such a fundamental mistake, but there's always a first time for everything. As for council approval of such a mistake - no comment here, councils have a habit of turning a blind eye to certain things. Particularly if criticism could be directed at them also. Please let us know how you get on! Good luck.
  18. Hmmmm! I'm starting to like it a lot. I think these shots better show off the external and proportions of the car. It's already starting to look better than the Crappydore, and you can certainly see Mondeo and global styling infleuence, which is not a bad thing. I still think the intereior will be the potential killer for me. They have to do something significant to change it from FG to win me over and I'm not just talking gadgets and technology. With Mustang not arriving till Q3 next year (rumoured) and my choice will be between Mustang GT, XR8 or A45 AMG, I have to wait till Stang arrives to decide. I'll drive the XR8 when it arrives and then just wait for Stang. If Ford price the XR8 and Mustang sensibly then they should sell a lot of them.
  19. Mine's inaccurate by about 6 degrees. Ford quoted me $130 to fix it. For $130 I'll probably get them to do it.
  20. If the interior looks same as the FG I'm afraid the XR8 will lose out. I don't mind the exterior, but seeing in the flesh is a must. I know it will drive and perform well. I would never buy a Commodom because I have never been a fan. It will be XR8, Mustang GT, or if they both don't cut it when I drive them , an AMG A45........ That I have driven and it is an absolute mind blowing weapon! But a bit hard on the ride..................:( There's compromises everywhere. I'm hoping the Mustang will tick all the boxes.
  21. Fsalcon looks Audiish! Expensive Daewoo looks like a Camry.
  22. Agree the pic could have been better, so will need to see it in the flesh. I've put my name down for a Mustang GT, but will have a serious look at this when it's released. I think it's success may be gauged by what they've done to the interior. If it's too much like the FG then they will probably lose a lot of support that they might have got. I think the rest of the car will look great from what I have seen, but let's see it on the road first before getting too critical.
  23. CAI = no insurance premium problems. Most are good. I Have Herrod and it's been a great $600 spent.
  24. You're probably hearing injector noise. Normal. Should be there all the time. If it comes and goes then it's a differnet issue.
  25. Yes they are. Recently put on Khumo KU 39's and so far they are fantastic value for money. Monumental grip in all weather. Still early days though., they recon they don't wear well. We'll see.
