    Low Spark

popped into workshop today ... coils are good. so is all the below. even checked the simple stuff like general earths, and if the battery was fully charged etc. im thinking I will need igniters, like what M&W sell. that will get the spark up. unfortunately at the moment, the technical guru for Motec (Glen Baker) is away for work, so is unreachable, so I have to wait 2 weeks before he can give some suggestions.

ok thank you for that I will try to have a look at that today
  3. im running 6x 2433cc as an initial methanol based fuel system. then you have to use alcohol tolerant fuel pumps, remembering that alcohol lowers the HP rating of the fuel pump, etc

didnt know that... ill double check that the coils have been ground through the ecu (motec). yeh on the capri
  5. its a 1.5:1 ratio. 10 mm up on the coilover = 15mm up on the guard. unlike other car models, the teins actually wind up to raise the car, which is strange, as on Nissans and toyotas, up = down. lol

    Low Spark

ok awesome. wasnt sure if MSD or similar do a coilpack I could retrofit or something. basically, we have these... 195psi in each 6 cylinders, 20 deg of timing good oil pressure, good fuel pressure, tried 2 sets of spark plugs, one being the factory Iridiums, and the other being copper plugs, it does the occasional bang, but just wont fire (and start up) ... but when it does backfire, its a 2m flame and people in other workshops come out because they think a car has crashed haha. the spark is just weak, but its not the plugs, so unless im missing something obvious that ive overlooked, im looking towards coilpacks.

im having spark issues, plugs are good (and have tried a new plugs etc), so im thinking it could be coilpacks. what are my options with coilpacks to suit the 4L? are the factory (visteon) ones still the best bet? or have aftermarket coilpacks now been developed?
  9. im in jaapn... home in a week. id like it ready asap. getting tired of it slowly getting worked on :(
  10. it sure is well my mum has a Ute, its faster than my XR8 :( haha I dont mind, how you going? beat me to it. Dom is doing my FG's exhaust, the people who recommened him (Rob @ MTE, Gerrin @ Anytime Towing, Jeff with XH50WA) couldnt speak any better about him !
  11. steve, be nice to stef, she isnt lonely, im sure her house has a washing machine PS: anybody keen on a coastal cruise (easy, leisurely, simple) when I get back from japan? I may or may not have straight pipes getting done
  12. manual FG sedans <3 axle tramp. people say coilovers help, I didnt notice a difference. one method is proven... more power = less tramp.
  13. indeed I am. but we are waiting for trains n sh*t haha
  14. shami, your wheels will fit EASILY to correct Andrew (dont hate me for it ) ive got, 19x10 +10 front, 19x10.5 +23 rear but with camber and tyre stretch. unsure how the rear 10.5" rims would sit on the FG ute, but I can try them on the F6 (ute) when I get home (2 weeks) if you want
  15. asian looking bloke.. hmmm sure it wasnt a blue ute?
  16. raffles + bewbz .. that would be nice ! im planning on taking my cold to Japan, allowing to spread and form into a kickass strain and letting it decimate all
  17. haha that is Daisy. a hammer couldnt even get that dent out... China's finest right there! heard he is having a lovely enjoyable time in Kalgoorlie at the moment
  18. krazy, FG guards can take way wider tyres and rims than B series
  19. ive got a MalWood Ace Option 3+ clutch in my TR6060, it's help up to 50,000km of hard driving and extensive motorsport (drifts, grip, and drags) which ive dumped clutch a LOT. and it's still going strong. the weakpoints on the gearboxes are the synchros. ive destroyed all the synchros for 2nd and 4th gear. (at the point of breaking them, there wasnt an option of rebuilding box with individual parts, could only buy a new box, so we removed the debris and put box back together, so I could break it bigtime )
  20. spotted a bovine leaving a mess on North Lake Rd ...
  21. maybe give the Toyo R1R's a go .. way better than the 36s, but they are still street tyres. got quoted $1400 for 2x245/40/R18 and 2x265/35/R18
  22. the Corsa's cant really compare to the 888s, apart from the 888s being a softer tyre, they are a lot better as we know im trying Michelin S8C compound slicks next event, so ill let you know how those go with grip levels VS time taken to get to temperature
