  1. Ahh yeah it was a private road !! In my defence the only illegal thing was the take off pace! I was at a set of lights on a 100 k zone of a highway!! So nothing too illegal Yes I did beat the 350Z on take off and to 100!! This guy thought he had it, people just don’t realise how good these cars are. But back to it, yeah I am going to speak to the mechanic about it when the service is due and have a service completed on the gearbox also. Just to be safe I think.
  2. Nahh not that I have noticed, I have only ever noticed it in 1st gear this one time. I haven’t really gotten under it since. But only first! The car itself has 59980 k’s on it. I bought it at 57000 so I have not had a service completed on it yet. However the dealer advised me that all mechanicals where checked and cleared. Not sure if it was or not. Forgive my stupidness (I am a little tiered and not thinking straight) but when you say “flaring” do you mean miss firing in the gearbox?? Cheers, DJ
  3. Ok. So the other day I took of at the lights in manual mode to beat a 350Z (mind you I did) but when I shifted from first to second it appeared that the gearbox delayed the shift. When I changed gears the car would have been sitting on about 5000rpm maybe a few more, but it felt as if it hit the limiter before changing gears. Needless to say I myself!! The change went through ok and the car kept its paces but to me it felt weird. Has anyone here had this happen? What is the top speed you can do it 1st gear? About 50 or 60 k’s?? When do others change from 1st to 2nd, is there an optimal range? When would you change at the track?? Cheers in advance all! DJ
  4. Yeah I agree. Mine is a daily driven and I enjoy it every day. That said though, weekends I treat it to a wonderful clean and massage
  5. GGG’s I didn’t realise boost cut in that early. I am thinking about getting a turbo timer fitted just for safety sake. I have noticed that most T’s have em’. What do you all think? Worth while investment? Yeah I have been letting the car sit for 30 secs or so before I take off. However I have still noticed that gear changes are a little sluggish (even driving like miss daisy) when cold. But this does in fact improve when warm. So I have put this down to just cold oil. I will be discussing this with my ford dealer at next service though. Once the warranty runs out I will be having some mods completed such as tune, cold air, rods etc. so this will hopefully improve a few things. I.E. Fuel econ, power and better cold temp starts’. However I am aware that oil needs to warm up. I am just a little apprehensive given this is my first T. What to look after it. DJ
  6. If you don't mind me asking, I noticed that you are located in Perth (like me). I was curious as to who your new tuner is??
  7. It maybe the fact that I am really, really tiered but I would have thought 13.6L/100KM is better than 16.3L/100KM for city driving?? That to me is more economical than when stock?? Correct me if I am being stupid here!!
  8. Hi all, I recently bought a XR6T and I wondered how other peoples went on cold mornings. Being the first cold morning that I have driven it, I noticed that the turbo didn’t like the cold? Now I am guessing this is something to do with the fact that the engine temp was still cold and the turbo requires heat??? Am I right? Never having owned a turbo before I am not sure!! Once the car warmed up it appeared ok?? Also are the BF’s set to hit boost around 2700rpm? DJ
  9. Hi all, I have just purchased a 2007 BF XR6T 6sp Auto sedan with 57,000k’s on it. Couple of questions – would you say the trip computers 16.4l/100k’s is about right or would you think that a tune would be handy. This is just normal driving nothing major. At that rate I think I will get around 412 – 450k’s, toughly. Would you say this is ok? I would think this is ok if you were doing a bit of booting around. Which this wasn’t at the time!! Also as a side note, what do other peoples XR’s idle at, mine is around 900rpm give your take a little!! DJ
  10. Thanks for the replies. Yeah, the one that I am looking at is a 6 sp Auto. I have heard from heaps of people that the Auto is better to go with. Is there a particular reason? Obviously personal preference comes into it, but is there a technical reason at all?
  11. Hi All, I am new here!! I have a question regarding the engine in an 07 BF MKII XR6T. I have conflicting stories about the engine in these. I have been looking at buying an 07 BF MKII as I was told that the engine in these is the same as the Typhoon engine (well similar). It has slightly stronger internals than the BA and BF 1’s. Is this true? The reason I ask is today I heard that after 04 the engines are not the same and that the BF engine isn’t as strong. So am I on the right path in buying a 07? Your opinions on this are greatly appreciated. Cheers, DJ
