  1. Guys, I have an absolutely stock FG XR6T sedan....I'm leasing but will takeover at end of lease. If I was not to change anything physically in the car but just tune-up a notch or two ...does anyone now what one can achieve or what the options are? Apologies if this is considered to be too open-ended a question.
  2. My FG XR6T has just clicked over 6000 klm (in 6 months ...yeah..Ive been away alot) and was wondering .....should I just wait for the first proper 15k service or should I take up one of those earlier complimentary ones ? I seem to recall someone saying all they do during these earlier services is just look them over and don't really do anything unless something is obviously wrong ???? The car seems absolutely strong and tight and the ZF box definitely is getting smoother .....do these buggers 'learn' or what ? My greatest joy so far ....letting the odd clubsport addicted work colleague to take her for a spin.....they never fail to end up scratchin' their heads and saying "f*ck....I didnt expect that from a 6 mate" ....hehe

hey Arnie, nice to meet you. Unfortunately for the next month or so I will be travelling between here and Melbourne due to some very sad deaths in the family (brother near dying from liver cancer and mother dies due to the stress of it) ....but when the dust settles ...I'll signal and hopefully we can meet ...perhaps at one of the Queenslander get-to-gethers eh?

Hi all, I posted a few times back in 08 when I was waiting (and quite frustrated) for delivery. Well, I got my FG XR6T in Lightning Strike about 2 days before christmas eve and man-o-man I am in love with this thing. I have had little time to post but a reminder email from the forums (very cute guys ...the "we miss you" email) so here I am. About a month back I got a call from an engineer in Ford who was following up on my new owners feedback form and was interested in that I gave absolutely every item a big positive except the area of 'cold starts' which I maked 1 level below excellent. I guess the only thing I have found expectantly is that when the beast is cold, it can tend to surge (I.e you gotta be a bit careful when reversing out of the garage against a fence because you might just "lurch" into it. He had a chuckle and explained how hard they had worked on that issue and explained the complex interactions between so many subsystems that it was just not possible to resolve (within reasonable time and investment constraints) and in any case, I informed him it was no biggie ...the poor damn thing had to have some sort of quirk. To put it bluntly, the built I received can not be faulted from panel alignment to interior finish ....it.is just f*cking perfect. If I could, I would marry this car and try to start a family .....hehehe Enough ranting ....feels good to be back fellas!! BTW I am in brisbane (Milton) for you banana benders out there ......
  5. beach Patrol...I know what you are saying but I am definitely not from the "microwave set". I'm a full-on baby boomer (50+) and if any nearby dealer had a few xr6t's in stock, it's 90% sure that I would have fingered one and bought it on the spot. When I ordered I even listed all the acceptable options which was basically all colours bar 2, auto and can put reverse sensors on later. How easy is that? that's why I object to being mucked about like I ordered a special edition FPV....

Hi guys, thought I'd better introduce myself (especially since I've carried on a bit like a pork chop in the "Delivery date " thread as my intro to this place ...apologies, I just hate tardy service). This is going to be a big step up and my first performance car in more than a decade. Situation now is my order stands due to cancellation fees + my order actually coming off the production line last friday (as I finally found out via the lease mob) ....so ....hopefully around the 15th December I'll grab a new FG XR6t in lightning strike with a few accessories. It kinda feels like Christmas! I'll try to do the donation/post piccie thing before christmas. Thanks for the site guys...this is THE place for I6-o-philes!
  7. A newb question or two guys... 1. Is there a recommended way of running a new FG XR6T in? Or do you just go as hard/soft as you like? 2. What is the recommended fuel and is there any types to avoid?
  8. My 35 years on the roads tells me that in general, Butto is correct. It's oldies, people who lack confidence, knowledge or have an infirmity beneath their poor driving skills. These are also the folk who live in the 20 metres around them rather than the 100+ metres we all know should be a key point in focus. One aberration to this however is that I believe there is an increasing number of aggressive young drivers who do this to taunt other drivers and potentially cause conflict. I have seen the latter more frequently on both the gold coast and sunshine coast highways. One really important point people, please eject any notion of "teaching them a lesson" or "revenge" in your reaction to people who drive slowly in the right lanes. Never forget your primary responsibility is to get yourself (no 1) and other drivers (No 2) to their destination safely and you must do everything within reason to avoid increased risk in these situations. Yes, its human nature to attempt to "sort them out" but this goes against every principle of good driving. It is not your job to discipline such drivers or educate them in real time. By all means toot them to warn of a dangerous situation (totally legal as using the horn is the mechanism to warn of a dangerous situation.....don't go overboard though, if they panic and an accident occurs you maybe held to account), take their plates and report to police or get a passenger to take a photo...all ok. Any legal action to remind them of a dangerous situation is being a good driver. As another poster has said sitting in front of them and slowing down further is merely (potentially) making the situation worse similarly to tailgating.... and may land you in worse trouble yourself. I apologize for the lecturing tone of this post but I'd really like younger drivers to learn to rise above the emotion side of things and think "big picture". It's hard I know, but please consider this when you are in this situation. Remember...it's 90% likely just a poorly skilled or troubled person doing this, not someone trying to play with your mind. Think of them as sick and in denial (hehe)....
  9. How was it Nutto? Everything according to expectations?
  10. Interestingly, a rather eager Customer Care organisation has started to show some interest although they seem very adamant in the first instance that the dealer is the king of the transaction but at least some useful information has started to flow and the impression is forming that they actually want to sell cars to people! Not sure where this is going to go but will post anything informative....
  11. I do know what you mean senna_T. If the dealer had explained it openly and honestly as you have, then I might have still placed the order (I suspect not however as I find more than 1 month lead time unacceptable). Some basic production planning combined with marketing techniques assist greatly when it comes to fulfilling demand (ie they should know statistically what customer preferences are and then based on a stock buffer, enable buyers to order against this to keep the lead times down)...On a positive note, at least buyers like me help remind ford that their supply chain policies do come at a cost and I have made sure that ford customer care understand why a customer like me just walked away. Good luck and enjoy what is a great Aussie car guys!
  12. Just as I feared....upon contact today, the goalposts appear to be shifting. Delivery may still occur to dealer by the given date but "as the car is not manufactured yet, it's not possible to provide a firm delibery date".....So here I am, approaching one month after order and am starting to get a changing storyline. My response = order cancelled on the spot(I won't comment on what I am replacing this with as it may offend some people). Anyway, in my view, if this is the way ford still does business then good luck, count me out. I tried to vote with my dollar for a great local marque (and for aussie jobs) but they cannot expect everyone to wear these flakey lead times. Even if they have reduced manufacturing throughput to gain lower costs, basic production planning still affords a competent company a predictable and reasonable order to delivery lead time. They should also be up-front with actual lead times. Good luck Ford...I really mean it.
  13. Hey mate. Mine is coming from Byrne Ford and when I visited the indooroopilly dealership to initially suss things out they had at least 2 there that I could see and I got the distinct impression that if I would by privately from stock (and no add-ons) I could have a deal on the day. Must say I am a bit surprised about the supply problems with the xr6t sedans ...here's me thinking that due to the financial meltdown, new car sales will really have bottomed out. Since coming to this site I seem to be getting an education about how popular (and in limited supply) these cars are. Anyway, I'm flabbergasted that ford didn't realise how many of these units they could sell upon the release of the FG range and at least bias production towards them a bit more over the standard models.....
  14. Sorry to hear about some the waits being experienced guys. Keeping in mind that mine is a novated lease order, I initially ordered on 7th November and have been advised delivery of sedan with technology pack, reverse sensor, security, tints and protection treatment (as demanded by lease co) mid December. They say this is a delayed delivery mainly due to tech pack and reverse sensors. The order was only firmly place today so I guess for me it looks like a 1 month wait. BTW order is from dealer in Brisbane.
