  1. Yeah I guess it would - I'm in Stkilda but work in Mitcham so anywhere round those 2 would be handy
  2. Hey - has anyone had any work done by a mechanic in Melbourne who's had experience removing the dash to replace the heater core. I don't want to take her to ford and have it done haphazard and be ripped off.... anyone know anyone I can call?
  3. Hi guys, it looks like my heater core needs replacing ( no hot air leaking coolant ) I've read the threads on taking the dash out and although it doesn't look too hard I haven't got anywhere to do it. does anyone know of a garage around melbourne who they know have done the job before and will do it properly cause I've heard quotes for taking the dash out can vary quite a bit and I don't want to take it just anyone. A;ternatively if anyone round melbourne has done it before, needs an earn and can give us a hand one sat let me know also. Cheers.
  4. Hey guys just found this thread, last week it sarted stuttering if I floored in first so I read a few treads and saw it could be the coils or spark plugs. Canged the spark plugs on the weekend and fixed her beuatifully - more power than b4 - no probs right? wrong - coming home tonight after 1 week and when flooring it and it hits second it sort of stutters and loses power for around half a second b4 picking up again and regaining power, its hard to test without losing your licensce! So last week the prob was that it stuttered and lost power as soon as you hit it now after the spark plugs it stutters and loses power for a little while then hits it and bang your away until 2nd and the same thing happens, sorry if I'm babbling but its good to put it out there to stop crap like having you beast at the mechanic for weeks, going to change the coils next week and see what happens - will keep posted... If anyone can offer any insight it would help but if it made a difference changing the plugs it must have something to with the ignition system ( you'd think )...
  5. Hey changed the sparks plugs and it fixed the problem - she's back to pullin like a school boy. Thanks Mike for you step be step guide made it easy as.
  6. Hey berzerka - mine just started to do the same thing, did you end up fixing the problem and did you change the plugs only or the plugs and the coils?
  7. Hi guys, turned a corner and put the foot down with the traction control on and the beast just started missing like when you lose it on a corner and the engine cuts out with the traction control on. Kept driving and it does it just when you put the oot down. Also has a turbo flutter which wasn't there before ( probably because its not using the boost ). Stopped and turned the car off but still doing it. Read on other post it maybe the plugs or but this is something that definatelty went bad straight away. Anyone had this problem and had it fixed before?? Wanna try to get it done on the weekend,...
  8. Hey SAPNEN, that's a *beep* about the punces stealing ya gauges, ya just wish you could catch em in the act cause you know you'd give em that little bit extra for all the other dudes they've ripped off. If you could get photo's or a description or anything about the dash removal that I should be wary of before I attempt it to reach my heater core I'd be very appreciative.
  9. Hey guys - thanks for the help, joined the hoses today with a piece of copper and some hose clamps. At least can drive it until I can save to have the dash removed and the heater core replaced. It'll proably be around the start of next summer before I've got a heater again LOL!!
  10. so just get a hose joiner so it still flows through??
  11. Yeah thought as much - can I still plug the hoses so I can get around??
  12. Here's a pic of where its coming from. If its the heater box can I plug the hoses going into the fire wall so I can get it to the shop? If so anyone know anyone around st kilda. Don't wanna go to ford
  13. Hey guys had a closer look and found the leak coming from around a little plug type thing just above the front of the transmission in the bottom of the firewall, dripping onto the tranny then down off the bottom tranny housing. Any ideas?
  14. Hey mate - cheked that - nothing - there's nothing else that far back that could be leaking coolant is there? Its pretty far back - and theres nothing damp inside the car.
  15. Hi guys, got a 03 BA , pulled up after smelling coolant, had a look under the bonnet ouldn't see anything, then looked under the car and saw coolant dripping around the transmission cover? Any one got any ideas - its got me.... and on the saturday of a long weekend.
