  1. Only the original (whatever that metallic yellow is...I call it metallic influenza) nizpro car runs motec & revs harder... that's not to say there arent any others out there...just that I dont know of them. Personally I think it will sound as tough as you like at 7500rpm...
  2. Nope, mine is just the usual stage 3...so the same as bcl's but Ive still got the T5 so Im not running the boost he is. Its turned down to 12psi & makes around 300rwkw. Once the gearbox is replaced (T56) I'll have a motec put on it & a new dump (currently has remus exhaust) so it will be able to rev to 7500rpm, & run a bit more boost. Should be about 400rwkw then. that's about as far as I will go engine wise...Im not into drag racing & for circuit stuff 400rwkw is already overkill. Im tipping some $ into suspension though & I already have a big set of stoppers on it. Then again a wise man once said " No one ever lost a race because they had too much horsepower"
  3. Brian, Im not going to make it tomorrow...some interesting developments at work now! I'll get down to see Mal at some stage soon...he will hear me coming. Look forward to your thoughts on the new box. Thanks for the spreadsheet...Ive been playing with it for ages & I think youve made the right choice with your ratios. I reckon I'll just copy you!

    5" CAT

5 inch...damn do you guys want to crawl up inside your exhaust or something???
  5. Basic diff is that the nizpro ones work with bigger cams as well. You DO NOT need to machine the head to make them fit...they are in my car.
  6. Youre both right. It was a PITA getting a supply of springs from Ford & the springs we have made allow for higher lift camshafts & more boost that the OEM ones.
  7. What time are you guys going to get there roughly? Brian, can you email me that swisho ratio calculator spreadsheet please?
  8. At $286 for the Nizpro valve springs, why would you bother with XR8 ones? Surely that's not 280 fitted.....what springs do Nizpro use??? They are made to our specs by an OEM manufacturer but they arent an OEM spring. Oh, & no that's not fitted.
  9. As discussed Brian I will come down, look forward to meeting you guys & catching up with Ben & Mal again...especially as I think my T5 is nearly screaming loud enough now:)
  10. Interesting that it takes my comments to drag out some semblence of the truth.
  11. 488 & 502 on shoot 8 & shoot 81...not shoot 6 as everyone else is required to run. Nice level playing field you build there...knock 60 or so off those figures to get the real shoot 6 figures to compare to everyone elses.
  12. Except Brians car isn't factory, and the original post was about a replacement gearbox for factory cars. Ford won't match a gearbox spec to the aftermarket whims of people like Brian. The Brian's of this world are always going to have to look at upgrades to areas such as driveline when making the sort of mods he has to the engine and he's done that, but we're talking factory spec here and I think you've forgotten that whilst arguing the quality of the shift in Brian's car (which no one is doubting). Ford are not going to put an aftermarket gearbox such as the Mal Wood-modified T56 in factory cars, the cost would be prohibitive - full stop. If they did, what would Mal Wood do besides service such gearboxes? It's to his benefit Ford throw in 'on the limit' drivelines into cars such as the XR6T which are undergoing such large performance upgrades. It'll be a factory T56, TR3650 (something that's off the shelf from Tremec as they do several variants of each), or a factory something else like a Getrag. They might decide to stick with the T5 for all we know. FPV are a slightly different story, they might decide mods to an existing gearbox are worth the extra cost. Ummm, Brians box is a factory std T56 box. Its just different internally to that in the Viper & commodore. I believe the shifter is an off the shelf Tremec item except brian specc'd a slightly stiffer spring. Again its just different to Viper & commodore. Mal Woods make the gear to fit it to the T. So they do the bell housing, adaptor plate, plus they make the super nice twin plate clutch & steel flywheel...neither of which we could realistically expect to see on the std car. The ratios seemed fine to me...there was a bit of a hole between 3 & 4 but its not at all bad. 2000rpm in 6th is 110kph so its a sensible cruising gear.
  13. If we get a box that can deal with the sort of grunt Brians & say the C & V car can make then the world will definately be a better place. Id be happy with a box like Brians...I might be happier with a getrag...stuffed if I know...it doesnt even exist.
  14. Geez, you must be the most closed minded person on the face of the earth. Ive driven an M5, Ive driven a TT Supra, Ive driven a T56 Commodore, Ive driven a Viper & Ive driven a Mal Woods T56 XR6T. You may have driven all of the above except the T, I dont know. I accept that the M5 & TT Supra shifts are better than the commodore & viper. You are not in a position to say whether or not the box in Brians car shifts better than any of them, simply you havent tried it. The box they put in the T had some internal differences & a difference in shifters that Im sure WBT56 can explain better than me. Neither of us have driven an XR6T with a getrag which may never exist... You will notice that I havent claimed that the shift on Brians car was better than a getrag, just that Brians shift was very good, & far far better than I expected. So you are prepared to back a product youve never used against another product youve never used??? that's either brave or stupid. How do you like this hypothetical example? I had a safari turbo system on a patrol years ago & it was never any good, it detonated, it overheated & ran like crap. Therefore everything Peter Luxon has done ever since is garbage. On that basis I wouldnt even look at his kit for the XR6T, & you cant tell me that APS can even compare to the work of ZXCV turbocharging. Doesnt make sense does it?
  15. Last week I agreed with you, I drove brians car on the weekend & now I dont. Despite what you think you know, you cannot expect to be taken seriously without having tried it. Its like me saying that a unichip was a pile of crap, when Ive never used one. You & other people who have would leap to its defence. So then I just say that Ive used an older or inferior one & it doesnt begin to compare to my computer. Its a crap arguement.
  16. The one that youve never used Peter? Ive driven it (The Mal Woods conversion) & its nothing like a Late model camira or viper that Ive driven before... Unless youve driven Brian or Lachlans cars you dont know what youre talking about.
  17. It may all be revealed at the Melb motorshow with the fpv T6...may not too...
  18. Peter, Thanks for the rev limit info. You need to drive Brians (or Lachlans) car to comment on the way the T56 works, its a pretty quick shift (if weightier than most jap boxes). I had only used the T56 in commodores & a viper before. Honestly you would swear Brians was a totally different box. I dont think it would be as good as a tricked auto down the 1/4 though...
  19. Can we assume C16 & that the little trans work involves a high stall plus some other substantial mods? Oh, btw Can you change the factory rev limit on a T with a unichip?
  20. Oh, that's quick! Nice work. What auto is that car running? Has anyone got one of those HP calculators to work out how much HP this car must have to do that time (assuming it weighs in the same as a std car). Also what you would need to run a 9?
  21. edo

    6spd Gear Box

yes, but its supposed to be all hush hush at this stage...so shuddup...
  22. Aint that the truth!
