  1. Jim I picked up an ex-chaser and havent had an issue other than a perished rubber joiner between exhaust and turbo which was replaced under warranty. I've replaced the oil feeder line with the ETM one to be cautious rather than because I had a problem. My car is a BF2 11/06 which I picked up start of this year for just under $20, 000 from a dealer the car had 60k on the clock and was from exotic Condobolin. Check the service record to see where the car was based, if it's a country car it would have been driven from a hidey hole to about 130km with a fair few high speed runs which is my usual weekend . I wouldn't have bought it if it was a city chaser, hand brake turns and median strip hopping probably does not equal good 2nd hand car. +1 on worn driver seat but nothing my throw over seat cover doesn't fix lol. I've had the car over the pits a few times and always given a clean bill of health and I've put bout 15k on it. Senna's checking it out tomorrow for suspension so can let you know what sort of shape it's in.
  2. Hey guys, Bob did my car and my mate's XR8 the other week. We both went 18% all round and both car's look awesome. My mate's car is black and mine white and neither look defect worthy. +1 to Bob being a top bloke. He know's his stuff and treats each car he does like his own (which is a good thing, I know how some of you treat your car's lol). Perfect job for an awesome price, would highly recommend him. Cheers
  3. I just fitted (yesterday) the 320ish mm DBA 4000 slotted and Bendix pads (the one's under the ultimates). I only fitted the DBA up front and left the stock discs on the rear with new pads all round. It cost about $600 all up fitted and worth every cent. Oh and the look of horror coming from some other drivers faces when sitting at the lights with smoke pouring out from the brakes also made it worth while
  4. Not yet, pay week is this week. That's why I stuck my head under the bonnet to see if I could find the source of the noise. When they have it at the shop I'll ask them to check the turbo bolts and coils/spark plugs, thanks senna. Does anyone know the joiner size for the piping in question and a reputable place to get it from...
  5. Sorry to bump my thread except I have a further likely related question. Today I had a look at the piping that run's from the crossover to the turbo and where it is clamped to the turbo it had ate through the rubber. The piping didn't look like it was seated correctly so I resat it and tightened it all back up. This seems a little to band aid-y for my liking and wondering what if there would be a better option like a silicon joiner or something? that I could pick up to make sure it's all sealing nicely.
  6. Thanks 72, @Xfranjo - at least I'll still have $400 from K.Rudd. @Snaps - I hope not because I like my turbo where it is.
  7. I have a friend who owns an Ultratune however thought I'd ask the XR6T brains here first cos it's turned out you guys picked up things Ford either missed or conveniently forgot to change.
  8. I have it booked in for a visit in a few days however since it's still under warranty I wanted to make sure they checked things it could be rather then flushing the oil and telling me it's all good. It sounds like exhaust gases leaking but I wouldn't have the nouse to know for sure.
  9. Hi all, My BF II XR6T makes this strange "putt putt" noise at mid range (2000-3000rpm) which seems to disappear when the turbo is at full song. It seems worst when the car is doing about 60km and I gently accelerate in which case I get the noise and it feels a bit soft. It is completely stock except a Phoon 2nd CAI and KnN filter. Also it doesn't make the noise at all when I rev it in neutral even between the 2-3k rpm. Sorry if I left anything important out which might help.
  10. Thanks to both the replies. We had NRMA come out and check the battery, it wasn't doing all the things a good little battery should despite being brand new. It was replaced for free with a new battery (as it should have been too) and all runs smoothly...for a Gen 4. It's a shame Ford doesn't have a decent LWB vehicle anymore, I could see Ford selling a few LWB cars if they had at least an XR8/6T rather then the pissy G220. Oh well, it seems the Fairlane will be remembered as a Silver Service taxi from now on.
  11. First off this question not for the turbo it's for Dad's Expensive Daewoo WM Caprice so any general help would be appreciated. He just bought it from auction and after stopping for fuel on the way home from picking it up, when he tried to restart it the car it wouldn't. NRMA came out and changed the battery to a new one, problem should have been solved or so you would think. The car has to be jump started and won't do it off the new battery. He went for a two hour drive today (after jumping it) and when he switched it off when he got home and tried to instantly restart it, again it wouldn't restart. The car goes to reds but the electric windows won't move and the CD player won't go on. Does anyone have any ideas where the problem may be? Again sorry not a Turbo question but it's kinda annoying.
  12. yeah that was pretty much it, a bit of a dent around the lock to get the screw driver under and then broke the bracket at the back of the lock. they pushed the lock back into the hole so I didn't notice it until my back wasn't getting massaged like it should. ah well live and learn. feel for ya bjc, I was fuming and it was only a third of the value of stuff taken from yours
  13. I had my T for three days when some worthless little got to close on his push bike (I like to think because he was admiring it...but I'm guessing it was multiple generations of inbreeding which left him with very litttle co-ordination). Lucky the sh*t had plastic pedals and still had the rubber hand grips cos most of it buffed out. My mirror had been pushed against the driver's window and two foot long black marks on my white car. I was ropeable!!! Good to hear the good outcome MADF6 and now know where to go to fix the small mark left after a good buff and the one on the car when I bought it. Unfortunately I didn't have the pleasure of seeing the little sh*t stain do it. I too am a strong believer in vigilante justice especially when it's cold and calculated AND untraceable. Good luck in your future offensive against happy happy God boy, his of a wife and litter of twats
  14. Cheers everyone After training myself to listed to music at 5 volume thanks to the "Povo pack" (cheers mickbek) I think I won't be overdriving my speakers too much my amp will be hiding somewhere pretty indiscreet as with the speakers cos I'll be f d is some useless is going to knock off my audio gear again (I'm hoping the BF's boot lock isn't as easy to pop out as the EL). to the little turd's credit he neatly disconnected all my cabling rather then cutting it and I think even left the power cables apart so it didn't start a fire in my boot, or maybe I'm giving him too much credit. still like to take $500 worth of skin from his hide to make up for it, ah well lesson learnt. thx again appreciate all the feedback
  15. thanks all, after looking more on the forum I came across the adaptor you can buy off ebay for nothing which makes my job even easier. from your comments will do steering clear of those speakers and think I'll follow the tried and true method of getting the splits up front. I don't mind spending the $300 range for good speakers but this jaycar thing sounds alright for amps, I was going to go that path with my old car but ended up getting the T before I replaced the sub after some dodgy *beep* ripped it off. anyone vouch for jaycar cos I've personally heard it's not too bad for the price but have never known anyone with it in
