billy88 replied to ENVI.BA's topic in Electrics Workshop

I hate people that say just buy a turbo, u learn nothing by going an buying a car. Also when I baught my n/a ba ute I was on red p's an couldn't drive turbos an for me to sell it now it would just be a waste of money because the resale value is horrible. Plus this is a good way around paying insuarance on a turbo car.

nice work mate, im thinkin of doing the same and I think u've just made up my mind. My biggest fear was having to change pistions of the n/a motor an possibly the computer but it seems like that's not an issue lol and mines a auto haha Wooo Cheers Mate

Yeh im going to replace them with a mates BA coil packs for a test run b4 I go and buy a new set, because the cracks are only hairline and I can't see how this would effect the inductance of the coil pack and cause a misfire. But we shall see.

Hey all, I have a ford falcon ba N/A Ute. Had it converted to gas about 8months ago. Have recently, in the last 2 months noticed the car has a miss when on gas and when on petrol. But much more oftern on gas. Even at idle and reving steady at 3K. All the coil packs are sparking as we have takin one by one off slightly with the engine running. The spark plugs were replaced about 40k ago but are iridium an are ment for 100k. Also 3 of the coil packs have slight hair line cracks on the top casing but am up for any input b4 replacing them as they arn't that bad and shouldn't be reason for replacement. Throttle body has been semi cleaned while on the car to no help. Have checked the injection timing of the gas and fuel injectors and are running fine. Am going to have a good hard look at the ford maintance manuel but if any one has had this promblem b4 or heard of it, would appreciate the help. regards Bill

Hey all, I was reading a topic on here the other day where it had a DIY of how to remove the Ute cover lugs off the tray. People where saying that they got the covers for the lugs for around $30 for 20 of them. Decided to take a trip down to ford 2day an get a set to keep me amused over the wkend. The guy warned me before he told me they had gone up but once he pulled the price up I walked straight out. These bad boys were $5 a pop, so it would cost $100 just to do my tray. This wouldn't be a problem if they were pre painted an came with a head job or similar but yeh.... Just a tiny little cover.... So does anyone noe a cheap place to source these from?? Bout to try good old ebay now but yeh.. Thanks in advance...

Cheers mate, ill have a look into that fusion brain your talking about.. as for what frontend im using im not sure what u mean. My theory on how it worked was plug an play then straight into Google Earth Pro an allow it to give info to the prog, I am worried about how much data it will try an download though... would be good to have Google Earth as a secondary program, and a normal street directory for primary. Still yet to buy the GPS reciever. I plan for the relocation of the icc components this wkend so hopefully all goes well lol..

Hey all, I have a BA XLS ute which I have currently installed a simple carputer setup, with computer located behind my drivers seat and amp inst behind passanger. I have a 7" touchscreen installed in the triangle piece above the ICC as it seemed like the best thing at the time. I've had this setup for a while now and decided to upgrade an change the things that bother me. I got a hold of the standard icc fascia for $30 an started moulding it this weekend. The touchscreen is going to be installed where the usual screen is and the old screen is being located where the tissue box holder is, alongwith some usb ports as I have much needed during the use of the carputer so far. I also am going to create a control to pause/play next and volume, an possibly incorperate it into the steering wheel controls, but am reconsidering because of keeping the standard ICC opertaional. I also need to incorperate gps into this setup as I planned on my last but never happened. The setup I have planned is to use Wireless internet to download the information from the internet for use in google earth, and use gps to show exact location. Whereis has now been in-corperated into google earth so it will aid in locating addresses, places. any other ideas would be appreciated. I will do a write up for the screen installation an any problems incounted, which will be many lol.. The relocating of the icc components will be good for anyone thinking about taking on the challange.

Hey if your ba is loosing rpm when at lights and idle for a while, or I noticed it sometimes when I went to park after a drive it lost rpm then picked its self back up, occasionly stalling. I took the throttle body off an butterfly valve, and cleaned it out with carby cleaner (degreaser), it was black as all sh*t in there, haven't had the problem since.. hope this helps

the shudder is caused by the disc being uneven, on its surface, most commonly being warped. warping occurs with excessive heat, if you get the disc machined it will be flat but the disc will stil be warped so it is likly to come back again. Could be just low quality metal used in the discs ?? If you feel the shudder in the brake pedal, your rear discs are scrwed, if its in the steering wheel, your front discs are screwed. I would say this would be more common to highway driving because of more force being exerted on the discs at higher speeds, causing more heat, and making it alot more probable to warping. im getting sloted front n back rotors in the comming week so will be interesting on how they hold up
