  1. Hey All, I dont know if anyone out there has come across this, but when you get your wheel alignment done be sure to tell the guys doing it to check the front crossmember mounting bolts BEFORE they do the alignment. Ford made a bit of a F*&k up with the B series (not that they will admit it. The FG has a steel crossmember instead of an ally one!) and put an alloy crossmember in the car. Now over time due to torsional differences between the ally crossmember and the steel chassis its bolted too, these bolts work loose, totally screwing up your wheel alignment. Now if the tyre shop dont know to check these bolts and just do the alignment with them loose, the minute you drive the car away from the shop, the alignment changes due to the whole assembly moving around. Its something that happens over time, and you dont notice it as it doesnt get loose to the point of clunking or anything, but it does make the car wander slightly, and the steering sloppy in corners, and obviously wears your tyres out. A friend of mine made me aware of it as he had tyres wearing out every 10k, and after a local tyre shop here contacting FPV, they advised of this very issue. mine get tightened every 10k when the wheel alignment is done, and I tell you what you will be amazed at the difference. I believe they get done up F.T. .. just a bit of usefull info as not all tyre shops know about this issue.
  2. that's one thing I thought too initially-indicator relay- But then I thought about it and decided if it was, it would affect all of the indicators on the car as typically you only have one indicator relay. besides, if its only affecting one particular indicator-bearing in mind the car has 6 indicator bulbs-the problem would obviously have to be with the problematic bulb in the first instance. When you activate your indicator stalk to left or right, you send a signal to the indicator relay to operate. The signal produced by the relay then energises a circuit which is ,at some point ,split into 2 circuits (left and right, for the two sides of the car),usually at the stalk, and depending on which position your indicator stalk is in, you are either directing that signal from the relay to one sides circuit or the other, thus if one particular bulb doesnt work-say its missing, or blown, the others on that circuit flash faster due to lower resistance on the circuit (and please correct that any sparky's out there as I am not an auto electrician lol). in the case of the Hazard lights, that relay is wired into both circuits and isnt split as such, hence all bulbs flash at the same time irrespective of where the stalk is positioned. Good luck!!
  3. Hi All. has any of you had this happen? my windscreen wipers seem to have a mind of their own and on occasion its like they have forgotten how long they run for (on intermittent-that is) or where the "park" position is.when on intermittent they stop mid screen on sweep back-then do another 2/3 cycle etc. if I pull the stalk back to wash the widscreen the minute I let go of the stalk the wipers stop wherever they are on the screen, likewise if the wipers are turned on either lo or hi. Also if I nudge the stalk up to do a single wipe they only move while the stalk is held up.On the Not so random occasion it does this, if I switch the stalk up and down rapidly several times it seems to sort itself out-until the next time. I have had the wiper motor plug apart and cleaned it out, and the stalk itself seems ok-Suggestions anyone? I'm contemplating the BEM but ??? My ride is a BA2 XR6T ,has premium ICC with dual zone A/C,and auto lights option. I have also tried taking the Battery off etc and draining all power from systems then reconnecting it but it never seems to fix it Cheers in Advance
  4. I found that half the problem with the volume level with a non-boosted cable is the volume cap apple put on the ipods as my sons Sony MP3 player always sounded far superior to my ipod, so I had a hunt around on the net for Ipod apps, namely a graphic eq, and came across something called rockbox-Its an open source alternative firmware app for ipod/Media players.once installed on your ipod/Player it boots this up by default unless you choose to boot up the original software (it doesnt replace the original firmware at all in any way)-has HEAPS more functionality than the apple software including a truck load of sound enhancing options which includes among other things a Fully adjustable graphic equaliser!! (something apple should have given us), Along with crossfade settings, preamp and gain settings, stereo width settings to name a few, It also has a "car adapter mode" which means if you have it plugged in and charging in your car whilst playing, as soon as it detects the power supply switch off it pauses the track where it is, and resumes when the ignition is turned back on! Honestly it has a multitude of adjustable settings plus you can even choose your own skins, fonts and wallpaper (I put my own on mine). I loaded it on my G5 ipod and after a bit of playing around I have it sounding just as good and loud as a CD. I dont think its available for all ipods but wont swear to that- check their website. Do a google search for "Rockbox". I have also found on the Jaycar website (in case anyone is interested) that you can buy a DIY amplifier kit for like 20 bucks NZ or something like that for anyone who is interested in making up their own boosted lead. Give the roxbox a go though, once you get used to it, its way better to use hands down!! :newrussian: :mexicanwave:
  5. My 6T did exactly the same, only it was the front R/H indicator would intermittently not work. I found it to be a bad connection (dry joint) in the plug onto the indicator bulb holder-it had actually been arcing to the point it had left a groove in one of the terminals on the bulb holder! I found the easiest way to access the indicator bulb was to turn the steering to full left lock and remove half the screws in the plastic cover that lines the wheelarch. clean up ya terminals and give it a good dose of marine crc or eqivalent, fixed mine with no problems since. good luck.
  6. It wont let me upload it for some reason, so if the site moderator wants to email me, I can send it to ya, and maybe you can post it as a sticky or something for all to download (both here in NZ and in OZ). sweet as!!
  7. hey guys, I came across it on the net and downloaded it for free!!! its for the BA though and not the BF, all models including both V8 engines and all the L6's including turbo-looks like it may be genuine ford too, but whose complaining!! I'm sure if I hunt a bit harder I will find one for the BF too. hope you all find it useful! will try and upload it as one file, but if it doesnt let me, you can email me ant I will send it to you!
