  2. White FG the wheels are Advan racing rs, 19 by 10 on the back
  3. I just bought some new wheels for my FG ute and theyre a dark gun metal colour and I was wondering if I should powdercoat or anodise the sports bar to the same dark colour (if it can be done) Has anyone done this or know how to. I'm not even sure what the sportsbar is made out of, I assume aluminium but I'm not sure, thanks for the help
  4. The dust comes in through the holes for the movable tie down hooks along the sides of the tray, and the drains on the bottom. I fixed this inexpensively (on my fg soft cover) by going to Clarke rubber and buying some small rubber gromits to plug the holes and some rubber chair leg tips to plug the drains, they taper at a slight angle so seal fairly well.
  5. Hi guys, basically my old man wants to upgrade the brakes on his ba fairlane and will need to get larger wheels so theyl fit. I said that he can have the 19s of my fg ute so that I can get new wheels. My question is, has anyone noticed that the rear wheel arches on the fg ute protrude at least two inches wider than the wheels, kinda like an xa-c coupe, and has anyone fit wider rear wheels. should I get dished rims or use spacers, any suggested brands etc, look foward to hearing from you.
  6. its an interesting fact that James Watt actually undercut the power of a horse to help him sell steam engines. when he presented potential customers (like large mines, etc) the figures showed the engine to be more appealing than the teams of horses it would replace
  7. I believe that's the standard fairlane g220 trim and a can of armor all
  8. where could I find this?
  9. I already have the fairlane, its a ba 6 cyl with 150 000 on it, and while its been looked after and hasnt had any problems you probably wouldnt get 10 000 dollars for it. its actually my old mans car and he's decided to keep it because its worth a lot more to him than its resale value and also he's owned 3 fairlanes and loved them and is a bit annoyed at ford for dropping the line, sort of a stubborn loyalty I guess. he decided that he will keep it so he has had new bilstein shocks and swaybars put in as well as new bushes to fix the few squeaks and rattles it's developed in the last couple years. I leant him my car (fg turbo ute) while that was done, and now he wants to turbocharge his, I thought that it would be better to transplant a ba or bf motor seeing as ford has already done all the work and a falcon and fairlane are pretty much identical from the b pillar foward. and theres the fact that the current engine is starting to age.
  10. I got an xr6 turbo because its a lot easier than an xr8 to pass of as a non turbo 6 (p plates), and I always thought I was a v8 guy but im getting a sore arse sitting on the fence
  11. does anyone have a pick of the maloo, a vy I think, that was done like this, I was a black one with a jarrah tray, actually looked really good
  12. im the one that destroyed the unijoint with my brand new (couple of weaks old, about 2-3000ks) fg, and eventhough no one believes me I wasnt doing anything stupid, its an auto, had nothing in the back and was under about 2/3 throttle. it broke the whole unijoint and I kept the piece that fell on the road and it was showing excessive uneven wear, like it had done 100 000 kays. It was probably wasn't fitted properly at the factory, mine would have been the one of the first built, ford replaced the tailshaft, no worries. I havnt had a problem since. does anyone know if the F6 runs the same tailshaft?
  13. im considering turbocharging my n/a 4.0 BA Fairlane or possibly swapping engines with a turbo, does anyone have any advice or previous experiances they could share with me, how best to do it, how much could this cost, would it be easier to turbocharge the existing engine or buy a written off xr6t, or buy a xr6turbo at the auctions then sell it as an xr6
  14. it also says not compatible if you hook up an apple iPhone, should be the same as an ipod, with mine if I leave the ipod in it tends to go flat then not work for about five minutes after you turn it back on, could a ford software update fix either problem?
  15. bought it at rare spares for 8 bucks as a joke, will peel right back off
  16. ive had mine for a while now but im new to the forum, its an august build, auto with the tech and lux pack and I love it
  17. what about this, just me being a smartarse

    ute register

I have a white august built fg xr6 turbo ute, auto, with the lux pack, tech pack, roll bar, lsd, 19 inch wheels and has had the turbo badge removed, and I love it. its a sydney car but I often travel to the riverina and am currently on my p plates, not that I use the plates
  19. definatly get the lux pack, its well worth it, I have it on my ute and couldnt be happier, even with the 19s, wasnt sure at first but love them now, btw the ipod and bluetooth phone pack is very good as well if you are the type who would use it
  20. I have never had any problems and love the new design, my car has hit its other limiter as well without the tarp blowing off, it sounds to me like people arnt clipping them on properly if water can pool, it is also important to put it on in the order front, back then sides so as to pull it taunt before the sides go on, the only problem ive had is the holes for the movable tiedown points allow a lot of dust to enter under the tarp especially on dirt roads but I have since fixed that with some removable rubber gromits from clark rubber.

    Sports Bar

if you put a au-bf sports bar on your fg make sure you upload a pic as I think the sleaker sportsbar would look better on the fg not that im unhappy with my currant one
  22. I cant believe how many xr6 turbo drivers even know what the back of a hyundai looks like, if I couldnt pass a hyundai on my xr6 turbo I would get out and walk
  23. for those with iPhones and touch ipods there is an application you can download that uses the motion sensor and gps to track your cars drag times anywhere you drive, etc 0-100kph, 1/8 mile 1/4 mile and so on. I had a go at using one in my FG turbo ute and did 4.82 seconds 0-100 time and with the weight included it indicated a power figure of 276kw, my car is stock standard and as stoked as I am with that time (quicker than a db9, m3 and w427 according to WHEELS magazine) is it consistant to other turbo falcons and has anyone else used this "toy", its a very cool thing to have, as is an xr6 turbo.
  24. I was wondering if anyone who has a flash tuner could help me, if I buy one can the stock tune be returned at any time and if I do this and disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes to wipe the memory could ford service tell if it has had an aftermarket tune. I plan on returning my fg turbo to the stock variables when I get the car serviced to preserve the warranty.
  25. 19 FG ute got it a month ago
