  3. I was faced with this problem about 2 years ago, I had a BF turbo auto and I ended up selling it and buying a toyota corolla (yeah I know the other side of the spectrum) but im not looking at getting another ford until the new model comes out. In the next few weeks I should be picking up a m35 stagea. they seem to be bloody good cars, with the exception of replacing the turbo which can be a pain in the arse.
  4. best choice to get a 6 speed if you can, really good box.
  5. not sure mate, but my old man has a xr6 BF which is stamped BF its a december 05.
  6. mate, dont do it! I downgraded to a non turbo :( and also a corolla for work, I really miss driving it. I cant wait to get my FG xr6t
  7. I agree with Buf-Phoon I wouldnt worry about the rest of the exhaust, big cat and dump is all that's needed for moderate power. the standard exhaust is pretty ok, except for that stupid bit where it goes over the diff. Save the money from the exhaust and get injectors and fuel pump. yeah and dont drive it around with an exhaust and no tune, overboost can be bad for you. get all the parts then fit em when you get the tune. Cheers Ant
  8. Dillz, you shoulda put a poll in this thread!
  9. Its a bit of a tough question mate, only you would know your financial circumstances best. That being said if you are having a tight time at the moment, it might be difficult to meet repayments in future. At this stage id be allowing for a 2% rate rise in the next 12 or so months. Tagging on a 30g car to your mortgage might not be the best move, it may be a better option to save save and save. Im only offering my opinion as a fellow person in similar circumstances, so take it with a grain of salt
  10. Howdy, I had a BF xr6turbo with a 6 spd auto and on many occasions raced my brothers VZ 6.0l L98 ss ute 6 spd manual and he would win hands down everytime, he would always get about half a car length infront of me from hte start then the front of my car would creep up to the front of his door. After my sh*tty tune, it was all over for him

yeah I agree with that *Beep* said, and especially if its a T5 manual. I dont know what your budget is but if its tight id try look for something with no options, just lower K's and a semi auto or 6sp manual. I'd keep looking for another one
  12. Not adding any worth while info to this thread, but just look at the difference between the T5 and the T56.

Supercharge it! Get a Vortech V2 and some injectors it should be around 7k for a kit then get him to pick up a flash box and high flow cat. it should make massive power. 270-350rwkw depends on the tune.
  14. +1 on the diff bush (what a stupid bloody design), and some leaking from the timing cover. Other than that its been pretty good.
  15. look into geting your cv's done. what car do you have? or what engine are you doing this to?
  16. and some blue paint for the rocker cover.
  17. not bad looking rim, that innner chrome bit kinda looks out of place. Ever think about painting the rims a light metallic charcoal? I reckon it would blend it nicely with the rest of the car.
  18. I wouldn't bother doing it. Just stick with an n/a xr6 (or a sprinter with a 4age u'd have heaps of fun with that) or something legal for a P plater. It would suck if you crashed your 17-25k car and didn't have insurance, its not the smartest idea. The whole introduction of the reduced power limits was to enable younger drivers to gain manageable driving experience dont be silly mate
  19. some one buy my damn car. asap!

  20. My car normally sits on 13.5L/100 and that is start stop city driving. I drove the car out to millmerran the other week, 500ks h'way driving and averaged 9.7l/100
  21. This might sound sacrilegious but with a budget of what you have, Id personally be looking into a vy ss. With the VY/X a hell of alot of em have leather and you could get a t56 gearbox! You should pick up a vy ss for about 15,000ish The only exception to this is if you manage to fine a low K smick model that has been treated like a baby. Cheers
  22. Jeeze mate, that's pretty rough. Unfortunately there isn’t any way of getting your money back though a private sale. If I was in the same boat as you id be hitting on the compassion of the guy to ask him to knock 1k off the price of the car for the repair or at least go you halves in the repair bill. It is a pretty piss poor act to conveniently not mention that the car has a stuffed head and mostly likely wont last you the trip home. Obviously the guy has the right to refuse but it cant hurt to try! Good luck!

Congrats, it looks nice and clean from the pic! Try folding down the rear seats and shoving the surfboard through the boot? The remote isnt waterproof, its just a plastic snap kinda joint. Cheers Ant
  25. Id like to know this also, the way im driving lately ill be seeing 75,000 soon. After having my last 60,000k service @ $500 it was a bit of a shock. Has anyone had a 75,000 service? and how much did it cost?
