I got my dealer to fix it and it was great for about 2 days then it came back again. Mine is just out of warranty now and am looking for a better solution to fix it. I was thinking that I would take the seat out and drown it in CRC and grease and then put it back. Has anyone else had any luck or can point me in the right direction of exactly what the culprit is? After having a wrx and being very sceptical about dealers and warranty it was a refreshing change to take my xr6t ute to Lane Ford in perth. The service manager did not even drive the car and said that he would get it fixed. I am even getting a free loan car. :banghead: The story goes that they were originally replacing the whole box but now they are only replacing 5th gear. I know that that dealership gets 2 cars per month. Now one would assume the manual / auto split is 50 / 50. The car has been out for about 15 months which means they have received 15 manual cars. Mine will be the sixth one they have had problems with. This means they are replacing about 40% of the boxes. One would suggest that would nearly constitute a recall. cheers brendon

I had a look at the cabin tidy when I got my ute but the thing that striked me is that you can not put something like an a4 file in there. It all looked very flash but when you got into it rather impractacle. :(

I thought I wanted to get rid of my wrx so I made a deal with the missus that I would buy the ute, sell the rex and my 2002 4wd diesel hilux. Kill 2 birds with one stone. I finally got my ute last august yet I still have the rex and the hilux and the ute. would be interested to hear peoples thoughts on getting out of something like a well sorted rex into a standard xr6t. far bigger difference than I thought.
