  1. I remember reading a review of the GT in Motor (I think) that summed it up. It said something along the lines of: ‘A starter button belongs in a Falcon as much as James Bond belongs in a navy blue Bond’s singlet’
  2. Amazing how the presence of a video camera can turn a normal everyday d!ck head into a complete and utter d!ck head with no regard for life or limb.
  3. I think that is a quote from the US comedian Bill Hicks. I seem to remember he was commenting on how 'bad' crime was in the UK compared to the US. Sung to the tune of some Nirvana song I think. Is that right Lumpen? Otherwise explain yourself.
  4. ba XR6 It sounds like you want to have your headlights on during the day. This would be the 'Lights On Feature'. I have it fitted to my HgAg T for visibility, and I had it on my previous XR8. The lights are simply always on when the car is running - Headllights and Tail Lights - but you still need to turn the switch at night to get the dash lit up. Here is the info from the Ford website: As it is a dealer fit option you should be able to have it installed at any time. It sounds like the Lux Pack comes with a different, light sensing, auto lights on feature. I wasn't aware of this until I read the posts from the guys that have lux pack cars - interesting.
  5. Cro What about a fire extinguisher? You know if you get one you will never need it.

As usual Brian, you've nailed it!
  7. Bigtrev Yes they do get a bit faster. What were you expecting? What sort of car are you comparing it to? I traded my T on a 220kw XR8. On a particular test hill where I come around a sharp corner and floor it the XR8 was good for 90kmh on the straight bit before braking for another sharp corner . When the T was new it could manage 100kmh. Now that it has about 10,000km on it it is good for about 110kmh. But the thing is, even at 110kmh it doesn't feel (or sound) as fast as the XR8 did at 90kmh. It is just so smooth that you don't realise just how fast you are going. That's why I ask what car are you comparing it too?
  8. Yes. They are a sensational tyre. I had a VT Late model camira that came with Pilot Sports as the OEM tyre! I nearly fell over when I went to replace them and they wanted $475 each for 16" 225s in 1998. Especially as on the Late model camira I only got about 20,000km out of them.
  9. I think you were lucky the car went in to the tree backwards, sideways, or head on would have been a lot worse for you. Good luck with sorting it all out and getting a new car Cro.
  10. My wifes had her custom plates for 10 years or more. I don't mind them on the T. There is something that appeals to my warped sense of humour with having girlie plates on such a blokey car. The plates on our other car I just love. They get comments all the time.
  11. Yep. As much as I think they are a bunch of d!cks, I think we would be worse off under the so-called opposition.

Plonky Someone I know was driving out in the country on the weekend and saw a fire truck coming up behind them. They pulled over and let the truck pass. Several kms later they were climbing a big hill that had passing lanes. The fire truck was only doing about 60kmh (this was in a 100 zone) so they passed the truck. But there was a line of cars sitting behind the truck, not passing it. The question is this; is it illegal to pass a fire truck in a situation like this?
  14. Profrat I understand what you are saying. I don’t find it so bad now, but your post reminded me of my initial response to driving the BA. I felt the steering was over assisted and not how I would really like it. I thought my AUII was better, but maybe the extra weight of the V8 helped in that department. The only thing I could suggest is to play around with tyre pressures. My car came from the dealer with only 26psi and was horrible. The other point to note is that you should get used to it after a few more kms.
  15. Despite the horrible weather, my family and I had a great time. Thanks to MissXR and DucatiJB for organising everything and thanks to the rest of you guys too. It is amazing how much attention 20 XRs in a line can create. I’m sorry I couldn’t stay around longer but it was just too cold, but it will now be easier to convince my family to come along on another one soon. My kids really enjoyed the ‘observation’ part of the cruise. They were keen on winning the prize. I think they managed 13 of the 20 items. So I have to ask – who won? Or was it cancelled due to bad light? The weather looks like it was much better on Sunday. Which way did you cruise home?
  16. there are photos here now, have a look Bathurst Cruise Gallery
  17. very very cold. heres a much colder pic from when we left... Note the ice on the right side of the windscreen still fun though
  18. Remember to bring extra warm clothes as it is going to be freezing at Bathurst this weekend. Central Tableands Wether Report from BOM Mount Panorama is 870 odd metres above sea level, so be prepared.
  19. What about THIS ONE ?
  20. Summing up... If the lights off, it’s on. If the lights on, it’s off. When you turn the car on, it’s on, and the lights off. If you turn it off then turn the car off, next time you turn the car on it will be on again and you will have to turn it off. If its on (the lights off) and you get on the throttle, then the light will flash on and off. Hope this clears it all up.
  21. So, was it the 'over educated' part of you or the 'acme alcohol induced instant idiot' part that made the decision to buy this car? Looks good - good luck with it.
  22. I think Geeas got the right idea. Sometimes I want a lightbulb that provides just enough power to see and get around. You know, a bit of mood lighting. Other times I just want it dazzling and really bright and I don't care about the life expectancy of the lightbulb because this is usually for short periods only. I think it may be possible to install a switch to change from mood-lighting, for everyday use, to performance lighting when I really need it.
  23. In my opinion the worst coloured globes to see are blue and red ones. Especially if they are flashing in you rear vision mirror.
  24. I too had trouble getting a test drive. The dealer was willing but the only one they had was already sold. I ended up test driving an NA sedan to get a feel for the car and a T ute to get a feel for the performance. I was OK with that - but I was coming from an AUII XR8 that I was very happy with.
