  1. December 03 build. Got it in early January 04. It has done 7500 km. Having wheel balance, alignment and rotate done today and oil change tomorrow. NOT by the dealer.
  2. My wife drives it more often than I do. She uses it for her daily commute to work. There is the 'must be over 35' insurance clause that avoids the issue with some friends. There are a couple of friends and relatives who do drive it every now and then and they love it too.
  3. Peter. Great work on the source of fuels in Eastern Oz. I would agree with your findings. I generally use Mobil 8000 because it is convenient to where I live and have found it to be consistantly as good as or better than Optimax, but I think this comes down to the fuel going off. I have found Caltex Vortex (96 Ron) to be better than BP Ultimate (supposedly 98 ). This is my experience over a couple of years , mainly with my AUII XR8 which was very fuel sensitive.
  4. NYOPA Is this happening this (Easter) week end?
  5. You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen that said 'Parking Fine.' So that was nice.
  6. Love dogs, hate cats. I live in an enviromentally protected area and can't believe the number of neighbours who let their cats roam at night. I am constantly finding dead birds, lizards and small marsupials. I have 2 dogs that have the run of the back yard (nearly an acre of bush) but they couldn't catch a cold if you left them in the rain for a month. There is no such thing as a stealthy labradore. We have recently had a red-belly take up residence in the front yard and I think this is keeping the neighbours cats away. I would rather have the snake than the cats!

    8 or 6t

Either the 6T or 8 will be a great car and although the T may be faster the 8 has plenty of performance for most use. Whilst the T is also cheaper there may be some deals to be had on an 8 due to lower demand. The final decision is obviously up to you but there are a few factors worth considering. If you’re planning on towing anything heavier than a box trailer then go the 8. The T can only tow up to 1600kg. The 8 – 2300kg. If you mostly drive in city traffic then go the 6T in an auto. It is a smoother, quieter ride and uses a bit less fuel when driven lightly. If you are planning to modify the car for more power then go the 6T. The potential is enormous. If you just have to have the sound of an 8 then go that way although the T sounds pretty good too. Other than these factors, if you still can’t decide, it may come down to what sort of deal you can get .
  8. Heres a picture I took at C & V trying to capture the dish in Brians wheels. Looks good in the picture but still doesn't do it justice.
  9. I think the old semi-perforated leather is around the $2k mark. The sports leather is more like $2.5k.
  10. Before the T I had an AUII XR8 which was very fuel fussy. It required good 98 ron fuel or it would ping. I found that my local Mobil provided the most consistent fuel, the Optimax (about 15km away) was a bit hit and miss regarding quality and the Mobil near my wife’s work was so bad that she had to stop filling up there. At the APS day at C & V, Dave explained that fuel has a shelf life and starts to go off after a while. This would explain the inconsistency that I have experienced. My local Mobil is very busy. The other 2 places I mentioned probably did not have the same turnover in PULP. This may also explain why some people swear by a certain fuel whilst others have had bad experiences with it. So I would say that where you buy your fuel is just as important as what fuel you buy.
  11. Brian. It was a pleasure to meet you and see your car at C & V last weekend. Whilst I will never mod my car to that extent I can appreciate what you have achieved. You should be very proud of your car. I also appreciate the time and effort you have put into the research and development of your T and feel that you make a huge contribution to this forum with your knowledge and experience.
  12. And then you get a free enlargment. I presume there would be more photos taken for a before and after comparison.

    Spiderbait

I don’t have a problem with covers so much as the manufactured pop hits that are prevalent these days, with many of them seeming to do covers of older songs. In fact every second or third song these days seems to be a cover. However if an established band/artist does a cover in their own style then quite often I like it. This has been going on for years. Eric Clapton has covered a variety of artists from JJ Cale (Cocaine and After Midnight) to Bob Marley (I Shot the Sheriff) and Robert Johnson (Crossroads). In fact he has recently released an entire album of Robert Johnson covers. Sometimes the cover has become more famous than the original. The Rolling Stones Little Red Rooster is a recognised classic but is a cover of a Willie Dixon blues song. Muddy Waters has also done an acceptable (to me) cover of this song. More recently I haven’t minded some covers: Grinspoon’s version of INXS’s Don’t Change Smashmouths version of the Monkeys (a manufactured band) I’m a Believer But have detested others from established artists: Madonna’s version of American Pie The Moulin Rouge version of Lady Marmalade I like this Spiderbait version of Black Betty. It’s a good song performed in the Spiderbait style.
  14. Sorry Phantom XR8. I didn't mean to offend. Just re-wording the joke to help you get it.
  15. I still don't get it Some people are so facking slow
  16. The post with an id of 100,000 actually occured on Mar 11 at 12:11pm. It was Plonky - http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...ndpost&p=100000 The board statistics rolled over to 100,000 on Mar 18 at 4:41 pm. At this stage the board stats were 2729 behind the latest post number. I don't know why the stats don't agree with the last ID, perhaps it is when you post and then you loose the server connection. Who knows. Anyway I checked this about half an hour after the 100,000th post. At present the count is out by 2739. Anyway the posts that occured around the time that the board stat hit 100,000 were: Ken - http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...ndpost&p=102728 Me - http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...ndpost&p=102729 iaschmidt - http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...ndpost&p=102730 So I reckon it was more than likely post 102729, which was me, but it could have been either of the others depending on when or why the stats differ to the ID.
  17. If they add this sort of Black Box logging technology the new car industry will face a serious downturn. I, for one, would not buy a new car with a black box in it.
  18. Vik Have you tried watching the movie The Wizard of Oz with Dark Side of the Moon as the soundtrack. It ties in so well that there has even been speculation that it was done deliberately. You cue up the DSOTM cd (press play then pause straight away). Then start the Wizard of OZ dvd. After the MGM lion roars for the third time un-pause the CD and turn down the TV volume. For more info on this, search the interweb for 'Dark Side of the Rainbow'
  19. They have the inlet duct from the stock six fitted, so they can be started and driven. This is removed and the T intake and intercooler etc fitted at FPV. So they must have made a change to overcome the problem. That makes sense. Turbotom - Yes they all go through FPV.
  20. I was talking to the APS guys at C & V on saturday and one of them said Ford went out on a limb and estimated 2,500 Turbos a year based on sales of the supercharged six Holden. The engines are made in Geelong with the Turbo bolted on but no plumbing (intercooler etc). They are put in the car on the normal Broadmedows production line and have to be pushed off the end because they don't run. They then have to be moved somehow to FPV, which is about 1km away but across the other side of the Hume Hwy. Now this wouldn't be a major problem except production has hit about 10,000 pa and looks like remaining there. It is a real problem to have to manhandle 10,000 cars around in a place that is not really set up for it.
  21. To the girl to the right of DSOTM: Wish you were here.
  22. I'm sorry that I had to go. Thanks for putting the video up for everyone to see. It sounds pretty good too, bouncing off the rev limiter.

    NRL

Panthers Living in the Blue Mountains they are my local team. My first full-time job after school was with Panthers, during the move from the old club to the new monstrosity. It's good to see them doing well. When they used to wear the brown and white they were known as the chocolate soldiers and had the habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
  24. Sorry I didn't take more photos. I'm also sorry I had to leave pretty much as soon as it finished. :banghead. I would have loved to see the C&V Orange beast in a cloud of smoke. It looked awesome sitting in the workshop.
  25. Dankman's T on the dyno - cranking out an amazing 215rwkw stock standard. I have to say the noise these things make at full song in a confined space is awesome.
