  1. Happy B'day james !! you old man........just that much closer to 30 mate then it's all down hill at over 340rwk Brad
  2. Already done mate lol the guys from Tas are pretty stoked there is interest for a cruise over there. I have had stoney help out a far bit and also XR0500 who works in the Prince of Wales hotel in Battery Point who is trying to do us a good deal if we stay there the first night and also the last night before we come back. Which again so as to not stuff him around needs to have confirmed numbers. Brad
  3. Stoney from tas sent me last years Targa Tasmania Mag which has some really good info in it. In particular a mob called TasVacations, they actually organise car club cruises. They have done Ferrari, Porche, Nissan, and a few more. They can help organise alot of things and in conjunction with what I have done so far it should make for a really good cruise. They highly recommend doing a day at Simmons Planes on the last day of the cruise. They are sending me various bits of info. So once I have that I will post alot more details and more confirmed details. The boat leaves 8pm every night so the date of the 20th of October could be changed to Monday the 19th which means we would arrive in Tas on the morning of Tuesday the 20th. Going through them they offer discounts on various things one being 10% off the cost of the boat fare. I do need to confirm numbers as early as possible though and then organise the money side of things so guys only if you are genuinly interested please add your name to the list in the Tassie Cruise thread. Cheers Brad
  4. Thanks Pat, I've emailed them along with a couple others just to make sure I cover the bases. I'd rather hit 380-390 and be happy satisfied and confident in the work done than hit 430 and have it blow me up 3 months after. Brad
  5. loaded state means car full of passengers and boot filled with contents to the manufactures rated capacity. Brad
  6. I checked vic roads for this a while back. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/RulesS...rdsInformation/ In a PDF doc it states: 4. Ground Clearance "The ground clearance of a vehicle measured from a horitontal road surface to any point on the underside of the vehicle except the tyres, wheels and wheel hubs and brake backing plates shall, with the vehicle located in it's loaded state as specified by the manufacturer be not less than: * for any point in the width of the vehicle which is within one metre fore and aft of any axle, 100mm * for the mid-point between any two consecutive axels, the dimension in millimetres obtained by multiplying the distance in metres between those two axels by 33.33" 5.Lowering or Raising of Vehicles " A vehicle may be lowered or raised, provided the clearance between a suspension component and it's assosiated bump stop is not altered by more than 1/3 of that specified by the manufacturer. in addition, the original relationship between the front and rear suspension heights must not be unduly affected. Suspension coil springs must not be shortened by cutting. If lowering blocks are used, they must be manufactured from either steel, aluminium or a metal of equivalent hardness." I saved that pdf a while back as it is a good reference guide when thinking about mods. Plus if you get pulled over is good to know and understand the difference between legal and illegal. brad
  7. Hi guys, looking into engine mods this year and increasing power and performance levels, and have researched alot of options down here in melbourne, and was just wondering if any of you could give me feedback on the products and service at atomic performance products. I'll be looking at either a bigger/better bottom end or a rebuild not sure at this stage. If anyone has had this done id appreciate any feedback. Cheers Brad
  8. For the ba/bf try here: http://phatcustomkits.com.au/ they chop a fibreglass buldge onto your bonnet. I looked into some exterior mods for myself and got onto these guys from someone else on here. Only thing is after time you're risking warping from the heat. If I get to the stage of actually doing this I will be using an XR8 hood and getting it fabricated. Unfortunately dont know where to pick up one for the FG though sorry. Hope it helps. Brad
  9. I'm running a Xforce SS exhaust 3" but increasing by an extra 50rwk just wanting to find out if the Xforce single 3.5” with 4” dump is more than enough or if the Nizpro one is a good investment.
  10. Some further research has led to another option If you want to save money, which is to put an xforce single 3.5” with 4” dump which would be up to around $1000 cheaper, and still make good power. Just another option for me to stew over lol Brad
  11. Thanks mate will post updates as the changes occur. Nice job on the interior btw, also who did you get the black fibro/plastic dash surround from ? Not a priority right at the moment for me but around the air vents just above the radio/cd just showing signs of fading etc Cheers Brad
  12. Nice job mate im also looking into the same kit. Spoke to Alex from Plazmaman and he recommended that I should upgrade the cooler to one of their pro series 1000hp units , which he said should pick up an easy 15 - 20 rwkws . He mentioned most of their customers are seeing 360-370 with that boost and their option 1 kit, if there is good hard ware on the car. I'm chasing about 390rwk and Nizpro do one that they call the "big big cooler". It still uses the same "intercooler but has a larger alloy cast end tank that takes a 63mm inside diameter hot side intercooler pipe", which is actually a rubber/kevlar replacement just bigger. Id also appreciate any feedback from those who have had this one done so as to compare. Cheers Brad
  13. Yeah for sure tyres have been one thing I have been researching the longest above anything. Alot of the guys I speak to at tyre places have the opinion that tyres in excess of $400 each are beneficial for high speed driving whether it be track days or drag as they hold their shape and do not flex as much. At the moment im using michellin which set me back about $260 each, they've been one of the best tyres ive had but put the foot down and I still get w/s in 2nd. Anyway thanks again for the comments guys I'll start a new thread and post pics results dyno blah as they occur. Cheers Brad
  14. At the end of the day it comes down to how you drive it, you could have 241rwk or even 141rwk you still get wheel spin if you drive like a wa*ker, which alot of people do. There are alot of drivers with many different cars who chose to punch it off the line or whereever they go just because they can, and so I dont find ripping it that hard and creating that wheel spin which potentially damages the motor and chews through rubber that appealing whatsoever. I can drive anywhere and go no higher than 3000rpm between gear changes and not even hear turbo spool up or the bov.
  15. Have gotten some more confirmed prices on the things I mentioned which will get me to the 380-390 mark and not much more at all. As per one of the other post's I wont be using the opt 6 clutch as it isnt suited for the style of driving so again will be one of the ones I mentioned previosly. The brakes for me come down to personal preference in terms of when you do them imo. So I've planned to do the engine mods first, and I will be going for Brembo's front and rear so I do need to go for a bigger rim, but still havent settled on a look yet. Once the mods are done it won't be that long before the brakes do get done so If I can't control myself and drive responsibly with an extra 50rwk then I have no business driving these cars. Plus the brakes im running now arent exactly stock they are an upgrade and do pretty well at pulling up 341rwk. In anycase the orginal point of the post was to get ideas and advice for a bigger turbo, so as I'm more than likely going to keep the turbo I have I'll repost details of the next mods with results in another forum. Brad
  16. LOL when I got the new tyres put on the day after I got it they discovered 2 of the caps were glued in with a black silicone similar to sikaflex. Cost me $60 for 2 new ones from fraud !! The number has been revised to between 380-390 rear. Speaking to a few people to get the 450 I was looking for was gona cost way more than I can afford. Check out the turbo thread I started to see what im looking at using/doing let me know what you think. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53062 When we gona see pics of the beast mate?
  17. Thanks mate ive been looking into different things for a while, realistically from what I have researched I'll never hit 450 unless I threw 30k at the car. I've compromised to the more achievable 380-390 figure. But also decided that with that figure I probably wont end up changing the turbo as one thing that was pointed out was that there is no point having a car capable of those numbers if you dont like or enjoy driving it, and putting a bigger turbo on will give me more lag which I do not want. I've been speaking to a friend of the family about things also to get some advise. So at the moment I am looking into: - built f6 motor and replace the rods and increase boost to 18-19 - either a second hand AP clutch with 1 ceramic disk or opt 5 clutch (not using the car for dragging so have been told opt 6 clutch could be too aggressive) - Latest spec Nizpro IC - Still looking at the nizpro 4" through exhaust (but also been advised an xforce single 3.5" with 4" dump would be up to $1000 cheaper, and still make good power) - possibly a bigger cooler - And though it has no influence on power a bigger diff either 4.10 or 3.75 which is a std BF diff. Outside of that im then up for bigger brakes and therefore bigger wheels as just running the stock 17's atm, but theres another 8k alone lol Anyway it's like how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time, so when I speak to Simon next week I'll just have to ask if this is the right direction to head in, and how can or should it be broken down and then just take it from there. Thanks again for the replies guy's Brad
  18. Well as I said in another post mate ive put my leave in so between myself and the other few that have shown interest (which includes the tassie boys and girls) if there's only 5 of us then so be it lol. Ive wanted to drive through the targa routes for years now, and I finally I have a car worthy of doing that. Stoney sent me last years targa magazine which has so much info. So shortly I'll be posting up the routes and itinerary which will include the caravan parks to stay in and also the petrol stations. My challenge there will be getting deposits paid to the places that require it. Only knowing people by a screen name on a computer does make people a bit wary. However I am a registered member bound my rules and regs etc and im sure there are ways to work that out. Brad
  19. Thanks IB much appreciated. It certainly is a great deal to organise and follow up. One thing that has frustrated me is that I cant paste an excel document into a post. I have spreadsheets saved on petrol stations and caravan parks and spirit of tasmania costing but un able to post in here. I think what I may end up doing is within the tassie thread itself have individual topics for each relevent bit of info such as the cruise ship over there, the petrol, the accomodation and the routes selected. That way people dont need to sift through pages of random back and forth posts. I actually submitted my leave request a couple of weeks ago so it's making me get into gear even more. Thanks for the support hope you can make it down. Brad
  20. Yeah seems that way, only early days yet though I guess, and between factoring in a built engine and bigger turbo, and exhaust, oil pump and bigger clutch etc I know I'll be lookin at 10k for sure which doing over 18-24 months im fine with
  21. Thanks mate im hopefully coming along to the feb 22 cruise so I'll ask how it's been going with the heat factor and the fibre glass. I may be putting my ext mods off a bit longer as the $$ are adding up with the engine mods im looking into. Still love that kit though
  22. yeah but I didnt feel like part of the club, now its offically in here I do. Dont deny me the glory James besides I'll hopefully be in the 400 club later this year with a built engine Blueprint and vixen check out the turbo forum thread for details of what im wanting to do and how http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53062
  23. Hi all just a couple pics (inc dyno) of the beast. Hopefully be a part of the 400+ club this year sometime Brad
