1. Yeah I heard last time the Brisbane and Perth shows were a low turn out. The Melbourne one I went to sold out fairly quick which included the 50 $350 meet and greet tickets they had, and they've had good C.D sales, so dont know if it's poor advertising or that fans just couldn't be bothered going or what. Doesnt phase me how many are there or not there really they're awesome performers and put on a great show so im looking forward to it.
2. GO DOGGIES !!!
3. Driving down the eastern freeway this morning with guy's from work on the way to a meeting and look across and see a guy in an old model corolla reading the paper spread out over the steering wheel while crawling along in the middle of peak hour. Some people have no clue
4. Got my DT meet and greet ticket for December 7th at The Palais. Anyone else going?
5. Some ppl on here need to stop searching for excuses and just cop it sweet. From the my car was better then theirs, to the short on quota day or they just didnt like the look of me. Paranoia and look in the mirror comes to mind. I.B. Sorry but while you usually have genuine and informative points to share to say "cop it sweet" is for me a "cop out" These laws were brought in before mobile phones had GPS applications, and all the other technological advancements they have. The law on mobile phones is needed in the aid of preventing accidents and injury, which I completely agree with. However this law needs to be ammended to coincide and be relative with the changes of today's technological market and the applications of that technology. To say we should just cop it sweet particularly on the subject of being fined for using a mobile as a GPS that is held in it's cradle is for me, as a tax payer, a voter and a citizen of this country completely unacceptable. It wasnt that long ago (in the grand scheme of things) that people were sent to their death for stealing a loaf of bread. Do we still practice that? No because times change, as does society and the people that live within. And it wasnt that long ago that if you said the term "hoon law" or were told you could have a mobile device that could show you the way to your destination, turn your lights and climate control on and god knows what else, people would have looked at you stupid. What am I going to do about it? I don't know...give me a petition to sign and I will, ask me to participate in a study on the subject, or write a letter to my Cr and I will. This is not about getting a sympathy vote or giving the police an ear bash it's about being fair and being just, and also having some commonsense. Brad
6. While it's slightly off topic, either way whether it is during an emergency or not, I don't see why they should have the exemption. To say because they are trained and it is part of their job role just means other people that have a job which requires them to drive should be exempt also. IMO it doesnt matter how well you drive what training you have done and how often you do it, you are just as human as everyone else out there behind a wheel where anything can happen and mistakes can be made, and whether you drive a police car, ambulance, fire truck, or any other vehicle, driving with one hand on the steering wheel increases your chance of having or causing an accident hence why it is an offence to use a mobile phone. Brad
7. 297 Driver to have proper control of a vehicle etc (1) A driver must not drive a vehicle unless the driver has proper control of the vehicle. Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units. I.B. So how do you have proper control of a vehicle whilst talking into a C.B Radio. I'm not against C.B's by any means, I am however against a law that says I cannot use my mobile as a GPS while sitting in it's cradle. The Law and Justice will remain blind as long as it classes using a C.B radio while driving safe and legal and then looks upon using a mobile phone as a GPS device housed in some form of cradle or docking station as not safe and illegal. As for emergency vehicles, how can it be justified that during an emergency situation where the driver is driving outside of normal driving conditions such as extra speed, more continuous lane changes, and going through intersections and red lights etc with adrenalin racing, that they should be exempt from these laws. I am sure that all emergency service personal go through specific driver training. But do they train while holding a 2-way radio, or C.B unit or mobile phone? I don't know? Surely driving in the manner that is sometimes needed and required in these fields puts others at risk if they have one hand on the steering wheel. Is it an option that when they do not have a partner / passenger with them that even they must be connected to a hands free device? Brad
8. I think the one thing that does need to change is make it consistent across the board, as mentioned above with a hands free, how do you dial a number? You still need to push buttons, same as inputing a new destination with a GPS, and then of course the many people out there who feel the need to groom themselves while behind the wheel. I understand why the penalties are harsh but they need to be fair and across the board to include all types of distractions, isolating it to mobile phones will only keep the law makers open to public criticism. Brad
9. I think what you need to remember mate is - that person talking or just looking at their phone can and has turned into that person looking at their phone who just run up the arse of a car or hit a bike rider or pedestrian. We can debate the topic of quota's and revenue raising until the end of the earth, and whether you do agree or disagree with the higher penalties being in place for preventative purposes or not, I'm sure that hearing some of these real stories about those who have been caught using or looking at their phone, or some other offence has stuck in your mind. And possibly made you re-think answering the phone, or sending a message, or putting your foot down just that much harder to overtake or whatever. And I think that's the message they want to get across - change the behaviour change the mind set of someone who wouldnt think twice about doing something like that to someone who does think about what could happen as a result of their actions. Even being stationary things can happen that we don't think could, and the problem is today you're stopped at the lights, tommorrow you're only doing 10kph next week you're doing 40kph and in a school zone etc etc. Brad
10. Yeah they're 20's on the front and 22's on the rear
11. Possibly worth a phone call to a solicitor to just ask the question - 'Is it worth fighting'? But don't like your chances after seeing this on vic roads' website: The law It is illegal in all Australian states and territories to use a hand-held mobile phone while driving. This includes: Talking Texting Playing games Taking photos/video Using any other function on your phone. Using a hand held mobile phone is also illegal when your vehicle is stationary but not parked e.g. when you’re stopped at traffic lights. Drivers who break this law in Victoria face an on-the-spot fine and incur three demerit points. Learner and P1 drivers are not permitted to use a hand-held or hands-free mobile phone while driving. As you said being dark it made the inside of the car light up, but I wonder if you had of said that you just looked over at it instead of saying you picked it up whether that would have given you grounds to fight it, or even get let off with a warning. That could throw doubt into it, glancing across to look at the light coming from your phone is no more illegal than turning your head being distracted from a police, fire, or ambulance light, or any other light for that matter. I'd say admitting that you picked it up no matter how low you kept it is the key point. Sorry mate, if you told that story as a hypothetical I reckon more than half the people you told would say the cop would use discretion and let you off with a warning.
12. Compact, sporty, roomy what else could you want lol

It's ok Tab I feel your pain it's like they got to the last day of designing it and they decided it was poets day and said "that'll do" it's beer o'clock lol......was actually looking at the G6E due to the likely hood I'll come back with restrictions
14. ...Because each offence is looked at on it's own merit. If it is identical circumstances then yes it should be the same. I had only one car around me at the time (the one I was overtaking) it was early morning on a Sunday in a straight line. This is why my charge was listed as drive at speed over the speed limit, and not speed dangerous. I don't know the full details of the guy that did recieve the jail time because I did not ask and the solicitor did not go into details. But to get 4 months, a bigger fine and longer cancellation of license, with no prior history of similar offences I can only assume he had the more serious charge. The other thing that really doesnt go in your favour is acting stupid, or coy or thinking you are smarter than the court. One of the cases before mine was a repeat drink driver who swore he had never been to court before, however court records showed that he had. The Magistrate was clearly less than happy, and as such got very short with him and his solicitor. Seeing that, and along with my Solicitor telling me the more he speaks the worse the sentence can be really just demonstrated the severity of the matter and how frequent this must be happening, and the zero tolerance that is shown towards these kinds of charges. At the end of the day you can argue that the penalties are too harsh but they are harsh for a reason. When your actions put you in a position of endangering life, and property, or both then something needs to be done to prevent future repeat and new offenders. Is it killing me 1 month in?? Hell yes it is, it's frustrating having to rely on lifts, or public transport, it sucks having to ride, and the little things such as needing to do shopping, or going out, and when people ask why you're not driving whether I tell them the truth or not you just feel ashamed. And the one thing I know for sure is that I will not allow myself to be in the same position again, yes because of the inconvenience to my life but especially because the next time could be the time when someone is hurt or killed. Brad
15. Damn Darren 90k !!....personally If I had 90k to throw away into a car think I'd be happier buying a BF Typhoon, and BF GT to enjoy best of both worlds lol. Each to their own I guess.
16. Hi all came across this on motorsport wheels' (in Dandennong) website. Dont know if it has been seen around anywhere or on here or if someone on here knows who it belongs to, but would be interesting to know how they did it, what was involved, how long and how much coin was involved.
17. Thanks for sharing your experience mate. Having riden the bike for a bit you get to see up close and personal some of the wankers that sit behind a steering wheel and you just think you idiot, but then you realise to yourself that, at one time or another that has been you. And that's when you get a real clear picture in your head of what could actually happen. Again thanks to everyone for their comments, riding both sucks and blows and public transport......well there's another post all together!!....but on a positive im getting back some of the fitness I used to have Cheers Brad
18. At the end of the day it comes down to the attitude and the actions of the person behind the wheel, you don't need a heavily modified high performance car to drive like an idiot. If anyone is unsure I would highly recommend they check out the law's so they have a full understanding. I'll be honest I didnt know much about the hoon law or the penalties that came with it. The thing that saved me was the charge. I was officially charged with "driving at speed over the speed limit", for Jail to come into it the charge would have fallen under the term "speed dangerous" this charge is used when other people are put in direct danger as a result of your actions, e.g. weaving in and out of lanes either at speed or in a hazardous manner, doing burnouts in uncontrolled areas etc. I too thought jail was a bit harsh but you only need to see pages out of the paper each week or stories on the news about someone that wrapped their car around a tree or colided with another car, and I cant even begin to think how I would be feeling if I had killed or seriously injured someone. The positive out of this is that Im still here, as is anyone of the people I could have impacted on and I now have one of those life lessons that can help others. Brad
19. Thanks for the words guy's, really appreciated. My work focuses alot on workplace safety and the whole going home safe and what motivates you to stay safe etc, and I actually linked that to the offence in a statement I wrote for court that my solicitor used with the references I had. Like whats been mentioned just one of those life lessons, that I'm pretty sure I will never forget and if me going through this has either saved my life or someone else's then I'll hand the key's over every time. Brad
20. I've been thinking long and hard about whether to share this information, due to the fact I have levels of disappointment and embarassment within myself, however as I swallow my pride I realise there is a greater good and bigger picture to convey to others. Late last year I had an incident in which I exceeded the speed limit. Knowing I had exceeded the limit by a substantial amount and was dreading what kind of fine I would recieve, it was not until mid January until I found out not only how much I had gone over but what I was about to go through. I came home from work to find a Police Car in my driveway, and after a couple minutes of discussions confirming who I was, if I was the sole driver of the car and some other details, I was informed that I was being charged under the hoon law. I was shown paperwork that showed the details of the offence including multiple photo's, and a date and time in which I was to surrender my car for a 48 hour period. After further discussions with the constable, he then informed me that I would recieve court papers in the mail telling me when and where I would need to appear in court, and that the actual charge against me would be outlined. Between then and when the court papers arrived my life went on hold, I had to cancel holidays and other events I had planned, as they were plans that involved the car, and I could not commit to things that others were planning. From there I was able to contact a Solicitor who specialises in this very type of offence, and began discussions with him about the incident, the possible penalties, my driving history, and other personal details. After one discussion the Solicitor informed me that the week prior he had seen a guy in his mid 20's (few years younger than me) recieve 4 months Jail $2000 fine and 3 years loss of license for doing less than what I was. I went in a downward spiral of depression with so many things going through my head, I didnt know what to do, say or who to turn to. I then started to plan for the inevitable. I knew that I would lose my license, so I started looking at public transport options, looking at getting back on the pushy and getting prices on bikes etc. I also had to inform work and keep them informed at the progress of things, which was the point in which I was facing imprisonment. It's a very surreal experience looking into the eyes of your bosses and telling them that there is a possibility you could be going to jail. To fast forward to present day and not lose the point of this post, I have just recently began an 18 month cancellation of my license, (which means I will have to go for my license again) paid over $2000 in Solicitor fee's and a further $800 fine plus the $160 impound fine. I have recieved imense help and support from those around me which has helped me get through the whole process, and the biggest lesson I have learned coming out of this is that I could have been facing either much more serious charges such as culpable driving, or reckless driving from seriously injuring or even killing someone, or that my family could have spent the last 7 months mourning the loss of their, son, brother & friend. I love these cars with a passion and I have not decided whether to even sell it or not, but I have learned a very hard lesson about responsibility and being accountable for your actions. The amazing high that driving these cars can give you can be taken away in a few seconds of stupidity and ignorance that at the time allowed me to forget the many possibilities that could of happened. There is nobody else to shift blame for what I did and as such I will 'do my time' so to speak. I realise that this maybe a long and in depth post to take in but I wanted to give some of the specific experiences that I have, and am going through in the hope that the next time you are out and decide to put your foot down, you might just remember my rant and think twice. Thanks all for reading. Brad
