As you know mate I've had it just over a year, I reckon ive taken it past 4000 rpm maybe 5 times and to 5000 rmp once. Since I have had a couple others drive I have been in the car nearly everytime and the one person that has driven it on her own knows how much it means to me, and apart from riding the clutch a couple of times like when parking or going slow into a driveway she's taken good care of it. Mark's gonna take it out and have a look to see which type of opt 3 it is so he can tell Mal, I wanna get a couple pics and then he will be sending it back to Mal. In all honesty mate I'm thinking ofselling up. Between the CV joint going the pissy plastic part on the master cylinder and now this, the cost of getting these things fixed is out weighing the fun of driving it. I'm looking at over 2 grand now. If I was doin track days or it was being driven hard then I'd be able to accept it easier, but not from general daily driving. Anyway see what happens

Car going into Dynomotive on Tuesday, I spoke to Mal in Qld on Monday as did Mark from Dynomotive, and will be having Mal's ACE Opt 3 Plus Clutch installed. Is rated to 410rwk which is more than enough for me. Will try and get some pics of the old Opt 3 Clutch before it is sent back to Mal. Interested to see how worn it is, as the car pretty much doesnt have any grab left. Brad

Thanks mate, one thing that I do alot is use the gears to slow down. Dont know if that can help cause the problem or not but it's something ive always done as it's how I was taught to drive. I had a look to see if anyone was selling an opt 3 clutch but all that was there which only sold the other day was an opt 5 which he was going to let go for $500. Looking around on MalWoods page looks like a brand new opt 3 is approx $1500 plus fitting. Dont know what you guy's charge or Nizpro for that matter but either way is going to hurt the hip pocket. Cheers Brad

Well went to take it for the drive down to the pool and only got around the block. When you take off on first it feels like you're taking off in 3rd. I don't smell anything and don't hear or feel anything as I change gears either. How much will a MW3 set me back? My concern is that the one I have is only a bit over 2 years old. Cheers Brad

Well Monday week I'll know for sure, obviously im hoping you're wrong lol, but if that is the case any suggestions on what replacement to go for? Cheers Brad
-
Nah neither of us do that, there is plenty of room on the left to rest your foot without feeling the need to put it on the clutch. He drives a little pulsar Q so it's a bit of a thrill for him obviously, and being a Expensive Daewoo man he has actually said my car would make him change teams, the most he got it up to was about 5000 rpm after taking off from the lights and was met with a short hard jab to his arm right after, which is something I reckon I have done maybe twice in the year and a bit ive had the car. But cos he did ride the clutch a couple times at lights I did smell, not so much a burning smell but a smell that basically was like the clutch was saying 'um excuse me you need to back off'. Trevs will give your suggestion a go soon and let you know. It's another stinker already so few of us are heading down to the pool so I'll see how it go's on a 10 min trip. Cheers Brad
-
Interesting you say Trevs, as only the night before I filled up with Ultimate for the first time in probably 6 months. Have been using V Power for quite a while. Will see how it is in the morning and then see how it go's throughout the week until I can get it to the Nizpro boys. Cheers Brad

Yeah mate had a thought it could be the clutch, as the cousin did ride it a bit, and found it hard to get used to. It's a 6 speed Manual T56 with Mal Wood Opt 3 Clutch. Does it in every gear except 6th as didnt use it today. Brad

So road trip... Pack the car off down to Gumbya Park with couple friends and couple kids, was a stinker of a day but had an awesome time especially the water slide and the tobogan ride haha, anyway leave for the day notice on the way home while my cousin was driving, what I thought was him being too accelerator happy was in fact an issue with the car over reving and taking a while to actually grab power. Everytime he just tapped the accelerator instead of feeling the power transfer through to the wheels, the turbo spooled up and the rev's just shot up dramatically and we basically didnt gain any extra speed, power or momentum on the road. It was only if he drove like a granny and slowly accelerated and changed through the gears did it sound normal. I have requested a service at Nizpro once they reopen in another week so hopefully it is nothing major but thought id just ask if anyone has experienced this before or knows what it could be. Cheers Brad

LOL yeah mate I am one of them A mate sent me an email about the laws of physics which showed a couple of very generous hot young girls offering up their chest's for the cause. Something about the different types of motion and movement. Brad

Love Golf and a few games of poker with the boys, Golf with carts after it has been raining is usually an extra bonus, also enjoy having a hit of tennis and a swim. Started back at the gym late last year, and along with the typical cardio and circuit work have gotten into boxing training and while it leaves me keeled over on the ground at the end, it still feels awesome. My trainer is pretty full on so half the time im wanting to miss the pad and connect with his throat !! Brad

From what I heard, the fines were reduced as a result of him changing the speed zone on the notice of infringement so if they were caught doing 92 in a 70 he would change it to say they were caught in an 80 zone and so on. What would the charge be?....Falsifying legal documents? Freud even? Brad

No link mate, only info I have is what I read in the Herald Sun today and saw on a current affair tonight, im sure tere is an article on ninemsn or something. Brad

Ok with the risk of being outcast by starting yet another police topic and possibly even being banned for a month lol I thought id ask what does everyone think of what happened with the police seargent of 32 years that has been dismissed from the force due to adminstering his own disgression when handing out fines. There are alot of opinions out there and of course a current affair has jumped all over it, but as car enthusiast's we have all im sure at one time or another talked about our experiences with the boys and girls in blue. It was reported that over the last 2 years there were 100's of motorists that had fines reduced to lesser amounts and that 4 of which should have lost their license because of the speed they were driving, in particular one person clocked doing 123km in a 60km zone which for me personally does leave a sour taste in my mouth, but the question being floated around is - if you are pulled over and the fine is reduced or you're even let off with a warning, does it make you more likely to learn from it and be a more safer driver and slow down more, and realise how lucky you are? Because im pretty sure there won't be too many officers out there who will now show the leaniency they gave before in fear of receiving the same treatment. Please do not make this a police bashing thread. Remember the purpose of these forums, be respectful and be constructive, and share your thoughts not your emotions. Thanks Brad

I've been dealing with the public and in retail for the better part of 10 years now, and there has certainly been a shift towards people being more demanding and "expecting" at times more than they deserve or are entitled to. I can deal with pretty much anything and in the company I work for we push customer service heavily and talk about the lifetime value of a customer etc, but when a person starts yelling and swearing or looking like they want to get physical then that's where the line is drawn. No sale, or return value of a customer is worth my safety and that of my team. Ive had to call the police on numerous times for people who refuse to leave when asked or begin to get agressive. At the end of the day we are only human and although it is no excuse to act the way they do, at times we forget that the customer themselves just may have had the worst day of their life for whatever reason, and you happened to be the straw that broke the camels back and sent them over the edge. Again not an excuse but food for thought that a little bit of empathy towards them can go along way. I let the person get out what they want to say, and if they start shouting or swearing or both, I simply tell them that I am here to try and help but if you continue talking to me in that way then they will be asked to leave. Happy to listen but talk to me with respect and like an adult. Most of the time when I am faced with that scenario and I have said that to them, they calm down immediately and continue their conversation. In todays market people are wanting the product to be better quality, have more benefits, last longer and be cheaper. Unfortunately it doesnt work like that, the old saying you get what you pay for, still applies. All you can do is treat each situation on it's own meritt and do the best you can to achieve that win win outcome. Brad

As for me, I have learnt my lesson. I'll stick to the legal dragways from here on in. Victory in a street race is not worth the 3 month suspension that follows... Take it from me mate, keeping calm as you did and being respectful saved you more than 3 months. Im 4 months into 18 months worth of walking, bike riding, and public transport, as well as being over $3500 lighter in my bank balance thanks to solicitor fees, impound fee's and fines. Whether they were legite or not, you have had your wake up call, just as I did. You now have a real life story that may help someone else rethink their urge to give it a crack. Brad
