  1. When I took my ute for its 15000 km service last week, I went to the parts shop to see if I can buy those side stickers which the FPV have on them. I was told that they can't sell them if my ute isn't FPV ute. But the guy did suggest that I can have it done at some local bodywork shops. To make my ute looks different, I have ordered a set of 17" non-Ford wheels, I were trying to get a set from ebay but most of them have the 235/45 tyres on them, the FG uses 245/45-17 (standard) or 245/40-18 which is what I have on my ute as it came with the sport pack. The 18" isn't really suitable for rough building sites, that's why I ordered a set of 17". Lucky they aren't too expensive, my local tyre shop do a set of ROH alloys with 245/45-17 tyre for $1588.
  2. I have had the 15,000 km service on my FGT ute last week, it was running a bit "rich" before (according to the Gentech Performance Shop), after the service, the ute seems to be running much better with better fuel consumption. The dealer said that they updated the programs etc....But still couldn't fix the "The Transmission Not in Park" warning which came on when opening the door after the ute was parked without locking the doors. It isn't a big problem just annoying sometime. They also replaced the faulty driver side window switch. Otherwise I am quite happy with ute so far. The windscreen does get a bit hazy with light rain, don't bother me much as I can't see very well anyway.
  3. Because of the government investment grant scheme on business vehicles, some dealers are taking the advantge on buyers, I bought my FGT Ute before the financial crises, even then I got some discount from the dealer. The ute has been just short of amazing in terms of comfort and performance, but then I don't push it to the limit. The ute came with the sport pack, the 18" wheels aren't really suitable for building sites, I have ordered a set of 17". I read it from a magazine, in couple years time, the xr8 will have a more powerful, lighter V8 engine, but then it is better enjoy life now.
  4. Over 6 months and 10,000 km in my FGT ute, put in a CAI, only gets 241 kw at the rw compare to stock 230 kwrw. got two slow punctures at two wheels, those 18" tyres aren't too good for the building sites. Driver side window switches isn't working from time to time, otherwise everything running smoothly. Average fuel consumption is about 13 litre/100 km which give a range around 600 km per tank. It is much better than my previous Mazda 4.0 v6 4wd Freestyle ute. The FGTute is a much nicer car to drive, I too am thinking about those F6 ute stripes....
  5. Hi Utemad, is your tonneau cover already cut out for the ladder racks? If so, I may be interested to have a spare set. Let me check the ebay later. Cheers
  6. Same with my FG ute, can't fill the tank with full throtle, but it has no problem with full up clipping off. Quite agree that the ute should have reversing sensors if not camera, it is very tricky to reverse into a tight spot. As to the auto up/down windows and locking fuel cap, I can live without them.
  7. It does look darker than the body panels, but mine "ego" colour doesn't show the difference. There shouldn't be any excuses as the colour should be the same all over. (unless the dealer scratched the bumper then respray it afterward)
  8. Went to Clarke's Rubber and bought 2 meter length of rubber mat $47.40 It is 1.2 meter wide, slight wider than the wheel arch. it was easily cut with scisors round the arch and length down to 1.8 meter.

I haven't experienced an emergency stop yet, but in my FG handbook it says "shakes & schudders" are normal when DSC and ABS are working.

Got mine last week, xr6t, auto, sport pack, safety pack, smoker pack and ladder racks.
  11. Thanks for the information. Going through some of the documents came with my new ute, my local Ford dealer actually gives 6 years warranty/175,000 km on all new Ford vehicles sold by them. I am not too worry about the build quality as long as they fix any problem under warranty. Also, all new ute owners, please check tyre pressure on your new ute, mine were inflated at 40 which supposed to be 30 but I adjusted to 33. (normal loading)
  12. Not offended, after a while, I found the new tray is much better looking than the previous model, may looks a bit funny in the photos but much better when looking at the real thing. Put it this way, it is one of the few obvious difference between FG and previous model.
  13. Since September Ford replace the traction control with DSC, I believe the diff is still LSD, is it right? Guess anyone who bought a new car would expect the diff to last much longer, just wonder why it should fail on those new cars?
  14. The ladder racks was dealer fitted accesory. Cost around $1,000. they also cut out the tonneau around the 3" tube. I tried not to rev over 4000 rpm for the first 1500 km, but did it couple of times, no sudden push forward, just smooth acceleration, didn't hear any strange noise from the engine. The acceleration certainly much quicker once the rev are over 3000 rpm, but no turbo lag.
