  1. Im New to this Turbo arena. But I do query this BA "Valve Spring" business. Who came up with the Idea that the BA valve springs are off? Was it discovered when Nispro revved a XR6T to 7000 and was making 1000hp? Well of course ANY valve spring would have trouble with that. Looking throught the "drag ET" thread, I notice a lot of guys are saying that the XR6T gets better performance (even modded), when letting the car shift itself, and not use the stick, and other chaps are saying that revving more than 5500 is a waste of time and can actually slow you down (some truth to that). Now...at revs around 5500, unless you have REALLY REALLY Bad valve springs, your not putting too much strain on the hole business. Its usually easy to feel when valve bounce occurs, as the car lays down and you get a lot of popping and banging. I have no problem with my 03 BA, though admittingly Ive bought it S/H and have NO idea of its history. All I know is it goes well, seems stock std and Im happy with it. What I find interesting, is when you research road test for these Trubos. The F6 is suppose to be 270kw (vs 240 XR), has the second cai, 9psi blow, lpg rods, minor edit and that's about it. Yet, Most of the times the F6 runs are anywhere tween 14.70s to 14.20s (road tests this is) When the first XR6T was tested against the SS in Motor in 2003, she ran a 14.14....Qwicker than most F6 tests, AND that was with the slow 5 speed manual, which was critizised in the test as having a bad/Slow shift. So, knowing as we do, If they tested an auto, it would have run in the 13s...stock (the SS run 13.98) Dont believe everything some Dyno Jockie tells you. Take it with a pinch of salt. Too easy to fudge dyno #'s.
  2. Well I had a real blast....Thanks to everyone who turned up, I hope you all enjoyed it. It was good to catch up with some of the "Characters" too. Too bad no young techno whizez had their videos or super duper camera telephones, or we could put some nice pics up. All up, I think 15 6Ts turned up, which is a good showing. It was an impressive sight to see them lined up at the side of the road or at a car park, I reckon they were all different colors too, with no 2 alike. Great fun thru the tunnel (Freeway) too, the noise was XXXRRRadically SSSSixsational. No Dramas all night. Im certainly VERY impressed with the potential of our OZ Ford XR T's....who needs V8's. Cant wait to do it again ...and soon. OK, someone else going to put their hand up now, to organise a cruise??? Cameras and videos next time, OK. See if we can get 20+ starters too. Cant wait.
  3. So, any Ba+ GTs or XR8s coming??
  4. Ok then, Its central, and we said we wouldnt but I guess Bunnings Mile End is the go. Meet in the car park near the London Road side @ 7.00pm, chinwag then cruise. If its RAINING ITS OFF, I hate cruisin in the rain. Could do a trip up to Crafers via Eagle on the Hill Road (Carefully!!), then back down thru the tunnels?. Could do Port, Causeway, West Lakes, the Blvd, then up to Tapleys, Brighton, Lonsdale Hwy, back road to Old Noarlunga, Main South, then The Expessway to town, south, Anzac?. Maybe pick a HJs or Maccas as a 1/2 way gather point, might find some other XRs around the place? Or just a Central coast cruise, South, Port, Outer Harbour, thru to Glenelg, Anzac 1/2 way whatever.
  5. Im under pressure now. . Start Somewhere central...but not to conspicuous or Inconspicuous. Nice wide roads, but not to draw too much attention (the wrong attention that is). Tapleys has been in the press lately as a "Drag Strip" near Seaton. But we are all carefull law abiding drivers. Im still thinking of a cruise out to the Expressway start, then back to the city (can legally do 100kph, dual lane). Any ideas?
  6. OK, Whos up for another cruise on Sat 29th Nov ?? Gather somewhere central, have a route worked out , with a 1/2 way stop, some nice roads etc....anyone got some ideas?. Do some networking with other BA/BF etc XR T @ V8 owners (ifn ya want to invited the V8 owners...Just going by that utube someone linked of the XR cruise in Wollongong). Spotted another young? P plater with a Yellow 6T with "Attorny" custom plates. If we settle on a gathering place and time, could make up a simple flyer for non Forum people to put under their wiper... as in "meet here for chin wag etc" Would anyone be interested to go along on another cruise, so close to the last?? Or is ti too close to Xmas with partiess, weddings, barmitzfas etc.
  7. Good to hear it was fun. After spending all day washing/polishing/changing the oil/filter/vacuuming the glovebox, I thought Id have a qwik power nap after a shower.....woke up at 8.30pm wondering where the hell I was. Too late for the run. Went for a cruise on the Hwy (Anzac of course), saw a couple of XRs but no group of yus, so went home at 10.00ish. Was there any Charity cruise on with Old Schoolers? No one was out when I was around. Nothing reported on the SMASA site or Hot Rod sites. When cruisin I like to drive in a bunch and check out other peoples cars and SOUNDS going along. Driving thru the hills in the dark on single lane roads is not my thing. How about organising the next cruise on some good main roads (dual lane preferably), maybe up the freeway thru the tunnels and back, maybe out to noarlunga on sth rd then back along the expressway, cruise along Port rd down to outer harbour, Semaphore, tapleys, finish along Anzac with a 1/2 way stop somewhere. (Mot all on the same night mind you...I like to Benchrace too) I use to organise "Old School cruises" in the bad ol days and we gave out route maps showing the cruise layout...everyone knew where you were going...Zipples does that too. (though he gets 200 cars+ each run). I can cruise me American Muscle or Luxo cruiser anytime. But I like the Bloody Awesome/ Bloody Fantastic and F&*%in Good XR/GT/FPV Fords (Dont care at all about Xtra Yucks and Xtra Wobblys) and wouldnt mind cruisin occasionally. Dont know if Bunnings is a good Idea to meet at any more, especially after they found a dead body in a car there yesterday. So whos ready for another cruise soon, but more central and with a map and route planned out?? Last night was perfect for the Turbos, crisp cool dense air. Soon it will be too damn hot to be enjoyable. I see a few ricers etc gather at Kmart Anzac still. How do you get the BA-BF-FG XR8 and GT guys to come along to? Last night when cruisin along Burbridge road I spotted a black BA GT at a servo with some old bald bastard (Just like me ) filling up. I waited and followed him along Tapleys, But I think I spooked him, he turned into Harbourtown...oh well...nice one too, FPVGTP gold and black plates (I think so anyway, had GTP as the last digits) And my stock 6T was running real sweet last night too, loved the new Mobil one. I was ichin to have a squirt. (that's old school talk for having an impromtu acceleration exhibition with an opposing competitor, up to but not exceeding, the legal speed limit of course). So whos in for a City cruise soon??????
  8. Or maybe the Southern and Central Boyz, like myself, can meet at Bunnings at 7.00pmish, and all drive out to woop woop as a group???? If they want to attend the cruise. OR If the Ingle Farm cruise is going South and maybe we can meet at the 1/2 Way stop or somewhere along the route? There was some mention of a Charity cruise, So is this Turbo Ford cruise gonna be with a bunch of Commos, Ricers, Toranas with drop tanks etc???. To be honest I'll probably give it a miss if it is....Been there done all that. (I just want to hang out with other 6T owners and stroke it, and may be learn someit at the same time...selfish me). Does anyone know the stops/route?
  9. Oh Poop. Why the change in location?, I thought Bunnings would be nice and central for everyone. I'll be out of gas b4 I even get to Ingle Farm. Dont forget the jolly oppers get VERY suspicious of gatherings at Shopping Centres these days. They have been know to evoke the Hoon Laws, the Terrorist Laws, the Loitering Laws and issue defects all at the same time.....Particularly in the Norf. I seem to recall Zipples had some Stymen problems at certain shopping centres with move along or else, directions given. At least at Bunnings we can all say we are disscussing hardware purchases for the next day.

A Newbie Hello from me. Coincidentally, another Mark from Adelaide. Narooma Blue 03 BA-T auto dead stock, other than an F6 snorkel and K&N, bought her S/h recently. Been perusing for a while and have picked up many tips (see F6 snorkle and K&N + bov sol clean, new fuel filter), thankyou for this forum and information, everybody. Love these cars (though Im a Mopar fan, dont hold that agin me) and look Forward to meeting many SA guys at the Cruise on the 15.11. (you goin Gramps?)
  11. Can a Newbie come along too? Be prepared for lots of stupid questions. I Should wear a nametag so you can all "spot the new guy". So that is meet @ 7.00 pm or cruise @ 7.00 pm (meet @ 6.30pm)?
  12. Personally, I dont mind F&F 2 and 3. Who could forget Fabio and Fonzie in #2 with their American Muscle, against the Crackerjack toys. BTW, I guess not too many of you guys read Hot Rod/Car Craft. Just after Tokyo Drift was released, HT/CC did an article on the "Real" cars. They built about 5, 1967 Mustangs for the Movie!! Only One was Nissan Powered. For the Fast action they used a Stroker Windsor V8 powered Stang, the actual car used in the "Down Hill Drift Race" WAS the V8 Windsor Powered Stang. Naturally the sound effects are dubbed in at editing (as in all movies). They also built about 5 or 6 identical scummy looking Chevelles for various scenes (and destructions). The original Smashed 70 Charger from FF1 was bought at auction by a collector. Of course other 70 Chargers were built, all looking pretty and dandy, for promotional work etc.
  13. Newbies first comment on forum. Hey SavageF6, Motormate on South Road sell the full range of Nulon Syn Diff/Trany oils. Will be trying the Diff oil myself soon, as well.
