  2. Love your work Grant!!!!!!!!
  3. Congratulations man! I've been visiting this site regularly since I bought my phantom T in January 2003. Best car I've ever owned. Every time I've had an issue it's been addressed by the Dealer, and like many other visitors to this forum, (and to my great shame!), I usually only posted when I was frustrated by an issue which seemed insurmountable at the time. Enjoy your car, and enjoy the forum. It's well-populated, well-informed, and well-managed. Cheers, Ivan.
  4. Spot on. XR is a generic Ford brand nomenclature which is applied globally to performance marques periodically. EXperimental Racing was indeed it's origin.
  5. Dear xarh6turbo, You penultimately requested information on "everything all the piping from the air intake to the intercooler to the turbo I want something that shows the whole system". Understandably, you became a little irate with the the tenor of the replies to your initial requests. But we are only human. You just need to appreciate the humour from the guys here (many of whom, through trial and error and lots of their own hard-earned dollars, are T gurus in every sense of the term). But if you don't appreciate it, then you really need to look at the catalyst for the replies you got. Tighten up your grammar, my friend, so we know what you're talking about in the first place. cheers....
  6. Re: Does anyone know whether the DJR spoiler can be purchased? I contacted the guys who make the DJR aero bits a couple of months ago. They are happy to sell the bumper add-ons and skirts, but they say that the wing is made exclusively for DJR. So they're unwilling/unable to sell it.
  7. ......you can almost feel their pain, can't you!
  8. Thanks for that info re: the price on Steve's (Redcliffe Dyno) bonnet, Goose. I've also just learned that the cost of the shaker (like on the red GT) is........wait for it......... $1,500 plus $400 installation. Nice additions, but at a hell of a cost. Especially for we Sydneysiders who already spend fortunes on tolled roads, tunnels and bridges and stuff.
  9. Absolutely agree. The pelicans who drive in the fast lane deserve to have the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits. But, and this is not intended disrespectfully, many times the people who are hogging that lane are actually overtaking. It's just that the speed limits are so draconianly enforced, that many people begin an overtaking manoeuvre, only to find that a serious increase in speed is needed to move into a position to move back into the lane. So they stay put, sometimes on Cruise Control, and inch ahead gradually. It's been said that if you stay in the fast lane on a German autobahn, you'll be wiped out by a faster vehicle. That may well be true, and people consequently overtake, then move the hell out of the lane quickly to avoid being rammed. Well, the difference here is that there is no risk of being wiped out, because the limits are so low. So there's a) no motivation to move left quickly (I.e. no risk of a fast car wiping you off the map), and b) the fear of enforcement if you give your car a squirt and move back asap. Just my humble opinion.
  10. ......not that there's anything wrong with that......
  11. NA, Thanks for posting the link. As sickening to the gut that it is (looking at the horrors and pain endured by those poor souls) - even the word "Sarcophagus" sounds like something from a Satanic verse - sometimes it's good to be reminded of just how good life is for us here in this country at the moment... Cheers mate.
  12. My driveline shunt/lash is driving me crazy, and if I wasn't so financially committed to this car, I'd have pi55ed it off months ago. A couple of comments, Ford: 1) take a leaf out of the engineering books of some of your competitors; 2) stop treating us punters with contempt - most of us are loyal to the brand and accept these faults, but there are potential customers who'd think nothing of spending their money elsewhere after a Dealership or Service experience similar to some of those described in these pages. The BA is a great product, but some of the mechanical attention to detail is just not good enough for a $60K vehicle (XR6T with all the bells and whistles in my case).
  13. Funny, isn't it? The same dealerships keep popping up when it comes to negative experiences. There are some good ones though. I have bought my last seven cars (six falcons and a fairlane) from Cumberland Ford at Blacktown because of their Service team. Sure, I've had problems - the fairlane was taken back for the same problem about half a dozen times. But eventually the issue was resolved because the DP was happy to intervene. I am happy to concede that this might be a one-off, but I think that if you treat the service people with respect, then you're a couple of steps in front of the ignoramuses who front up expecting to be treated like royalty. That said, it doesn't excuse the likes of Sinclair Ford. Looking for an LTD over the phone for my father, I was asked to go out there on a Saturday earlier this year (from Baulkham Hills). We arrived and kicked the tyres on an XR8, and a salesman came up and asked if he could help. My dad replied that he was after something "a little bigger". The sales guy treated us like street dwellers and essentially said, "good luck buddy - come back when you're serious". The outcome? Thanks to Sinclair Ford, my father drives a Caprice.
  14. great idea Glenn.

    Boot Lid

    :o Sorry troops. Let's try again. 1. NLF434A14A6 (leather strap around $13.56); 2. V 800537 S36C (bolt around $1.45); 3. V 820183 S36D (retaining clamp around $1.45). Hopefully that'll do the trick. Looks really classy with the felt boot-lid insulation thingy. :hiwelcome:

    Boot Lid

swanee and ms700, Yes! Yes! There is a Dog!!! (as you can see, I'm a dyslexic atheist). Sorry guys, I didn't notice that one of the part numbers was duplicated. I just copied the numbers from each of the 3 little bags I got the parts given to me in. As for the price, I have no idea. I don't work for Ford. However I've bought my last seven cars from the same dealership, so I know the service/parts guys well and they look after me somewhat. Whatever the part numbers and prices, just check out the leather boot thingy as it appears on the BA Fairlane and ask for that (if you want one that is). It was checking out a Fairlane that gave me the idea in the first place. Humble apologies for any confusion!

    Boot Lid

Sorry guys - no pics. I don't have a digital camera. Not only that, but I'm so computer-incompetent that I don't even know how to personalise my avatar! working on it but.....

    Boot Lid

I have fitted the leather boot-pull-down strap which is stock on the BA Fairlane/LTD range. It screws into one of the holes in the bootlid and looks great when used with the felt bootlid liner. To do this mod you will need to order the following parts: 1. V 820183 S36D (leather strap $13.56 dealer price); 2. V 800537 S36C (bolt $1.45 dealer price); 3. V 820183 S36D (retainining clamp $1.45 dealer price). The clamp sits hidden behind the metal of the bootlid and the bolt just screws into it, holding your new pull-down strap in situ. It's actually a fiddly little bugger, that clamp, so be aware that you'll need a little patience. But the result is very practical and very neat.... No more finger marks!!! Cheers, Ivan.

    Hypnodoc's Gt

Sorry to hear about your experience, doc. Unbelievable how frustratingly draconian the enforcement of the Motor Traffic Act is becoming these days. Makes you wonder... If you don't mind me asking, what is a reflector cover? Is it the same as a perspex Altrex one? cheers. :banghead:
  20. Good work mate. Well done.
  21. Looks fantastic geea. All Class. The bulge suits the XR series (6, T and and IMO it in no way infers that people who get them wish they had an XR8 deep down. re: "Anyone looked into carbon fibre FPV/XR8 replica bonnets?", Sydney Special Vehicles at North Ryde have a fibreglass bonnet for around $1000 fitted. Otherwise Ford sell the real McCoy for $1450 (trade price) - painting's extra.
  22. Your blinkers click? Lucky you - mine only clicks intermittently. They used to be OK, but after my steering wheel creak was fixed, they now have periods of silence. Spooky! (annoying too, along with my flaking intercooler...)
  23. Thanks Chris. Yes, that is the grille. Represents good value for money, I think.
  24. Fair enough...I consider myself chastised! You know, it's funny, but I feel I know a lot of you guys already. I've been lurking in the background for a couple of months now, partly due to the fact that I don't have the technical knowledge that you all do . Note that I don't even have an avatar etc... I don't have a camera or scanning gear, so can't do pics at this stage. But I'd describe the grille as being almost identical to the top one. But it's metal (powder-coated the same colour), and the gaps in the mesh are marginally smaller than the factory product. The top grille diamonds are 9cm long and 2cm tall, whilst the bottom one's are 5cm long and 2cm tall. It has a nice factory-feel surround - just like the top one. Oh, and can I welcome myself to team phantom at this stage???!!!
