Try turning the springs around a bit. I had this problem as well, but you can see the lower control arm sits on an angle while the top of the spring sits flat. This means the end of the coil needs to be either towards the diff or towards the wheel. You can raise / lower the car by a small amount by turning the springs. The springs were probably just shoved in and left in what ever position they popped in at, I did it at first and my mates car which was already lowered was the same, and had the same problem. I think I turned my springs so that the end of the coil was towards the diff, pretty sure that lowered it as much as possible. One spring end will face the front of the car and one will face the back. Hope that helps, it's kinda hard to explain...

Did you find out what the problem was?

Yeah you can definitely feel the clunks as the wheel goes around, its hard to describe but its so obvious... I could sorta imagine it being a roller bearing with a small metal shaving going around getting squished between the bearing and its outer casing... I thought that when I turned the wheel by hand that I'd feel it get stuck as it was going around, but when I went to try it, it turns freely... The noise is loud enough to be heard bouncing back off buildings as you drive through the middle of Newcastle (high, close buildings) Just sounds like the wheel would be getting stuck as it goes around... I'll pull the rubber boot off the CV joints and see if there is anything obvious, I'm pretty sure it will be either a bearing or CV.

You can feel it going "clunk clunk clunk" when you sit in the back. It only happens after someone sits in the back, then it wont stop for the rest of the night even if the person gets out. Tonight, no one sat in the back left and the car was fine all night, didn't hear the noise once.

Hey guys, just had a bit of a look through the forum and couldn't find the info I was looking for... I just bought a stock BF MkII XR6-t with 120,000km's on it. The car was driving fine for probably 100km's, until I picked up a 2nd passenger (who sat in the back left seat) then when turning corners or accelerating hard, the rear left started to make a few clunks, sounds in time with the wheel going around... After the passenger got out, the car kept making the same noise for the rest of the night. The car will also do it with a passenger sitting in the rear left going in a strait line. - Which I think eliminates the diff as a possible cause? Also the extra weight changing the angle of the CV joint could be making it noisy..? I took the car for a drive the next day and I didn't hear the noise at all. But then the next day after it was runnign fine, 1 passenger got in and it was doing it for the rest of the night again... What I'm wondering is if I would have a stuffed CV on a stock 6 turbo? the car was an ex government car from Tamworth, so lots of highway k's I'm thinking, full service history, tyres show no signs of abuse... I don't think the car was flogged and it looks like its had an easy life soo far.. I jacked the car up on one side, got someone to sit in it with their foot on the brake, put the car into drive and slowly let go of the brakes... the car didn't move which I thought was maybe gonna happen (the reason the brake was let off slowly), so I went and listened to the wheel... its a bit rattly sounding as it turns, the other side is quiet. There is no play in the wheel at all so I'm thinking it might not be a wheel bearing? So anyway, what do people think? when CV's brake can they become noisy or do they just let go and stop all power getting to the wheel?

Sweet, I have no problems with wiring in the line level out puts so I'll probably save some money and just buy a few meters of wire + some RCA sockets. I keep hearing that the line out put converters let through engine noise, but I had an idea today.. I can't see any way of engine noise going through except maybe its caused when the line out put converters are installed too far away from the head deck? and if you installed them with less wire (short as possible, 20cm or so from the head unit to the converters) and maybe even some coax if they need to be put further away they might sound better with less / no interference? Unless the head unit itself lets engine noise through? The adjustable bass / trebble should help with the flat sound.. if that's not good enough then some separate tweeters or some 2 or 3 way 5 x 7 replacements should probably do the trick. I'll have a look through the menu tomorrow, I didn't even realize it had one lol. I'm thinking of getting a jaycar amp, either a 4 x 50watts RMS or a 4 x 100watts RMS.. not sure yet, cos we might end up leaving the speakers so 4 x 50watts RMS might do the trick but I'm not sure if they'll keep up with a 12" fusion power plant subwoofer rated at 500watts RMS... I'm thinking they wont? What are the standard speakers like, are they 2 ways or not?

Hey guys, my mate just bought a BA XT falcon.. it came with the low series stereo system. The sound is very flat, no bass or trebble.. The back left speaker is not working, replaced the speaker with another working speaker temporarily to test it and no sound came from that either... so maybe the stereo is shagged? is it common for these units to break? Went into Newcastle Pro Sound today and they said it would be best to install a new head unit, and the factory speakers don't sound too bad but upgrade the 5 x 7's if you wanted a more crisp sound. They also said the speakers don't sound that great only because the factory head unit gives them 10 - 20 watts... and also that these low level stereo's are cheap and usually break. Now what I am wondering is, should I install a new head unit in my mates car or install the RCA out puts or install the RCA outputs and the higher level stereo system? The sound is very flat and doesn't sound nice at all, so I'm wondering if a 4 channel amp + some new front speakers might help get some quality + top end? and a subwoofer maybe for some bottom end? Does the factory unit have bass / treble controls? If not, does the high end unit have these controls? Does the high end unit play MP3's or DVD's? So I'm just wondering what other people with the low series units have done to get better sound quality..

Thanks for all the advice guys Didn't mean to bump this topic back up, but I had to say thanks

Thanks heaps for all the advice everyone, I really appreciate it I'm thinking of being an electrician now... But I don't really know what area's there are? There are house electricians, auto electricians... high voltage... and probably a lot more than what I know of... So I'm just wondering if people can give me an idea what area I should try and get into... and how I should do it... look for an apprenticeship? go to TAFE? go to UNI? If there are any electricians on the forum who want to tell me what they think about it? Man-Pants, that also sounds good... Is there somewhere where I can find out more about it? 86gav, where did you work? and what type of electrical apprenticeship were you doing? Thanks again everyone who has replied

Thanks for the replies, its helping me make up my mind a bit haha ZAP, I'm just wondering what courses you did to run this IT company? if any? How much do you need to know about IT? What type of work exactly is it? Since I know a bit computer, I'll probably have a bit of an idea what you are talking about if you want to get a little technical I'm thinking either electrician or something with computers now... Computer are clean, that's one thing I like about it them... I love cars and all, but I really don't really want to be getting my hands dirty every day... dirt under my nails and stuff... "dirty mechanic hands" I don't care if that sounds gay either haha + the pay just isn't really high enough for the amount of work they usually do.

Hey everyone, I haven't posted here much but that is because I don't have much to say... since I don't even own a B-series yet At this point in my life, I have no idea what I want to be when I go out to get work... I don't know weather to go to UNI and do a course or look for an apprenticeship or something else... So I decided to start this thread, to get an idea of what job's you all have... how much you get paid... and what you did to get there... I am finishing my 2nd year at TAFE doing an automotive-light course... but I don't really think I'm going to be paid anything decent doing that. I usually get above 80% in all my tests I've done in the course, and I usually beat everyone else in my class by at least 10%... usually 30%... but I still don't think I'll get a decent job and getting paid well enough... Is there any area of mechanics that gets paid well? Maybe company's like nizpro you might get extra... but what are the chances of that happening? lol My dad has taught me a lot, I build computers, I've built custom computers and sold maybe 10 in the last year or 2 (without advertising... just friends of friends get told I do computers.) I'm also thinking of being an electrician... since my dad has shown me a lot about electrics I don't think it will be too hard... and electricians seem to get paid alright... But I haven't done any courses yet... I'm wondering weather or not to go to UNI and maybe do a course or if I should try and get an apprenticeship... Sooo... just fill in this if you like; What job have you got? How much do you get paid? What did you do to get there? And if anyone has any suggestions on what they think I should get into for some decent money, feel free to suggest. Cheers, Jake EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm 16 turning 17 this year... and I'll be finishing year 12 this year. And also, I can't get a UAI to get into UNI but I can do something at UNI called newstep which goes for 1 year and will get me a UAI.

I'd go for the 360, better price, better controllers (IMO), and ive seen them playing the same games on the same HD tv's side by side and I really cant tell the difference... games were WWE and also Need For Speed Cabon running on both the consoles at the same time... Someone mentioned the hard drive's breaking earlier, the hard drive's are as reliable as computer/laptop hard drive's because they are laptop hard drive's... which are pretty relaible unless you drop them. Make sure if you get a 360 to get the hard drive with it though, they are hard to find unless you want to pay $200 for a 120gb hard drive then its alright.
