  1. I think trav should put a big bulbar on his ute. It would look very stylish with one of those puppies. I would then follow suit and beat him by getting a bigger bulbar and one of those plastic stone guards on my bonnet.
  2. I have lived in cq all my life and I dont have one. And I reckon 20s and flash paint can look really good. Anything can do doughnuts in the gravel ffs my old kingswood (front and rear bench seat) was a weapon on the dirt and and it wouldnt pull a maggot of a pork chop.
  3. Working out mines at the moment and see a few cowboy utes. You know the ones 2wd falcon/commodore/kingswood a bullbar that looks like it came off a bloody Mack truck big caterpillar mud flaps and spotlights that would turn a pig into bacon a 50 paces. Always overtake me on the way to work at about 150. My question is does anyone actually think these things look good. I mean I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I'm sure people out there think the cars I have built are sh*t but most people seem to have liked what I build. Does anyone actually like these things, what is the appeal. If I wanted a big bulbar I'd buy a v8 land cruiser if I wanted big spotlights and mud flaps for whatever reason they have em I'd buy a jacked up hilux and go roo shooting. Somebody please enlighten me.
  4. Guy I used to work with had a big trust sticker across the back window of his vs ute. It was stock.
  5. Il pay that that was good ha ha.
  6. Well we should get something first cause we get bugger all else. Dont know what it is like in other states but unless you are from the "great south east" we get shafted. Roads are a disgrace and hospital is sh*t bout time we got something good first.
  7. So apparently I am goin to Melbourne for my honeymoon. Need to know some good restaurants and things to see and do. Was also thinkin of the great ocean road if someone will hire me something cool to drive it in. wedding is on may 7 and prov have a week and a half 2 weeks for honeymoon. Also nice places to stay. Bed and breakfasts or hyatt o long as it's nice just don't want to stay in any dives.
  8. Anyone want to buy a ute....
  9. Bad luck mate. Time for some go fast bits ay?
  10. We had a guy who was a cleaner at the workshop I used to work at. This guy did maybe ten hrs a week and was quite a few cans short. Back in the day when xr6 turbos had just come out and I could only dream of owning one. He reckoned he had one. Well we kept eggin him on and he told us it was in the car park and it did mad skids so a few of us go for a look but no car. Apparently his misus had it that day, maybe.. Same tool also reckoned he had properties in Brisbane and Sydney.
  11. More Dave stories please.
  12. TonyD I Can see why you are pissed of with what happened I would be too. Just for the record I don't have a 60k loan for a car and if it was crushed it would not bankrupt me it would just piss me off, a lot. I think more focus should be on fatigue driving and more money should be spent on fixing our roads and increased driver training. Driving 6 hrs to get home from work after a 12 hr shift on dodgy roads is way more dangerous than someone doing a skid in an industrial estate out the back of town in my opinion. Yet for one you can loose you car and the other you are unlikey to get caught before you crash.
  13. I disagree with having cars crushed even taken off you. The punishment has to fit the crime. I don't think I should loose 60k+ of car for being a hoon if a cop says I am. (whether I was being a hoon or not)
  14. We were having a few beers last week and the tosser found out we are having free booze at my wedding in a few months. Wasnt he excited...Won't he get a shock when he does not get an invite. Gives me sh*t about driving a ford and I mean really gives it to me and you know what he drives......... A navara haha haha.
  15. Am I alone in thinking no matter where you work there will be someone that pisses you off. It seems no matter where I work there is always one person that rubs me the wrong way. I am sure there are people out there that hated working with me but I try to be nice to everyone try not to give smartass answers to stupid questions and generally not be a tosser. It always seems to be one person that annoys me but the boss usually loves them cause they are so far up his ass only bootlaces are hanging out.
  16. Best of luck with the clean up mate. Plenty of donations comin out of Gladstone to flooded people don't know about xr6 turbo parts though.
  17. Seek.com.au was just on there and if you can't get 120k+ as a heavy diesel fitter you are very very special
  18. Mines = $$$$$$ if you play your cards right. I'm a line borer so I'm not based at any particular site so I don't have a roster. Most of the boys I work with gros 170k+ but compared to an operator we work our asses off. If I was not getting married this year and buying houses I would be spending silly amounts of money on cars, booze and bikes but I see enough people making bulk $$$ and wasting it to know not to. It gets hard sometimes bein away from home but I know that in a few years I should be set and I will be able to get a job in town doin bugger all working 4 on 4 off like some of my mates do. Sometimes it seems hard making the change to do this kind of work but if you keep doing the same things you will get the same results. Good luck with it and stay away from the hookers and booze
  19. From what he was saying he is hopeing for 550+ rwhp. More impressive than the parts and goals to me is the fact that this thing is home built. The only things that were ever out sourced on this car was the top coat of the paint and the head porting on the old cast iron head.
  20. Boost and revs will not be anything extreme. He has built more than a few of these and block will be grout filled.
  21. What I would give for half that guys driving ability
  22. thought some of you may be intersted in this. before I had my ute my brother and I built a 2 door lc torana with an aspirated 202. it ran a best of 12.79 @ 105 with a 4 speed and 9 inch with full inerior and street driven. I gave my share of the car to my brother and came to play xr6s and he kept playing with Expensive Daewoo sixes. he has now started a build with a j-zed aluminium head (flows enough for 400hp) a t51r turbo (.91 exhaust) 50mm wastegate and most likely run on e85. should run into the 9s with a bit of development. I know it is not a ford but I think you have to appreaciate what is trying to be acheived here. no workshop is involved in this all engines gearboxes diffs and exhaust manifolds are being build in my brother shed at home by him and a mate. http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=144517.0
  23. I can understand the wanting to do most of your build yourself, I did. Whilst it was good to learn and say I built most of my car myself if I had my time again I would by something like that fg, only for the saving of money and not having my car on the road for nearly a year. What I learned while building my ute was invaluable and being able to tell people I pulled the engine out, I put it back in I ran fuel lines fitted surge tanks etc Is pretty cool. Also be aware that what you want to build is goin to be very very very very very very very fast. Extremely easy to loose bulk points on your license. Out of curiosity what parts have you bought for this thing so far and who is building your engine/doing your tuning.
  24. How is everyone with the floods. Gladstone was lucky but I think rocky bundy and emerald are not so lucky.
