Mate, I've had mine since last October. I have been waffling on about my turbo being noisy too. You could hear mine under light load (low whistle), and under full boost but moderate revs it makes an obvious noise like a sort of background scream. If you floor it, the turbo is pretty quiet. This is what was found after comparing mine with a new G6T - ie basically nothing - the bearing tolerance is the same as a new one, the bit of oil in the bottom of the compressor housing is the same as the new one, the noises my turbo makes are basically the same as the new one except the G6 is said to have more sound deadening. If the compressor wheel blades have reasonable clearance from the housing they say that all is well. My compressor fan spins smoothly by hand. Having said all that, I reckon the turbo is noisier than when the car was new. But since everything, including all joints and the intercooler, checks out to be tight and leak-free, I'm happy with that. My dealer, who bends over backwards to keep customers happy, says that the sure way to know that something is wrong with the turbo is to listen to it after driving it and then shutting down the motor. If you can barely hear it, or not at all, then usually it's ok. Fresh oil, often, is the secret to petrol turbo long life, but you'd already know that. All my previous turbo experience is with Landcruiser diesels, Merc trucks, Cat and Hino gensets, and Cat loaders. None of them sound like my FG ie all were relatively quiet, especially the Japanese ones. Sorry about the book, but that's my story.
