  1. What are your mods, boost levels and power output? Have you raced before and if so what was the setup / results? Thanks, Alex
  2. Scotty, You need to relax maite ... dont shoot then ask questions later. But if it makes you feel better than go ahead ... I have driven BA/BF XR6Ts, XR8s, GTs, F6 many times (including each one at the drags - calder and private drag strip). I have driven all variations too .... T5, T56, A4 and A6. Brilliant cars ... top value. In particular the T engine and A6 gearbox are fantastic. I can provide the slips if you like but from the top of my head ... - BA XR6T Manual (T5) * 2 different cars - best of 13.9@100 (issues with slipping clutch ... 2nd to 3rd bit slow ... hit and miss afair) - BA XR6T (A4) * 2 different cars - best of 13.6@102 (top value ... good gearing for drag racing / mods and turbo engine) - BA XR8 (M6) - best of 13.8@101 ... low down torque issues ... heat soak problems - BA GT (M6) - best of 13.6@105 ... great sound - BA F6 (M6 - obviously) - best of 13.5@106 ... gearing is too short and boost drop between gears ... very fast - BF F6 (A6) - best of 13.0@108 ... fantastic acceleration for the dollar Now for the modified ones; - BA XR6T (A4) Capa flasher (9psi) ... 13.0@109 - BA XR6T (A4) Nizpro and HPF tunes, valve springs, cold air (12psi-10psi) ... 12.7@112 ... stock rubber I have also driven and been in many others (including other modified ones) ... Why would I want you guys to go away ... I have been on this forum since 2003 and I enjoy it very much ... Take it easy, Alex
  3. Which cars have you had / modified? Do you modify your cars primarily for drag racing or circuit etc? What emphasis did you put on acceleration times when you bought the car? The Typhoon is definately a very good candidate for moderate power increases with very little outlay ... very good out of the box too ... Alex
  4. That was a real question ... I wasnt saying you shouldnt base it at all on acceleration figures ... come on maite ... I might not be sleeping but you were asleep when you posted the response ... It is a serious question ... for example ... I would factor 20% of my purchase on straight line acceleration. What about you? Alex No ... not at all ... as I said earlier if you are going to have a stuff around drag then go for your life ... What I was saying was dont be upset if you loose. Just like you shouldnt be upset if you loose to a Torana because it cost less to purchase and modify but is much faster than your XR ... If you do infact put that much weight on straight line acceleration and you are going to be upset about loosing to a modfied F6 then the SL65 is probably the wrong purchase value wise - not very smart. I am sure your family friend would be much smarter than that ... If these rich guys got there with brains and purchased a SL65 ... they dont give a stuff about a modified F6 or GTS. If you were in the SL65 and lost to a modified F6 or GTS would you feel bad? Or in simpler terms would you feel bad if you lost to a Torana with your XR? Alex that's the way! ... noone felt bad or got up on their high horse and it was all in good fun. Alex
  5. I think you guys misunderstand my post. Typhoons are much more than cars that go quickly in a straight line and that is what you pay for. Otherwise you should have bought something else (which would have been much cheaper and faster). In my opinion, it seems that straight line acceleration plays a huge part (for some) in a performance car purchase. I agree that this forms some part and is very important but not a major factor which it seems to be. The reason why I say this is because when you are spending big dollars on the high end Euros and Aussie muscle all that money (or a big portion of it) is for the things you cant do with a VL or a Torana etc. Therefore, look at your Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris etc these cars are not made for drag racing at all. This is mostly a byproduct of other things. For you to go and race a F6 with a Lambo (or whatever) and take it seriously or feel bad etc (or expect an owner to feel bad) ... you have missed the point and wasted your money. You cant be too smart if you do that. But perhaps some buy these cars for things they weren’t primarily designed for ... (I am sure that some people would buy those cars just for the look). Its your cash so do what you like with it ... just don’t get upset when you lose to a VL ... and the blokes beating these cars don’t expect owners to be a upset otherwise you should feel the same about your XR6T or F6 when you loose to something much cheaper ... But for the fun drag and stuff around ... go for your life (with whatever)... I never said anything about that ... What percentage of your purchase is based on quarter mile / acceleration stats (be honest)? So, I hope that cleared that up ... Alex
  6. If you guys want to get good value from car modifications (and car) that primarily go quickly in a straight line the F6 or XR6T was the wrong purchase ... In the same way, 911TT and Lamborghini Gallardo drivers should not be upset about loosing to a F6 or XR6T (nor should they have seriously tried to race one for that matter). Next time it will be a much quicker Torana or a VL next to them ... (and that goes for the F6 and XR6Ts bragging about the value of their purchase/mods as compared to a stock GTS) ... If you drag race F6s or XR6Ts (or any cars in this bracket) with your 911TT or Lamborghini Gallardo (or any cars in this bracket) you have lost your marbles or you have more money than brains. Alex
  7. Hmmmm ... drag times seems to suggest that a 12.3@116 is possible with a stock M5. But then 280rwkw in an XR6T Auto should give you a 12.5@114 or so ... The manual does put a bit of a spanner in the works. Alex
  8. Just buy something already!!! Or there should be a special forum called 'tur - XR6 Turbo and Typhoon best prices for today' ... then you can post in there all day long ... seriously ... by next week I wouldnt be surprised if you have cut them down another $10k. At this rate you will single-handedly close down all dealerships and Ford. I recon everyone is going to dealerships quoting 'tur daily pricing'. I can just imagine it ... 'but tur says I can get this new F6 for $25,000' Just kidding, keep up the good work .. eh discounts coming, Alex
  9. I must say Neo looks very nice (along with Deijavu) from the relatively new batch ... Alex
  10. Ok so that should have a "." ... 8.5 tenths or 85 milli seconds ... dahm sharp if you ask me ... Yeah it did ... but if you read the article properly ... you will realise there are some seriously dodgy things going on there ... I think it has been discussed before ... but I will give you a few to wet your appetite. For example, - Why is the GTS in the hillclimb when only the top ten made it (it came 18th; clearly out). - Also, the article mentions that 2 Aussie cars made it. The article goes on to describe them in random order and includes the Typhoon and GTS first up. No other Aussie cars made it ... technically (based on the scores) the Typhoon was the only Aussie there. - The Lotus also didn’t make it but was in the discussion and pictures. - The WRX made the top 10 but was not there. - The M5 and M6 made it but got no mention or pictures. - How can a GTS be less of a performance car than a SS (particularly considering the track performance it displayed with its 'crappy' auto)? And so on ... there are about 20 issues in there ... Perhaps the Ford cheque cleared before the Expensive Daewoo one ... For some reason, Motor has gotten very dodgy in the last 2 years or so. I think everyone’s best bet is to cut the Ford v. Expensive Daewoo crap and buy what is best for them (by evaluating it themselves). Both the Typhoon and GTS are great cars. Alex
  11. The MRC stuff is pretty good ... I mean in Motor PCOTY a HSV GTS with a crappy auto! lapped 85tenths off a M5 (which weighs 89kg less and has 66kw more). Not bad! ... I think it works. Alex
  12. Geez ... you got your mag early! The R-Spec stuff sounds pretty good ... I am sure they took a few tips from the forum ... Is there anything else interesting in there? Thanks. Alex
  13. Oh well then it's terrific value for money; those centre caps and nuts are big dollars. ← LOL You never know ... it could be like the 12th man memorabilia ... "$200 unframed and $800 fully framed ... so they are pretty good frames" ... or "$200 per wheel whithout centre caps and nuts and $690 with". Alex
  14. I think you will find there is some dodgy business going on with that review. Take a look at what Wheels said about the GTS MRC performance mode (same as Senator) the month before and in their VE special. From memory, it was something like, "the performance mode is more than terrific for everyday road use" and that it is "uncanny how it smooths out the bumps" (in a GTS with 20s!) Also it is wheels that said that VE rides better than any current BMW. Quite interesting that it all turned around all of the sudden to say the Senator did not ride / handle well and was overly harsh. As stated earlier, maybe it was a dodgy unit ... Alex
