Fuse is good, I swapped it with the starter one, and the car still starts ! Looks like it's off to the Dealer ! What did yours do when the Compressor was stuffed Ducatijb ?

Hey JB, Sorry to have asked a question that seems to have stopped the discussion ! But it is something I believe we need to have an understanding of (Before any T's destroy engines due to sensors being asked to work outside their designed operating range !) Can anyone answer the questions I posted above about the Edit working in Wideband with a Narrowband O2 sensor ? Street Tuner ? Anyone ? Pretzel

I can't remember hearing this happening on the Ford, but I expect that the IC pipes should be pretty well clamped. IC pipe coming off is more likely where aftermarket kits have been fitted. If a clamp is not tight enough, a hose is most likely to separate when you give it a bootfull and you'll lose all power and probably cut out. It hasn't happenend on my Ford, but on my other cars where this has happened, and quite a few times, the car can be restarted, will act very sick, idles very roughly, massively overfuelling and giving out black smoke, as the air flow sensor is being bypassed. Someone may have tested this on their Ford. Brian <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BCL, I have had the pipes off on my car, and because Ford doesn't actually have an Air Flow Sensor, (it works of Manifold Pressure) there is no issue with overfuelling etc.. It is basicaly then a low compression N/A ! Idle is fine, just don't expect performance ! Ask Geea, with his boostless run at Calder ! Hope this helps Pretzel

Street Tuner, Sorry nothing against you personally, I just see that people seem to be very quick to jump on some people when they quote/claim things (Like the claims of my car !) But in this case a valid question was seemingly ignored (Or missed) and there seemed only one person wanting answers ! I did notice you haven't been commenting on my car/claims (In fact you didn't want to get involved in it when asked), so I apologise for jumping on you on this one ! I may have typed before thinking... That happens some times, Bloody fingers ! No hard feelings ? I kind of get what you're saying, but admit to not understanding the insides of an auto, but in the past when I have had auto's modified, I believe the increased line pressure(to force the next gear quicker), in conjuction with higher shift points has always turned a non-chirping box into a quick shifting chirper (In the same vehicle !) ! This is behind big V8's in the past though. What is different there(Old boxes) to these boxes(New computer controlled) ? Thanks Pretzel

Eugene, Very good question, I also think the answer given was complete Crap..... Is it just me or do other people see that certain questions get ignored ? Where's the answer Street Tuner Please explain to us people that obviously don't know what happens, how a car in theory decelerating then re-applying power (At least shutting throttle, and re-opening causing boost to drop etc..) will Chirp whilst one that has full power applied immediately to the next gear will not ! Thanks, I was going to check fuses in the morning, there is no click (From the compressor starting) or thermo fans etc.. In the engine bay one of the fuses is labelled AC, but it looked ok (I didn't remove it to test though yet !) I'm hoping it is just s fuse, as I don't want to hve to arrange a dealer to look at it ! Thanks Pretzel

Have a problem with the aircon, thought I'd see if anyone else had a fix ? Aircon working fine today, but tonight I started the car, with the aircon on, it seemed to start cooling, and I had to turn the car off again (Forgot something) then when I re-started it the aircon does not work ! The indicator in the screen says it is on when I press the button, so I know the switch is working. I need to check the Fuse under the bonnet, but it was dark and it looked ok from what I saw ! Anyone else have this happen in the past ? Or any suggestions ? Thanks guys Pretzel

Street tuner, Firstly I am not a tuner, but I think I know a reasonable amount about tuning/engine requirements etc.. I am having trouble understanding how these Edit's do what they claim, and the reliability of them long term ! I understand the tunes are conservative, yet closer to optimum than factory, which makes sense, as factory tunes have to be Ultra-Conservative ! Can you explain to me how the system is capable of tuning for correct AFR's across the entire range ? The reason for this question is that FORD put in a Narrow band O2 sensor, which they use for the improved economy tune at cruise only!(As you know this is a very lean range) Now you are telling us that this system allows you to use that Narrow Band O2 sensor to measure, and tune/adjust accordingly as if it was a Wide Band O2 sensor ? How can you use a sensor in the vehicle that is designed to read figures in a small range, to reliably tune a car far outside the range the sensor is designed for ? Yes it may give figures outside of it's 'optimum' range, but how reliable/accurate will it be ? Ok, you will obviously have some protection by still utilising the factory knock sensor, but you're putting a lot of faith in that sensor functioning properly ! What if it does detect knock, a car you've given a customer a tune of let's say 250rwkw will then drop to (at a guess maybe what 200 ? How much will the knock sensor retard the timing or whatever it does ?) Not having a go here, just wanting to understand it a bit more ! Thanks Pretzel

Sorry, what does it say ?

Hey at least we don't cop abuse this way ! And we can agree on things !
-
Scotty, Pretty much the first line was to you, and the rest was to the baggers ! I figured as much though about the track, what with all the diferent things I imagine people put on tyres to soften them up etc.. Let alone the amount of rubber left on the track I guess ! Pretzel
-
Hey Dutchie, Thanks, Good to see there are people out there willing to give other options their chance as well ! Pretzel
-
And more importantly what was the torque curve like ? Or did they not show it ?
-
Hey, that's not enough info...... What sort of figure was it putting out ?
-
Sorry Macka, Forgot to answer this one earlier ! 4th gear over the line from memory ! I definately never had to use 5th gear. I can't even tell you what revs it was doing at the end either ! Didn't bother to look ! Pretzel
-
The lack of wheelspin off the line was the biggest thing I noticed first up, at the launch revs used, I would have gone nowhere on the road due to wheelspin, but the track had no wheelspin, and jut bogged down ! Pretzel
-
JB, No problem, we'll arrange a time to road test ! We'll also run them side by side at Calder and/or Dyno etc.. I promise I won't dial in too much more between now and then ! I'm like you though, I am only in it for the fun (Although perhaps my fun will be a bit more private in future though !) Pretzel

Scotty, Regarding what I have quoted or kept hidden, I'll confess to you right here and now the hidden bits in the configuration..... They are: (Hmmm let me think........) I don't think I've stated I use Mobil Synergy yet have I ?.... Yep that's about it. I have never claimed something power wise etc. that I have not seen myself, I have also not hidden anything, In fact the car has been looked at by a few people, and when I do get it to APS, they will be checking injectors etc.. Do you really think I'd go so far trying to prove what I have done only to lie about it (Which will only be found out in the end anyhow and make me look stoopid!) Anyone is welcome to inspect the vehicle to satisfy themselves about what has or hasn't beed done........ Or they can ask..... But they don't seem to want to believe the answer anyway ! At Calder if people wanted to look under the bonnet it was opened...I have nothing to hide ! So as for the getting upset, it's not so much getting upset about people not being able to compute(I posted information to try to help people in the first place), it's more the fact that they won't accept the FACTS.... if I had modified injectors for example, I'd tell you ! It's the accusations of lying, or trying to deceive you that I object to ! The Miss-quoting etc.. I can only offer the truth, if people are too blind to accept it then it's their problem ! Pretzel

13.01 @ 115 mph. with 302 rwkw. Jeff 13.2 @111 mph with 300 rwkw. Pretzel It's funny how no one disputes Jeff's time and rwkw but when it comes to Pretzel and Dynowog everyone thinks there is something shifty going on. That's what has me confused. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dont see anyone having a shot at Jeff's mates car because it has a roughly $10K APS Phase 3 system & that's about the 1st time I've seen him mention the manual going down the 1/4. Scotty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Scotty, great point, thanks for bringing it up (I didn't want to because then I would just get abused for saying it !) ..... Perhaps from what you're saying I should have not given a sh*t about times, run a 15 second pass to artificially increase the MPH (However that works... I'm with you Macka on that one !) Then I would have had a higher MPH, and you would have complained about a slow ET ! Pretzel <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope that little hissy fit wasn't aimed at me Pretzel as I've never bagged your car once. I'm simply stating the Jeff's mates car has all the go fast bits & then some & is expected to run quick times. However you haven't altered your car nearly as much or fully disclsed the truth behind your upgrades & how your figures were obtained with so many stock components, then you get upset when people can't compute, for my $$$$$$$ I hope you are quoting genuine figures, all the more rosey for us all in the long run Scotty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Scotty, No definately not aimed at you , I just used your point as my first bit as it was something I was thinking, I probably didn't distinguish enough between thanking you for that point, and then my ranting ! Sorry to have confused ya !

Geea, I think from memory they were Black (Now you can't have a problem with that colour) Dark to hide any stains if it all went horribly wrong ! Pretzel

Scotty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Scotty, great point, thanks for bringing it up (I didn't want to because then I would just get abused for saying it !) To be honest, I don't give a sh!t what is thought of me/my car/my choice in tuner.... It seems I was asked to run it down the quarter (Something I had never planned on doing in the first place) These mods were for my own benefit/enjoyment after all..... Upon seeing the results I thought that the forum community as a whole would have like to see the results (How fkuken stupid was I to try to help people out there make an informed decision, and possibly save them money if they chose to go down the same path !) But against what I had planned I run the car at Calder to please who ? Not myself..... Not trying for 100% lightning speeds and world records because this is my daily driver, and I've already had to replace the clutch which I hadn't planned on doing so early ! I don't see the figure I ran as much different to Jeff's quoted one (Ok a few MPH and little time) But hey I never said I was a Drag racer in the first place ! It was also my first couple of runs..... Perhaps from what you're saying I should have not given a sh*t about times, run a 15 second pass to artificially increase the MPH (However that works... I'm with you Macka on that one !) Then I would have had a higher MPH, and you would have complained about a slow ET ! I tried to inform people of the option available, but Fkuck me, people are happy to go along in their sheltered little world, believeing all the crap they have been told by their mates buddy (Or whereverthey have been told it) I am not having a go at any other tuning options, as I have chosen this path, and give credit to others that have proven results.... Hmmm strange that people don't seem willing to do this in return ! Like the fact I claimed a higher figure, initially, but had that reduced when the new clutch went in (at my request), Oh but sorry..... It makes it look more unbelievable to keep quoting the higher figure..... Or should I say it makes you look more stupid showing you can't read ? But I don't seem to get the same courtesy regarding what I quote, there is always some reason for mine to be wrong, yet others could say they ran a XX second pass, with their left testicle stuck up their arse, and the right one jammed under the accelerator, and people would say well done ! What the fkuck am I expected to do to please you lot ? I realise there are some gnuinely interested people on the forums, but it appears to me there is more people afraid to admit there is a great option available that does not follow the normal route, and IS PERFORMING as expected..... I'm sure when it does run on another independant dyno (Say APS's) and it does the quoted figures, there willl be some other reason for it to be disputed.... Maybe the colour of my jocks wrong on the day ? Sorry for the rant, but as someone that has chosen a different route to most modified cars, I seem to have put myself into the Leppers corner...... Maybe I should buy an LS1.... they would probably at least accept it (Or be open to the possibility) if someone tried something different and it worked ! Pretzel

I think this gives us a good indication of the differences between Manual and Auto ! Same driver (I assume) and 60rwkw difference to get basically the same ET, with a 7 MPH difference (In favour of the Manual) Just goes to show how much is lost with the throttle closure during gearchanges etc.. Auto's are far superior in the T's for Quarter mile IMHO ! Geea would be correct with say a Throttle controlled by the foot directly, where you know what it is doing all the time I think, then a manual should be better ! Any drag racers able to help here ? Pretzel

Jason, Yeah the site I used may be dodgy for it's figures, it was the first one I came across doing a search, so I used it ! Yes, we say that we tuned it for 300rwkw, but the figures at the track are not going to be completely car related...... What I'm saying is that was my only 2 runs down the quarter...... How many people do well without having run say 10 passes ? I know the car had more in it, but I was trying to be nice as we had destroyed a clutch with it at a slightly higher figure, and don't know exactly where the problems(Slipping) start ! As for what we have out of the stock injectors, if it is 300 as quoted, or 280 as Geea suggests it might be, it is still 40 down on where we had clutch problems (Becaue I asked Dynowog to bring it down to a figure I would opefully be able to run safely) So we are not running a high figure, that will come in time with Gearbox/Clutch ! Does that help ? Pretzel

Hey Macka, Thanks Buddy ! Once I sort it out a bit more it'll be run again, maybe we'll make sure you're there too. We know Geea will be there, and JB wants to run beside me (Being another modified manual) So we can make a night of it ! Does feel good to have finally proven it though..... It is rewarding to have done it with nothing but Intercooler, and ECU. Even more so after all the Sh!t that was spouted about it not being possible !! I think Bakedbeans should at least be chased up over his offer to pay the site's fees for a year ! I'd hope he is traceable anyhow ! Hope you and your tribe also have a great Christmas, and an even merrier New Year ! Pretzel
