1:10's is a great time for Wakefield Brian, especially his first track day. Hopefully will see some members turn up on Monday! Take the day off and come on down guys..
-
there is an another open day at Wakefield this coming monday the 24th Just a heads up for anyone wanting a "no speed limit" blast
-
I did Eastern Creek yesterday, and as already mentioned it is very different vs Wakefield. Much quicker but more flowing - and somewhat less taxing on the car. Cost was $250 for the day, which included a (rather ordinary) lunch. It took me quite a few sessions to get some confidence, Here is a little video I took yesterday to give you idea of the track http://www.photothingo.com/users/1001/ec_0...2/ec_060322.wmv (30mb) You can see I over-cooked it in the end, doh. Video is a bit deceptive in terms of speed, I was hitting 200km/h on the straight, but some of the gruntier cars well over that. Btw the open day comes with instructors who give you some pre-session tuition, and in-car instruction also. Personally I think Wakefield is a bit more fun, rspecially for newbies. EC is a technical circuit and much quicker, but definitely worth doing.

Its about $50 pp per night for the cabins, I think they sleep up to 6 each. I am told the insulation in the cabins is rather lacking and it gets VERY cold in winter.

It's the most dodgy video mount available, but one of the best. And it works in the Fords too. Basically, just squish your camcorder in the headrest! Btw guys, you can order photo's of the day. There was a guy taking photo's all day, every car (I think he is there every open day perhaps). Btw2, Jeff that thing of yours is a monster, love the sound too.

Was good to meet you guys out there at Wakefield yesterday (I was in the car form the dark side, the red monaro). Was just going through video of the day and noticed I somehow managed a flat 1:13, here is a vid: http://www.photothingo.com/users/1001/0603...ield_060317.wmv (17mb) I might have some video of some of you, if anyone is interested.

V8owners.com Invite All Fordxr6t Members To Wsid

Onya Max, we need some XR6T members along for the day. Trust me it's great, basically as many runs as you, and your car, can handle. It is a private event, thus you can leave you gear in the pits without worry of it being nicked too. Any drag racing newbies, there will be a pre-race session to show you how it all works, lights staging, burnout etc. and, no crowds! perfect for newbies. -

Why is that? Everyone is welcome, and we get a great variety of cars. And a fair mix of turbos. -

At least a dozen people on this board have been before (to a v8owners organised event). They are great days, especially for drag racing newbies. -
We would again like to extend an invitation to XR6T owners, as in the past. Detail here: http://forums.v8owners.com.au/showthread.php?t=2039 Hope to see some of you there again

If it's an open day, I dont think you can book a spot (with the track anyway) you just turn up.
-
the dates available in March thus far are 1st, 6th, 10th, 8th, 13th, 17th and 22nd (I was at Wakefield the other day and got a list) Apparently the 1st and 22nd are to be avoided as they surround another event and there will be a lot of people there (testing I guess). Can non-XR6T owners attend? (some V8 Fodder for your T's!)
-
there are still a few places available
-
the list has been updated we have about 35 cars, room for a few more.. dont forget WSID will not be operating next wednesday the 26th (Australia Day). And as you know Animal (aka Ken) has arranged for the Lions club to serve up morning tea (egg & bacon roll / coffee, ect) and lunch!! (steak/sausage sandwiches & cold drinks). We will need to get final crew and spectator numbers from each of you early next week. There is still time to get in for the 30th, so PM me if interested!!
-
cmon guys we need some more Fords for the 30th!!
-
no but I know a place you can get reasonable quality open face (new) for about $70 (pm me)
-
several spots remaining if anyone is interested
-
our last day was $4000 + GST I think, so $4400.

I tried to post this in the cruise/event section but I dont have permission. Guys, WSID are close to offering private track days again. Here is an option that will be available: WSID tech and race day Morning session consists of technical seminar at the WSID corporate facilities, a given workshop runs through their performance products and services, explaining some of the technical aspects of their packages and components etc. Morning tea, perhaps a disscussion on drag racing, Q/A session after which we have a light lunch. Afternoon session consists of drag racing for a few hours. It will cost similar to a private track day, perhaps a bit more due to lunch etc Here's the best bit: the workshop will offer a discount (voucher) equal to the cost of the day, redeemable against a tuning package or significant puchase. So potentially it's a 'free' day for participants looking to mod their car.. The tuner gets to showcase his stuff and generate business, participants enjoy the seminar and a few hours of private track use. The idea is to encourage leading workshops to have a go. Another spin is to use several sessions throughout the day, simply attend those session(s) of interest and race your car at other times. This is harder to organise but could have wider appeal. What do you think? The reason I am exploring these options is because with only 30 cars, I dont believe we make full use of the track for a whole day, perhaps something like this is a way to make it more complete. This would be an XR6T only event (there would be other days for ls1 etc). Please post your thoughts and ideas, I already have some interest from WSID and a certain tuner. Regards, Duncan

for some reason I dont have permission to post in the cruise section, and the relevant event thread was locked. anyway guys here is a spreadsheet with all your runs, you can sort and rank or whatever. I've been in touch with WSID about another day, and they are still finalising their new private hire framework, afterwhich we can have another day. Hopefully the spectator thing will be sorted, and we can arrange faster scrutineering etc. Perhaps a mod can move this to the 19th Sep WSID day thread.

I am not religious whatsoever but there is a flipside to the war argument; if religion is an opiate for the masses and provides parameters for decent living (as some have argued) how many wars has it prevented? Just maybe we might have killed ourselves off long ago... btw I doubt it but think you see the paradox

God worship when out with the Ark (lol)

I am working on getting the data from WSID
-
Well guys thanks for coming along, met some great people. The weather was constantly threatening and got us in the end, but most of us got in 10 to 20 runs. The WSID people are well impressed with our manners and have more or less said we're welcome back..which is significant given issues in recent weeks. If we have another day I would like to explore processing paperwork upfront and perhaps a day/night event. thanks again, I hope you'll come along to the next one.

I've just called the track, they say weather looks ok out there. See you there.
