  1. I have a July 2008 FG XR6t with lux pack and tech pack I must say that the car is impressive in many regards, ride comfort, acceleration, comfort I have had rear diff bushes changed twice, and there are noises coming from the front and rear ends that Ford have been unable to rectify. Furthermore, the dealers have tried to take advantage of the situation by charging me extra to 'retension'the suspension to try to solve the problem. All in all, I think its very difficult trying to get the level of performance and refinement demanded by us from a $50,000 vehicle. In saying that, a large proportion of blame when it comes to customer perception of Ford reliabilty and quality comes down to the dealers. It seems that many dealers leave a sour taste in peoples mouths with their arrogance and blatant unashamed profiteering. BTW, I owned an MY05 sti (for 5 years), and 2 other wrxs. I drove em like I stole them and never had one issue. Unlike the XR6t, the STI is engineered to get flogged and ask for more.
  2. So it must be true then.....
  3. I have just purchased a 6 month old FG XR6t with ZF box. I get a slight knocking noise from the rear when applying power from standing start. Dosnt happen always. Is this the dreaded driveline lash? I thought they had all but eradicated this vermin in the ZF equiped cars
  4. Is it possible to retro fit Factory bluetooth/IPOD and reverse cameras to an FG XR6t with Luxry pack? Does anybody have an idea of cost?

    Fg Xr6 Turbo

I have heard that the brakes on the FG XR6 Turbo are a little underdone Has anybody experienced this? Are there any brake upgrades out there that work in with the stability control and systems?

    Fg Turbo

Ive gone for the XR6 turbo, picking it up on Wednesday. Reasons for the decision were basically I was looking for the sportier drive (current car being an MY05 STI).
  8. Best price so far New made to order vehicle ZF, premium sound, technology pack, metallic paint $48,000 DA I cant get anywhere near some of the quotes on here. Somebody help me
  9. The 30% allowance is over and above your normal depreciation and is a one off deduction

    Fg Turbo

Apart from aethetics, what is the difference between the fg xr6turbo and g6et. I guess what Im getting at is does the xr6t have a much sportier feel to drive? I have driven the g6et but havnt been able to locate a xr6t. I was very impressed with the grunt, but thought it was a little soft for my liking, and am wondering whether the xr6t is a little sharper. BTW the saleperson said the xr6t and g6et were identical under the skin, which according to the ford website is not true.
  11. Sounds good Any options?
  12. What price are people paying for FG Xr6 turbo? Are there discounts on rrp?
  13. MS700, whats the word inside Ford about this issue?
  14. Guys, these are times very close to a merc E55 (which does 4.81 an 12.94), which has 350kw and 700nm of torque, although its about 100kg heavier than the falc. If the times are accurate, then there is no way the 270 kw and 550nm figures are correct.
  15. RATT, WRX's have 3 diffs and 8 cv joints, as opposed to 1 diff and 4 cv joints in the falcon, and mate I can assure you that driveline clunks in subarus are very limited, especially compared to the XR6t. My xr6t clunked every time I slowed down and Fords very own employees kept telling me nothing is wrong. Considering the make up of the subaru driveline, you would expect it to be a big clunker, but its quite the opposite...... and I know cause I have owned 3 of them including my current car an MY05 STI. The XR6 turbo has the potential of being among the best 4 door performance cars in the world, however with the driveline shunt issue, I dont think this could be so. BMW, Mercedes, Subaru, Honda & Toyota engineers would find this problem appaling, especially since nothing is getting done about it. Simply put, Ford is putting PROFIT before PRIDE. And by the way, the dealerships are the Nexus between corporate Ford Australia and the public and as such are the ideal place to stage a demonstration. Blockade the dealerships, Ford starts loosing image and money......... then action will be taken.
  16. MY MY05 STI has 3 diffs & 8 cv joints, all with no backlash, shunt or whatever you want to call it. If ever there was a car that was going to have backlash, it would have to be an STI (or other 4wd) due to the increased number of driveline components. The jap engineers however would never let a vehicle into production with this sort of problem SO WHY THE HELL DOES AN AUSSIE CAR MANUFACTURER? There has to be some sort of protest. We should blockade the dealerships and call the media down to show everyone that we have been dudded. Even though I dont have my XR6t anymore I feel that strongly that I want to do something. FORD HAS TO PAY FOR THIS. I lost over $10,000 in depreciation in 6 months because of this issue.
  17. I have had 2 WRXs, and just took delivery of my MY05 STI. The clunking that you are refering to is actully a bang which occurs when you flat change or change extremely quickly from 1st to second. Its nothing like the XR6T clunking issue. Look forward to running a few of you guys at the lights.
  18. I have a remedy for the clunk issue, Subaru MY05 STI. Picking it up in 10 days............ Ford just lost a customer. I paid 50k for my car in november last year. I asked ford to buy the car back off me. They offered 33,500. Mind you they had one in the yard for 43000, and mine had leather, 18's over and above.
  19. The main point here is the problem is within the specifications of Ford, so to them, no problem exists. The fact that have a noisy and unrefined driveline does not mean that there is a problem. All it means is the cars are cheaply made, and are sub par. As consumers, it could be argued that we got what we paid for.... cheap performance with little refinement. My solution......... Im test driving an MY05 WRX STI on Wednesday. Ford has lost my business, and I can honestly say their attitude in this has totally put me off buying another one..... EVER!
  20. My right side cv joint let go the other day. Funny thing is the clunking in my driveline was a lot better after it got fixed. Lasted only two days though, and now its back to its normal clunking best. One thing that I noticed and thought id see if anybody else had the same problem was when I am stationary and put the clutch in and select a gear, there is a clunk as I select gear (with my foot still on the clutch). Beats the hell outa me!!!!!!! What ever happened to the letter that we were going to send to Ford. Has it been finalised yet?
  21. Guys, I just had a conversation with Ford about the issue. Obviously they are unwilling to admit there is a problem, stating that all is within normal tolerances, and that it is a characteristic of the vehicle. I asnswered that if it was a characteristic of the vehicle, why isnt it stated anywhere in the manual. She couldnt answer. Bottom line is they dont give a stuff. They have already sold the vehicle to us and we are stuck with $50,000 + new cars that sound like taxis. Unless we are willing to take legal action, I dont think they are going to budge. I reckon everyone with the problem throw in $100, and we should get legal advice.

    Diff?

Fellow XR6t owners with noisy diffs, I have had my diff replaced and the second diff is making the same noise after 1000km. There must be something we can do about this. Mine makes the 95km whine and the clunks. It is so bloody anoying and I am getting to the point where I dont like driving the car without the stereo blasting so I cant hear the noise. The problems is inherent in the diff and the problem for Ford wont be solved until they change the diff specified in the vehicles. Im sick and tired about this and the quality of the mechanical expertise from the dealerships. Ford sucks for not delivering a refined product and the dealerships cant diagnose and correct the problems. I had major probs with my diff replacement when the lower control arm of the vehicle was not correctly fitted because an apprentice probably worked on my vehicle. Ford should actively monitor the practices and impose standards that must be met for dealerships to be in operation. But like everything, it comes down to the dollar FORD wont get rid of the whine/clunk problem as it would inevitably cost them money, and DEALERS employ mostly apprentices to undertake important mechanical duties cause its cheaper. SHAME FORD SHAME.
  23. Ford replaced my diff recently. When I got the car back, it was changing lanes by itself. I took it back to ford, and after they put it on the hoist they claimed it needed a wheel alignment. The following day I almost killed myself on the M5, when the car was almost uncontrollable. I limped home and got it checked by a reputable suspension workshop. They claimed the car needed a wheel alignment, BUT REQUIRED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM TO BE BOLTED TIGHT also. I could not believe this. I have lost all respect for Ford Australia as they put my family's life at risk. PS: the diff still whines at 90 km
  24. Thanks for the response. I was told that the shift will improve as I get more kms on the clock. Does anyone know why 2nd to 3rd is so damn hard. You either got to be extremely heavy handed or pause in the neutral position to get it right. The same goes when shifting back from 5th to 3rd.
  25. Has anybody put either the Herrod or other short shift on their XR6t manual. The shift on the XR6t manual is a little notchy (in reality its absolutely stuffed but im trying to be as positive as possible) Any reviews would be nice. Edit: :banghead:
