Geez youngy, You must have one big shed mate! Nice one mate Chooka ← cheers mate. the shed's changed a bit since then I now have... 04 kawasaki zx10r 04 tgb thumpstar 85 honda atc185 and 06 KTM 525exc I sold the yz and rmz to get the new ktm and boy do I love the thing. it does admirably well on a motocross track yet I can ride it legally on the street and it will hold wheelstands for ages on the wrong side of 100km/hr. Might even take it down to wed nite drags for a laugh. ← Hey youngy, the 525 will be good for 12's down the qtr on dirt tyres! I am planning to be back on a bike by Nov so am starting to look for another 525EXC, preferably an 06. The 07's are due out next month so I am hoping to pick up another KTm bargain with someone trading up to an 07. ← Yeah mate cant go wrong with a 525 I've been riding with simon from extreme afew times and he's always eyeballin it like a crazed thief. give him 6months and he'll be ridin 1 too (not mine simon) As for the 12s on dirt tyres that's mighty impressive seeing the best time I've got on my zx10r is a 10.5@135mph ← I've had 520's and 525's, sold my 04 525 at the end of last year when I did my knee and am out for 12 months. When I have been at calder I have seen on 2 separate occasions 525's run down the qtr, must have been for a bit of fun. Not sure if they were stock or not, but they were running comfortably in the 12's. From emmory I think Geea was with me at the time, and I could not stop laughing. Aside form that I was amazed how quick they were. Here's a pic of my last beast.

If you buy it from herrod's you will pay for a name. You will be able to get the identicle product from elsewhere, eg Wog as an example much cheaper. cheers JB

Back's are easy, front's are a nightmare, hope you know what you are doing

JB. Youre forgetting were talking about Jules here and not a manual peddler. The 2 are mutually exclusive ← Too True, my bad.......

Scotty, not sure what your current status is with your T, but this is far from the first time this has happened to a member. We have had many discussions on these points, and previously I had a theory about modded auto's, however with it now happening to manuals as well, that theory does'nt hold as strong as first thought. There are a number of variations in tunes and in particular the auto's seem to kick out alot more with alot less persuation. If Daniel descibed that this is how it happened I fully believe this is how it occured. As I stated I'm not sure of your cars status, however having had a very agressive T myself as well as driving numerous others including Geea's the T's tend not to be overley forgiving for some reason once modded. There seems to be a point where the power combined with tyres and suspension just give way, and 100% of the time this has been at a higher speed (eg 100km/h - freeways ) and in the wet rather than belting off at the lights. The only way I describe this feeling is to experience it yourself. Cheers JB

Daniel, after spending time with yourself and your beautiful T mate all I can say is that I am very happy you are not seriously injured. Mate the T can be replaced, just thank god you were able to walk away from it. I wish yourself and your wife a speedy recovery, just glad your boys were'nt with you at the time. All the best JB.

By the term Validate, I think it's literaly where the member is met by a reputable member OR a mod(there is a difference ), face to face, it is identified who they actually are, where they work, live, shoe size, mother's maiden name, etc. Rob ← I will never reveal my true identity! I ain't taking this cape off for no-one!

Hey Jules, only just caught onto what happend. Glad to hear you are ok. Even happier to hear how AAMI have treated you. From memory you are manual are'nt you? There goes my Auto boost theory. Everyone previously who have had this situation occur have been auto's. If you remeber the discussions from past we thought it had alot to do with the way the auto and the boost came in. When driving mine out of a corner with a fair bit of pressure on the pedal the boost is always smooth, so the only thing that would catch me out was as I applied full throttle when she starighten up the tyres would let go and flick me sideways, then game over. All I can say is you are exactly right you really have to be careful with these things as they will at somepoint catch you out, and if we were all as good a drivers as we think we are, we would be full time race car drivers. Mate hope she comes back as good as new, and hopefully be able to catch up on the next trip to Vic. Cheers JB

Wish I had a $ for every time this topic has hit the forum.............

Mal woods are always a good option. I ran a extreme clutch with a modified centre on my T5 with 305rwkw, and gave it hell. I did alot of development on it for Race Brakes, hence I was challenged to try to break it. The reason for the modded centre was to ensure driveability in city traffic, we ended up with a clutch that drove the same as stock (My wife regularly drove the car). In fact the dealer never picked up on the fact it was running a 600hp clutch. The most damage I did was not the clutch or box (T5 Gearbox is weak anyway) but sheared off the spline on my axel. There are plenty of threads relating to clutch options on the forum.

I would go the Aprilla overthe honda any day of the week, not just for power but also handling. The only issue is if you have not riden before a 2 stroke on the roads is asking for trouble. So many inexperinenced riders have accidents not due to outright speed but powerbands and the way the 2 stroke delivers it. Not the ideal package for city riding. Just make sure you get all the right gear, and don't buy cheap because you will get what you pay for. I miss riding on the road, however am constantly reminded why I don't anymore by the licence in a week bix package drivers out there. Still enjoy enduro racing though, just got to wait for the knee reco to heel. Yes bikes are fun, and dangerous, good to see we have a few more riders on the forum.

If you are in it for looks then people today think bigger is better. Personally I had 19's and that was just right with the correct suspension set up for me. From a performance perspective particularly if you are going for rwkw then bigger is worse. Not only from a ride perspective, handling etc but traction wise. I had half the grip on my 19's that I had on 17's hence why I never ran with 19's on as I would always get a better time with smaller diametre wheels and thicker profile tyres. For me stealth is the way to go but that's my opinion, why attract uneccessary attention unless you want to be "fully sik". Cheers JB

Yes Nesh the 968 are a direct replacement and fit straight in. All up the job should take you approx 30-60 mins

Hey Shaz, Yeah a few, however missed the first "Tar" nappy. Thank God ← you big woos its really not that much different to the melted rubber/tar after a burnout shazzy ← Ahh yes now I thought I had seen it somewhere before....unfortunately the smell was very different
-
Thanks Clarke, Nice to be missed (*rubs tear from eye*) It's a shame that people are'nt sharing core information, in the early days people would point you in the right direction with no bias, and ensure that the information and advise they gave you was the right way to go about modding your T, no cheap shortcuts or alterior motives etc. Hope this continues as there seems to be alot of new members around, it would be a shame though if people are modding their T's in the path of least resistance rather than using the research and work that has been done over the years since the inception of the car and this forum. Happy to stick around and empower what I have learnt by reserching and off other long time forum members.

I have been told with the new baby that my Caped crusader days may be over...... We'll see about that! New Mini Me cape on order!

You HAVE been busy.... Congrats JB. ← Yeah have finally worked out it's better than using your hand Dags....
-
Thanks Rob, btw the beast is looking very nice, are those different wheels again? ← Thanks mate. They are ROH Modena's, I had MAK Stings last time I was in Melbourne. Now the baby is born, you gunna to get back into a T? You know you want to mate. Rob ← I must admit Rob the only thing I miss is the power and performance. I have considered down the track getting into a Phoon but I just cannot get past the experience of dealing with ford. That and spending $50 odd K which could end up being a gamble, with build quality, problems etc. I cannot fault the cabbage cutter nor the experience with BMW service, the extra money is worth it for not having any issues and problems. Don't get me wrong, if someone could guarantee a faultless Phoon and an enjoyable experience with ford I would buy one tommorrow. We will see what happens as in a couple of years my wife may need a new car as she will loose her company car, so I may turn over the barvarian cabbage cutter and get two cars which would most likely put me in a next to new second hand Phoon. That or I would love an M3

Perfect for hunting out and disposing of prospective dropkick boyfriends Lumpy ← very true, by the good looks of her already (obviously after my wife) I could turn the shooting dropkick boys into a sport.....
