  1. Congrats to everyone involved in this event, particularly Elite, the organisers, participants, sponsors and winners. Sounds like you all won, as a good time was had by all. Brian
  2. I get the feeling we are moving to a new level of performance. We are now seeing more and more very large turbos making a presence, in conjunction with strong motors and corresponding strong autos; what is surprising they have good streetability. Congrats on what has been achieved with this car, and great to see it done with a FG. You guys in Qld seem to be now leading the way for mainstream "hot" street cars. Brian
  3. No problems. Sure do. Credit always goes to those who get the results. Now go and run that 10 second pass. Brian
  4. Fantastic result with that turbo. The difference between is graphs says it all, the way the power just keeps going up with the GTX is amazing. You should all be proud of these new results. Great team effort. Brian
  5. Well done Dario, being very first run in the new trim. Of the 10 second group on this forum 50% are below 10.8, and 50% above it, so 10.7 is well placed as a start. That track doesn't sound like it's improved at all in the past 2 years, and there's nothing more frustrating than getting wheelspin in more than 1 gear, especially when you have good tyres. You need more than 1 run to get a feel for the difference it makes changing tyre pressures. No doubt you'll go a lot quicker yet. Can you please post the full breakdown of the run from the timeslip thanks. Brian
  6. Fantastic effort, and congrats to all involved. What is the weight of the car? I'm sure we'd all like to see a video, if available. Brian
  7. I can't believe how consistent those runs are for a first up effort. Well done & congrats on achieving a 10. Brian
  8. What model & trans do you have?
  9. My goal has NEVER been to run a 10sec manual pass, as stated many times. I started a project in 2004 to have a 1000HP(600rwkw) Ford, because I had the means to do so, and to set another benchmark, at a time when very few people had 300rwkw. I'll be more than happy for you to reach your goals, and set new benchmarks. I'm quite attached to my 6-pot Alcons, thank you, and stopping from a big mph with taxi brakes is not something I have any desire to do. Brian
  10. You will win easily; I'll guess he'll do around 12.8 and you'll do around 11.7 I'll assume neither has much drag experience, but ET depends very much on ability to launch. Brian
  11. Spiro, that quite OK by me. I did that run a few years ago and it's good to now see others going further than my power levels, or mph at full weight. Stripping weight will make that task easier. Doubt you'll try a max speed run on street tyres; I wouldn't do it again... just a tad too dangerous. Julian, I didn't see you post at the time I post. Hub dyno is obviously the most consistent, but it's just another tuning tool. Brian
  12. It's a waste of time trying to compare different dynos around the country. The bigger the power the more the chance of a lot of power lost through wheel slip on rollers. And it's all too easy to manipulate power levels. Basically anything over 500 is a very strong result, but go to the track to validate the result. My black tar dyno of 138.6mph on street tyres (not MT's) will do me. Brian
  13. I had no problems with cruise control with the 4.11 diff after the 6-speed upgrade. Brian
  14. Oh so close to that 10. Congrats on the new record time, and to Paul for his driving. What tyres did you run with? Brian
  15. I had a chat to Jim at the Tunehouse workshop tonight. I suggested that we come up from Sydney, as this sounds like a good event. Maybe something to replace the BV (big Vic) events of years ago, if we could get enough guys together; something to think about for the future. I'm in Melbourne next week, but I said to Jim that when I get back we'd see what would need to be done to get xr6t8u ready, as it needs a few things done. Spiko asked me a week ago if I could make, and I doubted it because of work, but I haven't ruled it out. Even if I can't make it with the car, it sounds very worthwhile just to fly up for the day (or weekend) and join in to be a part of the event. I would be good to get others from some of the other states to come and be a part of the day, and meet other forum members. It's great to see more people getting behind this event. Thanks to the organisers and those donating prizes. Brian
  16. I thought that was with E85 not 98, based on the original write-up. Brian
  17. Spiro, that's a very strong result on shoot6f. Roland, I'm amazed your ZF, especially the input shaft, has withstood the torque being applied so far. well done. Brian
  18. 370rwkw… It was dreamt about in 2003, huge power in 2004 (I had 360rwkw that year), big power in 2005, very good power in 2007, average/good power in 2010. Don’t get me wrong but 370rwkw is fairly common these days, and plenty of aftermarket components are available to get that power and a lot more…. Still a very quick car compared with stock. Not much of a comparison comparing this with a 317 Clubby or R8, especially if stock. It’s not really a monster. This is just the initial reaction to any major power upgrade for anyone. I felt the same way when I bought a Calais turbo in ’88. It’s all relative. You very quickly learn you do not put your foot to the floor in 1st and 2nd. You are wasting your time and rubber. It comes down to what power you are used to, and with any power upgrade you have to adapt your reflexes quickly; and you should have at the equivalent of at least 4-pot Brembos if you want to stop. Things happen so much more quickly, and you can get yourself into trouble in the blink of an eye. You adapt to the power delivery and get used to it. I would not be doing acceleration tests with my kids in the car. That is irresponsible, as I have learnt from experience. The real place for acceleration testing is the drag strip, where you get the buzz associated with doing 120mph +. Until you get to know your car you should be extra careful when you have passengers, and of course you should always be careful when you have passengers. Be extra careful in roundabouts. It is not just about power; it’s also about smoothness of the power delivery, fuel economy and reliability. I’d advise to check for boost leaks in a month, as I’ve been caught out before. It’s also about producing a well balanced car. Do you also have brakes upgraded, suspension upgraded, and rubber with extra grip? Brian
  19. Don't get me wrong, you can still push up to 400 with a twin 2.5" and run a 10 sec pass as some guys have done. Even an xforce will suit 95% of people;'s needs. It's just like a turbo or anything else, where the law of diminishing returns applies. Assuming the mufflers are OK and flow well, you have to look at the quality of the pipe separation at the split point on the inside. In theory any bending of pipes and pipe separation causes non optimal gas flow. Sorry, I have not seen nor had any experience with the Redback system, only heard that it is supposed to be good quality. However, just because an exhaust looks shiny on the outside it does not mean that it is well constructed on the inside. Brian
  20. Just to clarify I made that statement when you had said Jim had taken it to 450rwkw. On that dyno I ran the 132mph pass with around 440rwkw on 100 shell fuel & cat intact, which would probably equate to around 410 shoot6f dd. (note that I find with passes I usually get around 2 mph variation) 435 on 98 fuel on that dyno is even a better result when take the fuel used into account, and I have a custom exhaust manifold that gives me more top end. Jim has done a lot of Process West Stage 3 kits lately ( I think far more than anything else), and getting very good results. I will also be changing some of my gear this year also to keep up with some of the newer gear available. Anyway, I think you'll enjoy what you pick up next week. Brian
  21. True. Most people have no idea just how much some of us have spent, but we do it because we can and because we enjoy it. Brian
  22. As a guide don't go over 370rwkw with a twin 2.5", as it becomes restrictive at the point a pipe separation, and more of a bottleneck as power goes over 400. I use THR exhaust which has 50% 4" front section and tapering to a 3.5" rear section for optimising gas flow and better torque, in conjunction with high flow mufflers. Brian

    Help Needed

Just put it off a week or 2, and get it tuned with a capa box. Any of our advertisers should be able to help. It's not worth doing anything silly that may cause a problem. After all, your car is stock and his is not.... "apparent stock XR8" lol.... most of our cars look stock! Even with a mild retune you should be quicker. Brian

    Capa Flash

Are you doing your own tuning? I read from your other thread that you had been been doing some data logging. Brian
  25. This was a key issue from late 2003 with the BA. Better to upgrade the Intercooler first , as it is the bigger power restricter. If you are after a cost effective solution do the Intercooler upgrade and get a free flowing cat, with appropriate tune. Brian
