  1. I would have 4 new wheels already if it was still under warranty but it's not. By 2 months exactly when defect was noticed and 50,000k's under. That's why I'm going for the implied warranty option. Although, I'm sure this breakage was a little while in the making. Second dealer was more helpfull and thorough yet no result. I'm checking the warranty of the wheel manufacturer. If that dosent help, I have to get my own tests done and wave the results in hand to ford. Shall see how it goes. Would be nice if someone from ford said wow! glad you noticed it when you did and lucky you didn't keep driving on it....
  2. Yep, my thoughts too. I will try another dealer.. If not, I have to get it tested elsewhere and go for the implied warranty option.
  3. Hey all, curious to see if anyone knows anything or has had something similar to this happen to them. Bout to jump in the car, look at the front left and nearly have a heart attack... Notice a thin crack from a distance through one of the 5 'spokes' on the series 1 18's, upon closer inspection the crack aint that thin and is all the way through the alloy, to the inside of the wheel. Wheel quickly came off and was given to the dealer. Dealer sent it to get independantly tested to ensure it was not caused by excess damage (my driving). Comes back, test says "we dont know". Ford says "We don't care" although, I was given a standard steelie as a temp spare. Have a look at the pic and tell me what you think.. That rim has done approx 50,000ks I'm sure I would have noticed a knock or pot-hole that would have caused this. The car was washed about 4 weeks prior and I would have noticed it then, yet there was no apparent evidence of a crack. Excuse the slight out of focusness!
  4. Wow - baffled by that car at the show having the message up all day.. *sigh* .. I would love to get to the bottom of this.. I guess I should be happy it hasn't happened again. Let me know if you come across any other info Cameron. Spin
  5. Hey all, sorry but been caught up with some stuff... great to hear the replies Ian - (Soon2BXR6T) It's the same flash you had the link to.. I havn't had it done yet but yeah, the idle on my car is all over the place .. well when it feels like.. I'll be reading the responses of those who have had it done before I do it.. I can handle the idle having pulputations, so long as I remember im driving a 6 cly lol and not my 1st 302W on a hot day. The service bloke told me about it when I asked about the ICC error.. YCC - Yeah, I can understand that after disconnecting the battery.. If I did discinnect the battery I wouldnt have been bothered.. prob is I did nothing but turn the car off.. and on. lol without slamming the doors and shaking up the insides. Cameron (Tupperware) - no progress whatsoever.. it hasn't done it since and I really dont expect it to do it again.. just want to know why it did.. I checked the amp but no problems there.. the sound hasn't played up again either. Im baffled. Ford (of course) were no help.. apparently they hadnt heard of it before and weren't obliging to look into it any further. When did it happen to you? whilst driving? did you notice a sound quality difference? Cheers Spin
  6. Yeah I remember reading about your cd's getting stuck while it was happening, hoping it wouldnt do that to me.. I think I might check out the amp to see if it had anything to do with it.. lol about the hole drilling
  7. Thought I would share this with you all to see if any one else has had a similar problem with their Interior Command Centre thingy (just another of my go-machines many problems). On my way back from watching Team America (a must see for some pant wetting laughs), I notice the CD I was playing stated sounding way off the normal quality of the prem. audio system. I'm not sure most people would pick it up as it was quite subtle and I have expirience in music and sound engineering . I would explain it as though there was too much gain comming from the amp therefore the end sound being slightly distorted and harder to listen to. Anywho. I stop my go-machine at the servo, start it up and hear a beep from the ICC. I look @ the screen which briefly displayed "SYSTEM ERROR" after which it reset itself (full reset), took its time to find the loaded CD's and resumed normal function with normal sound quality. Stepped into my now familiar service department, had a chat and they have never heard of the ICC thingys doing this before so he's apparently speaking to ford tomorrow about it. It also seems quite hard to contact the overseas manufacturers regarding this or should I say in general (can't recall their name). Anyone else had problems with the prem audio packs (technical only lol) or ICC's? ..hope so lol :( Also, in case it hasn't yet been mentioned, Ford have released a new patch for the resin boxes fixng rough idle issues, overboost fangdoodles and something else which escapes my memory. -> comming to a service department near you in the next few weeks. Apparently takes 3/4's hr. cheers

    New Rubber

Well.. my butt is sore after this one... Found a bubble in the FL sidewall caused by poor road maintenance ...pothole. I havn't even reached 20,000K's (just under) and my rear Dunlop SP9000's are shot. tread is down to the indicators. Front tyre wear down the center, other front has major wear on the sides... (was I wrong in assuming my new car would have a balanced set of rubber?) I didn't have too much time in looking for a replacement to the sp9000's and started looking for the best price I could get for them. 5 places quoted me on average $525 fitted and balanced. 245/40/Z18 X3 purchased for $415 each. After driving a Nissan Navara for a few years, I've been pretty happy with them lol.. well until I checked the tread... 50/50 hwy/cty driving, I do like to push her a bit but new rubber under 20,000k's? no way ... mr. tyre man says you should get around 40,000k out of them.
  9. mmm '53 buick skylar convertible *drools* but for $30k, it would be one hell of a rust bucket lol. a rust bucket, but my rust bucket ..one day
  10. Driving around the Greensborough area of VIC, I've seen one unmarked T in silver. Oh! and just remembered lol was at the drive through bottle shop and an old XF wagon pulls up with 4 'blokes' slamming down VB cans. Right behind them is a lovely looking lady cop in her leather jaket sitting in her Black VA XR8.. ouch... carefull people
  11. Had my baby for almost a year now. In Melbourne weather it's never gone past half way. It normally hangs between 1/4 and 1/2.
  12. This post seems to have stalled a bit to date. Fantastic idea and I hope its still comming along. If so, you can count me in for one too!
  13. I posted this problem somewhere else today but just in case some of you wont see it there.... I have had my vaccume hoses 'blow off' twice already. The stock clips are pretty pathetic, or maybe it's just mine. Worth looking into as it's cheap to fix better clips/attatchments to the hoses
  14. Hey people I've had similar overflow probs when starting my baby up but nothing a little idling wont take care of. I've had the vaccume hoses come off twice ... you may want to upgrade the clips! uhh.. the heat shield is rattling in idle at the moment lol only other probelms is when I forget to take of the traction control and floor it
