Hey Basher_tsv, Good to hear you've got your APS stage II kit fitted and the cars running nicely. Sounds like the utes heaps of fun to drive now :lol: I'd be interested to see what RWKW figure you've got on Bob Hawkins Dyno Dynamic's Dyno in Shoot 6 Mode for that's a much more accurate reading and the most commonly used. Please let me know how everything goes this W/end especially if (hopefully it won't) .... any stalling or idling issues arise for the majority of XR6T's like to stall once they've been kitted for some reason? Hope you have a great long W/end

Hi Peter, Have looked through your web site and was wondering if you have any Dyno Dynamic's Shoot 6 readings for your APS Stage II and Stage III kits on 95-96 Ron Premium unleaded fuel. Am very interested in your upgrade kits but am intrigued how much of a reduced result 95-96 Ron fuel will have on the dyno figures you've quoted apon your web site. I live in North Queensland and am unable to source 98 Ron fuel but would very much like to upgrade my car with preferably a Stage III kit. Who is the APS Agent in Cairns? Cheers

Hey Basher_tsv, Thanks for your reply ... yes its hard to make power in North Queensland on low grade premium unleaded but 202kw's seems unacceptably low considering APS quote 282kw's for stageII!!!!. Maybe you should go to Bob Hawkins and get a Dyno Dynamics Shoot 6 reading which is the industry standard and also the Dyno type APS themselves use and quote figures from. You should have 180rwkw on a Dyno Dynamic's Dyno reading in Shoot 6 Mode in standard form ... be interesting to see what Verns car develops on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno. I'd have thought 250rwkw would be a more realistic figure from StageII on Premium Unleaded fuel ... what does Peter say from APS. He should be able to inform you of the power it SHOULD produce on premium fuel. Let me know when you've got the kit fitted ... like to know what you think of it Cheers

Hi Basher_tsv, Yes should be good to see how well the APS Stage II kits goes on Premium unleaded. How much power did the Silhouette Phase II sedan that was beside you at the Wild on Wheels develop? Was it auto or manual? How longs that other guy had his APS Stage II kit on for now? :lol:

Hi Basher_tsv, be great to hear your opinion of the APS Stage II ... which workshop in Townsville is going to fit your kit for you? Will you be getting it dyno tuned after installation? Are you running it on 95-96Ron fuel as that's all that's readily availble here in Townsville unfortunately Look forward to reading your thread after you've got the fast bits fitted

Hey Peter, what are your recommendations for the best quality fuels in the premium 95-96 brands. Up here in Cairns North Queensland we can only get premium unleaded fuels for the closest Shell Optimax servo is at Rochampton 1000kms south then even further south again to Brisbane for Mobil Synergy 8000 at 1700km south Is Shell and Mobil the best quality in the 95-96 ron grades too? What RWKW would a Stage III APS XR6T achieve on Shell 96 ron Premium unleaded instead of Optimax? Thanks

Hey Gareth, Did C&V pull the fuel tank out to disconnect the return fuel line valve? What is this valves purpose if its not needed and just causes problems??? Does anyone know C&V's phone# ????

Hey Ducati JB, Do you know what your dealer did to resolve the low speed steering shudder? If you dont; can you please ask them for me. My dealers replaced the power steering pump and rack yet it still shudders!!!! I've done figure of 8's and my dealers had the car up on the hoist and turned the wheels from lock to lock 40 times to try and bleed air from the system and all the other VOO DOO METHODS which Ford claim to fix the problem and the shudder STILL remains!!!!!!! One thing I do know is the 8 cyclinder cars dont have any problem! The've a different pump bolted directly to the passenger side of the block with a remote oil reservoir mounted onto the thermo fan shroud panel! No V8's have steering shudder that I know of. Maybe this setup is the real fix! FORD ARE YOU READING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Peter, Thanks for your explaination of APS's auto mods BUT can you please elborate on what my $660 will exactly be purchasing in this upgrade you refer to?? Do you change the line pressure? Do you modify the valve body?? Do you change to redline oil?? Whats the $660 buy me??? Look forward to your reply

Hey Fordtech, would be much appreciated if you could supply the part# of the Ford Genuine Special Tool for the valve springs and price for my dealer told me theres no such thing!!! Also XR6ikness can you please tell me all about the job your getting done at Autotek in Granville ... are they changing the springs in the car or are they pulling the head off??? Do they have a special tool and how long did they take to do the job??? Also how much did they charge to do the job and what did 24 XR8 valve springs cost???

Hi all, Just wondering whats involved in changing the valve springs to stop valve float .... can the springs be changed without removing the head for cylinders 5 & 6 are very close to the firewall? Also which springs are people using as I've heard XR8, GT, and Crow springs all mentioned as suitable replacements? Is there a special tool that can be purchased to assist doing this job? All replies much appreciated

Thanks FORDTECH, nice to have my dealers tales verified. We've lifted the car on a hoist and turned the wheels manually from lock to lock 40 times with the reservoir cap on a few times now but this has'nt acheived anything ... so much for FORDS TSB's!!! Has this Voo Doo fixed the shuddering problem for you as my dealer says its not worked for them .... They've even had a vacum pump on the reservoir trying to help bleed the system of air but the bloody thing still shudders. There's nothing worse than driving around in a new car that has steering noises of a 20 year old car Has anyone out there resolved the shuddering issue successfully ??????

Hi all, thanks for your reply's .... the rack has been tightened many times and even been replaced altogether but to no avail XR Phantom. The creaking still persists in the steering column and the shuddering remains in the power steering pump when turning to the left at slow speeds eg(engine idling). Any further idea's ... please dont tell me to tighten the rack

Hi everyone .... just wondering if any of you have had drama's with the steering collum creaking in your XR6T's? Mine feels like your driving a 20 year old car at the moment and it pisses me off no end especially since I also experience power steering pump shudder when turning to the left at slow (engine idling) speeds as well!!!!!!!!! My dealer said there's to be a recall to address the steering collum creak by way of replacing the whole steering collum! The power steering shudder problem when turning left at slow speeds (engine idling) has still to be retified so my dealer tells me Maybe FORDTECH can verify the issues and ways of fixing the power steering drama's everyone's experiencing ... my dealers replaced the power steering pump and rack BUT IT STILL SHUDDERS WHEN TURNING LEFT!!!!!!!! Maybe we should start a poll on this .... let me know your thoughts

Thanks for the explanation FordTech .... Is there anything we can do with the Canister Purge Valve Solenoid in the meantime whilst waiting for the new Cals B29.3 to become reality? What would happen if you'd disconnect the wiring to the Solenoid or put a T piece in to vent the fumes to a carbon canister like the old carby cars? I'm so sick of this things idle/stalling drama's that I'd try anything! Do you have any ideas?

Hi all, I've had the Canister Purge Valve replaced twice now on my XR6T to resolve idle/stalling dramas but have had no results at all despite my dealer showing me (several times) Ford's TSB that this is the fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dealer seem convinced this is the problem but FordTech informed me that because this Purge Valve Solenoid is controlled by the ECU ... its the actual software which is to blame ... Can someone please explain to me what the Canister Purge Valve Solenoid does and how it has the ability to disrupt the idle speed or make the engine stall???????????? All explanations would be greatly appreciated
