  2. Most of the older red cars that are faded are painted in Single Stage as are most non metallic colours, meaning they have the primer and the colour, metallic colours have a clear coat (clear over base) that provides more UV protection. Expensive Daewoo changed in the VE series but prior to that Im pretty sure they were still using single stage for the red and white. If the new car price is extra for metallic, then its fair to say its clear over base as there are charging you for clear, if the non metallic are the same price then it will also be clear over base. The other way to tell is if you get a applicator and some polish, if the applicator changes to the colour of the car then its single stage. Now in saying all that Single stage is pretty labour intensive to keep looking its best. Clear over base, is a piece of piss. Im not sure what ford use for there solid colours (red), I know Expensive Daewoo changed because of their export market to Dubai, the sun would kill them in a minute. Hope this helps Have fun Chris
  3. You guys are ledgends. I got a F6 snorkle from Ford and fitted it up in around 30mins. I followed the measurments and they are spot on. Thanks for putting the time in to make this heaps easier for all. I also got a SS Inductions panel filter they have some factory seconds for $50 at the moment if you can get to the factory. Thanks again for the directions. Chris
  4. Well..................normally you would be right. But this CAPA flash box I got handed to me (long story) and yes its unlocked, but it has no tunes on it. So I am getting a tune for my ute, but I was offered one tune for $XXX to get the 3 tunes was a fair bit extra. So I opted for just the one. As I figured I would barely change between the three tunes anyway. Bring on the 98 tune with 12psi Im quite excited as well, cant wait for monday. Chris
  5. Not sure if we have a similar problem but. I also have a 03 XR6T that was leaking a tiny bit of coolent each night (about a 10c piece worth) I called by the mechanic and we did a pressure test. Everything was good. After telling him in not dreaming things he suggested that maybe when the engine cools down the parts contract and develop a leak but when the engines is hot they parts expand and seal the leak. So after doing some searching while engine was cold in the mornings I found the leak just below the thermostate housing, there is a metal pipe, this apperantly has an oring on it that had sh*t it self. We replaced it and everything has been fine since. Not sure if this helps you but it may. Chris
  6. this is what Im wondering but If the car is "tuned" for 98, how much better then if the car is "tuned" for 95? roughly im not expecting exact as I know there are many many variables but it just had me thinking today, and now Im curious as hell. Chris
  7. that's what I wasnt sure about if there was a "BANG" that could possibly happen from the lesser fuels. I have filled up today with V Power 98 in preperation for the tune. It just got me thinking, I have used all sorts of fuel in it from E95, PULP95, PULP98 and never have I felt any difference. In saying that though I have no idea what FORD tune them for. I also carry a bit of gear round for work (approx 200 - 300kg) so maybe this is why I cant notice the difference. Then again maybe I just dont have the foot against the firewall enough. Chris
  8. HI Guys I'm after some help, but real world on the road help not marketing hype I'm getting the XR6 turbo tuned next week by the guys at Hi Torque and I'm wondring how much difference at the wheels does the various different fuels make to the power. I understand that premium 98 is best for performance or a higher octane fuel but if the car is tuned to the given fuel of choice how much difference would there be between say 95 and 98 octane fuels. My thoughts are around a couple of KW is this a fair assumption or am I way off the mark. And it's not a cheap skate question I'm just curious. Thanks in advance. Chris

  10. Thanks for that link, I cant believe I didnt find it myself. Chris
  11. I have a 03 BA XR6T Ute with a factory BF hard lid with the power buldge. I was given the kit to fit while the lid was being painted and it came complete with everything and has been fitted as per the directions and works fine. But............ Ive noticed it sits back about an inch more then others I see getting round. When I climb in underneath with the lid down but the tail gate open, everything seems to line up. Ill get some better pics up in a day or two if it doesnt make sense. Is there such a thing as a BA (flat lid) fitting kit and a BF (power buldge) fitting kit. Im wondering if I was supplied with the wrong fitting kit. If you zoom in on these you may see how far the back sits over, also some of the black plastic inner liner is visable from the front of the tub.???? Thanks Chris
  12. I have just found the American Racing site and it seems the rims may be either 24 or 40 mm offset. Dont know if this helps anyone http://www.americanracing.com/browse_carroll.asp
  13. Hey guys, Im hoping some of you may be able to help me out. What Im wondering is on a 04 BA XR6T Ute will these rims fit. They are from a clients current model Mustang GT500 as he has upgraded. Anyway they are 20 x 9 all round. I know the back should be fine its the front Im worried about. I know the stud pattern is right. And Normally Id just go round and bolt them up but they are wheels only. I believe the offset is +25 from some of the website Ive seen them on but I think I also saw a 43mm offset aswell. They are the American Racing Razor rims. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Chris
  14. Im would say yes. One of my clients imports the current Mustangs and parts to suit, He tried to convince me a set of 20" forged alloy Geuine Shelby Mustang rims needed to go on my BA XR6T Ute. I believe "keith for wheels" also has this rims available so they should be able to confirm what will definatly fit. Chris
  15. Thanks for the welcome, I got a Mercury Silver one, the dame colour as I painted the Hilux lol. Its suits the business identity. Plus love the flake in it when polished and sitting in the sun. Ill come by the Qld section and say g'day for sure. Chris
  16. Firstly feel free to move this to the right section I couldnt find a intro section so picked here as I have a ute. My name is Chris and I just upgraded my old work Hilux to a XR6 Turbo ute and although am a self confessed Expensive Daewoo nut. Am wondering If ive been missing out on something over the years. Although I didnt get a new car its a 04 BA auto, Im loving it so far. I have a few mods to make it better to work out of that still need to be done but so far being stock Im happy. I am going to make a custom tray and box like on my lux below. So it should certainly be different. And fun having a work car that still runs decent times. I am looking forward to chatting with you guys. Chris My old hilux
