Haven't been here in a while... things look a bit different!! Rec'd an email about getting my arse into gear and logging in, so... here I am!
-
Hey all, Haven't been here in a long time now. Just thought I'd let you know the throttle body clean did the job. Cleaned once, hooked up intake again, fired her up, a nice big cloud of blue smoke and it was smoother. Further cleaning got it even better. Smoother idle, smoother through the gears. Much better. Thanks! Now to get this diff sorted out (for the 3rd time).

Gotta be a door/boot ajar warning. Happens to me all the time when I move the car with the bootlid down but not latched

One more thing guys - I've seen a few debates on what to clean the TB with. Carby cleaner, or... ?

Why are all of these good cruises happening the one week that I will have been away in over a month?!

I reckon dark grey would look great, deep blue even better! Good contrast

I know a bloke who got caught in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel back when it was the one camera in that "white band" of light... talk about stupid. Plenty of others I know get done by well-posted fixed speed cameras - it only takes a few seconds of absent-mindedness and you're goooone. And the worst bit is that they put them on the nice straight bits of twisty-as-all-buggery country roads so as soon as you're in the clear and you let your speed slip a bit you get done. School zones in NSW should have had flashing lights years ago - if it really is about the safety of the kids and not revenue raising. Finally they've done the flashing light bit in some places, but not enough... it should be all school zones. I wouldn't know the difference between a school day and Sunday. And I love that Storey Bridge! Every time I'm in Brisbane I get a bit paranoid that there's a camera on it because it's just too nice and straight. Now I know I'll have to watch out next time I'm there.

Hahaha. Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll have a look & let you know how I go.

Hmmm, yeah I've still been looking around after posting and it looks like a dirty TB can cause it. I'll rib 'er off and have a look. Thanks. K&N is very new but I'll check that out too while I'm at it.

Hey guys, I've been having some problems lately with my N/A's idle. It's a BA MkI, 5-speed manual and often when I pull up at the lights the idle will sit at about 800-950rpm then the car will shudder a little and the idle will drop down to somwhere between 500-700rpm, and sometimes even as low as 250rpm (at which point I'm surprised it doesn't stall). This was very bad last week when I pulled into a car park and was turning from one section to another, clutch out and it stalled - right in the middle of my turn and I lost power steering which wasn't good. The only thing that I've done to the car is CAI + K&N panel but this problem was occuring (not quite on the same level) before that. I spoke with my mechanic who said it'd be best to take it to Ford so they can plug it into their CADCAM machine (or something like that) to find out what was going on. He also said that sometimes if the battery has been disconnected for an extended period of time, it can stuff up the idle. So before I take it anywhere I thought I'd post up here and see if anyone had any ideas? EDIT: When dropping to 250rpm the tacho goes nuts, swinging from 250rpm - 900rpm several times before it levels out. Cheers, Damo.

Ask him how many IT 'architects' they have at his IT 'engineering' company. ← engineering is more than just building a bridge so get over it!!!!! ← Jeeez. How did that one go down? "Hey darling, they're picking on me on the Turbo forum. Can you post something and stick up for me please?" Just kidding. And yes, I've heard of software and network engineering, but never heard "IT engineering" - that one certainly was new. ← Stop picking on the IT geeks, who else is going to fix my computers retractable cup holder when it breaks. ← Exactly the retractable cup holder is a vital part of any system. IT Engineer is a general term covering Software , hardware and network engineering. ← IT has always been a bit of a buzz word - engineer isn't. The two just look wrong together.Anyways, I'm an IT geek as well... in the field. So there ya go.

It certainly is nice in Spring but after living in Melbourne and Sydney I'm happy with Sydney. Canberra wouldn't work for me - I love having the waterways so close by. A mate of mine and his fiance recently moved down there (you guessed it, public servants, both of them!) and while they're now "all the way in Canberra", they still make it to Sydney quite often and it's not hard for them.

3) Search for and connect to an unsecured wireless network. There are plenty in every neighbourhood. Cost: free. People will learn from their lack of security the hard way (just be nice and don't thrash the connection - otherwise you'll get busted sooner!)

I also am soft. I will send the girlfriend along in her (faded) red 1992 Corolla. She is not soft.

Joysus, hiddeous! Now I understand your username a lil more crans, leave the fibreglass alone mate. You'll only make it look worse. It's the most garish thing I've ever seen on a BA/BF dash. I think in some cars with cheapo plastic dashboards (Lancer, WRX, etc) this might wash but the interior in the Falcon is a little above that and that guage installation cheapens it up beyond belief. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we're driving Rolls Royce's here but the dash is certainly a nicer unit than most cars that have this kind of guage installation. But, like others have said... if that's what you wanna do then there's no-one stopping you!

Hmmm, Whirlpool used to tell you how many ports were available but it looks like they might not do that anymore, maybe since the addition of ADSL2+... not sure.
-
Why don't you check for yourself on Whirlpool?Doesn't anyone here have cable? I had BigPond cable connected about 5 years ago at my folks' place and it was bloody awesome. And it only got better. I know several people with Optus Cable where it gets really jammed up in peak periods by my parents' place never has this problem at any time, nor does anyone I know with Telstra cable. And the downloads are always around 1.6mb/sec. I haven't been there for 2 years now and dearly miss my cable. I've been with TPG for over 18 months (had a dry spell waiting for phone numbers to be sorted out, etc) on ADSL. ADSL2+ still isn't available in my area yet. I'm on 1500/256 with a 25gb download or something for $70/month but the service doesn't really have any problems and I don't care about download limits... I only need speed for remote site access, etc so I'm lucky if I use 3gb a month. iiNet is too fricken expensive for these sort of plans so I never touched them (I thought I should probably mention them).
