  1. I read the manual, and basically it says that cd Compression is a way of compensating for the noise of the car at higher speeds (talks about a 35db variance or whatever) and that it basically makes low (I assume quieter) passages music slightly louder/clearer. I tried it while the car was in the garage and it does seem to smooth the music out, but brings some of the music to a slightly higher level (guitars, singing etc) and seem to keep the louder part of the music (drums, bangs) at roughly the same level. From what I heard it was only a slight, very slight difference.
  2. I was told by a dealer that the main reason for the CD compression option in the menu of the Prem sound system was to add an inbuilt compensation to quality of burnt CD's and this was one of the best additions made to the new sound system to make it more customer friendly. Of course a dealer will say anything to make a sale. The owners manual says a different story about increasing lower sound levels above the normal road noises on CD's. Again it does not specify CDR's OK compression is used to "smooth" sound. What I mean is that if a quick sound (like a gunshot) is heard compression will attenuate the loudness of the sound. This enables the user to increase the overal level of the sound without the really loud sounds becoming to loud. basically it squashes everything. That's about as simple as I can make it. If you want some more detail pm me and I can dig out some more info for you. cheers David

    First Impressions

:hiwelcome: A great source of info is right here... better than the bloody manual. Have a search... its great. my 2 cents worth
  4. A quick 2 things I want to bring up here. 1. If the BA system "sees" the CDR it indeed will play it and it is therefore designed to play it. So any crap from ford about no warranty is exactly that, except if your CDR explodes like that other pic( never seen that before) 2. Whilst I don't (and won't) be the music police here, I will give everyone a warning. Stealling MP3's from the net is illegal, there are no gray areas here. You are stealing from artists and the whole food chain down from the songwriter. Whislt I won't dob you in, I love this site and all the help I have got from it. Some of you in your posts have already given more than enough information to be prosecuted, and trust me according to the law, it only takes one track on one CD and your gone (criminal record). So for the sake of people like me who earn a living from selling CD's, please don't do it :hiwelcome: ...I know I can't stop you as most people believe it to be OK to pirate music. At least don't post that you have here cause I would hate for anyone to be prosecuted from what seems to be an innocent post. :o for reading and next time your downloading, think of all the people who have gone into making the track, around 400-500 hours for a top of the line production (ie Kylie, prince, madonna, Elton John, any one else in this league). So if you down load an album its about 5000 - 6000 man hours gone into it, don't you think that's worth $20-$30 of your money.... I do. my 2 cents worth David
  5. A quick 2 points I want to bring up here:- 1.
  6. any weekend in may is great with me.... justdont do april
  7. I agree with ken (amazing that really). The on button was very hard to find at times, especially when a certain feline had it wedged into her ear. I couldn't find it. Anyhow, because of this I will probably be trading in a brand new Uniden UH050 for a hands free model, with in hands free system. If anyone wants a UH-050 (used once) then I will post a price when I find what I am going to replace it with. my 2 cents worth should have just got the best one first time around!
  8. I am colour blind.. so I aint getting into it. However at the risk of offending those with a citric.... A close friend of mine reckons it looks like Barocca Piss Yellow. my 2 cents worth
  9. May sounds great, any weekend as April is crap for me already. Let me know and I can book some private tastings for us, they lay on cheese and special discounts if you want to purchase. I have also stayed up there lots so if you want any help with accom let me know A friend of mine also owns this place so I could give her a call if everyone wanted to stay in this style accom and see if I can get a mates rate/ group discount. Hunter Resort Anyway, hope this help.. and as big Kev says.. I'm excited!
  10. Just for the record, I was in that lead pack of cars that the sarg got under the goulburn bridge. I had my cruise control set to 120Km... no more. none of us were doing 134 as he suggested. I drive for a living, no licence no job for me, so I am acutely aware of the risks and drive accordingly. Anyway I just wanted to set the record straight as I feel there is a huge difference between 9% over the speed limit and 22% over. my 2 cents worth.
  11. Yep.. what Trumpy said!
  12. OK.. this is something I know a lot about.... wine. So my suggestion is, an early morning sat start, maybe 8 am and up to the hunter where we do a few wine tastings probably 4 vineyards and then a stop for the evening, dinner drinks etc. Sunday would be a late start around 10, so that those people from syd could drive up and join us for a long day cruising around the Putty rd etc. Let me know if you want to taste as I am a member at a few vineyards and can get us private tastings, also some discounts on accom as a friend of mine owns a resort up there. my 2 cents worth
  13. Well I think we are all in agreement that a CB should be a must (if not compulsory) on all cruises. I bought mine for the weekend and was a great investment... If for no other reason that it kept a certain feline well entertained for the whole 2 days... which meant I could concentrate on my driving and the wonderful surrounds..... and not having to listen to her Also... it made me feel part of the "group" my 2 cents worth says that (as Cro said) we can all afford $50K for a car... we should all have to kick the tin for a CB to go cruising with. Also if someone is doing something stupid... they can be asked to desist immediately... hopefully before it becomes a problem.
  14. HI Cro I would love to do this... I really want to now how to drive the car much better. My only problem is that as the year gets on I get busier and thus won't be able to do much from July-Nov. So the sooner the better would be good and I would like to do all 3 of the courses. Thanks
  15. It looks to me as though that car has a Venom undercoat..... so HgAg must be the first coat over the venom primer before the final top coat.

    Putty Road

Just a quick suggestion.. why not an overnight stay somewhere..... and take the wollombi rd up there instead of the expressway. This road is one of the real treasures in Australia, a most spectacular sight. my 2 cents worth
  17. I have had my car now for 2 months and it has always been a bit "off" The steering wheel is lower on the right than the left. Had the 3000K service done and they took it to a wheel alignment place who printed out and said it was fine. As with others I have read, I took my last car to a tyre specialist with the same problem and they fixed it. Looks like I will have to do the same thing again!
  18. Fantastis pics Alex. The dam Wall is now my desktop pic. Thanks again
  19. I think the rule we need to follow is one of the Lords. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Simple really, drive like you want the person in front and behind you to drive like. safely and sanely! We all do this, we all get home alive, happy and without insurance paperwork to fill in. my 2 cents worth.
  20. thanks againeveryone, see you soon
  21. pt 2 of that
  22. on the way to jindy from canberra
  23. the bestest colour!
  24. Well what to say.... the only thing really.. a great big thank you from me and SWMMC (she who must make coffee) to Trumpy and YCl for their great organisational skills. Also thanks to everyone who came along and made our first (definetly not our last) trip a very memorable one. great bunch of people and cars.. Here are some pics.... when I get the old fashioned ones developed I'll post a few of them as well. cheers david and shelley
