  1. Is it just me or does that bonnet scoop look a lot like the new Hilux?
  2. Try radarlaser.com.au Click on -"Undetectable" Technology- and have a read about the Beltronics STi This site will tell you all of the technical stuff. Looks like if you wanted to take the risk this would be the best one to do it with. I bought a Bel Pro RX65 last year and it has been brillliant but I'll be selling it soon, not willing to risk the fine when the new laws come in. The police minister was on the radio and even she said "Radar detectors have a negligible effect on the road toll but these new laws are sending a strong message." STRONG MESSAGE OF WHAT?!? They are determined to empty our wallets even if we stray over the limit by just a few k's? If they were fair about it I wouldn't have needed to buy one in the first place. I don't intentionally speed but I do concentrate on the road more than my speedo. The multanova can't tell the difference though.
  3. Don't forget Michelin Pilot Preceda's, a step down in grip from the 'Sport' but an even bigger step down in price and they last well too. Treadwear: 240 Traction: AA Temp.:A I'm enjoying them but I don't have a T so my input may not be so relevant.
  4. I've done it but I fluked the wire-cut, I figured FF stands for fifty/fifty... as in your chances of success. How does the code relate to the colour?
  5. Exactly what I've got in my XG PanelVan; Pacemaker extractors, 2 1/2" SS, Lukey straight through muffler, standard cat, no rear resonator. It's got a quiet rumble at idle or cruising with no drone but as soon as you drop the boot it roars to 3500rpm and screams above that. P.S. "Straight through muffler" just means that it's a single pipe full of holes that goes straight through the muffler, as opposed to an inlet pipe going in one side offset to the left for example, and the outlet pipe coming out the other side offset to the right, as a result the gasses have to sort of zig-zag through the muffler and is a lot quieter.
  6. What makes you say this? Driving fairly average k's you should make your money back in about two years, from then on it's savings. The LPG vapour injection Late model camira costs around 2 grand more and they say you'll almost break even in a year. Let's hope Ford follows Expensive Daewoo and sells factory fitted vapour injection too.
  7. The torque rating is much higher than a T56 ... makes the T56 look like a lawn mower gearbox ... these ZFs are behind engines putting out close to 1000Nm and in cars weighing 25% more than the BA range of cars. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> shouldn,t have any problems handling aps stage 11 kit them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Should that be read as 'Stage two' or 'Stage eleven'? 'coz I'd love to see the results of stage eleven...
  8. Not quite, 3:1 = 1/3 = 0.33 4:1 = 1/4 = 0.25 0.25 is lower than 0.33, so 4:1 is lower than 3:1 It's a ratio, not a number.
  9. I have a Bel Pro RX65 (reputed to be the best on the market that doesn't have to be hard-wired) and I have no complaints. One very important thing to look at when buying a radar detector is not just that it picks up everything (K, Ka, Laser, and X - X not used in Aistralia as far as I know) but also that they can be idividually turned on and off. A friend of mine bought an el-cheapo and he can'e turn X band off. The result is near-constant beeping so he doesn't use it. I bougt mine from the U.S. on eBay, a bit over $300 delivered to my door brand new. only thing is Bel Aust. won't recognise the warranty but I haven't had any problems.
  10. Renault Laguna has a plastic credit card type key that you just insert into the centre console then start the car with a button like the GT, press the button again to stop but you have to before you can take the card out. Pooey car in general though, transmission is very rough.
  11. Or just wait 'till the splits appear on all four, shouldn't be too long...
  12. I've now got Preceda's on my car, not without a few headaches though. I went in for the appointment with the Dunlop rep which was supposed to be 10am, 11:30 rolls around and he's still not there. the poor guy at Bob Janes has been trying his mobile but he isn't even answering it. Evenually he calls saying he's 5 mins away, over an hour and a half late! didn't let me know beforehand that he was going to be late or anything. COME ON DUNLOP, COMMON COURTESY? After this absolute waste of my time they still charge me for the little bit of tread I had used (less than 20%) and the rep had left so I couldn't even argue with him about how fair that was after wasting my time waiting for him. Also, get a depth guage and measure your tread wear before going in and do your sums as to how much it should cost you. I was told that the 1.5mm I had used was 25% or the original 8mm? Anyone got a calculator? it's leass than 20% and about $30.00 difference. Dunlop also said the problem was purely cosmetic and posed no risk whatsoever, not sure how true that is? On the up side the Preceda's are heaps better, more traction, more comfortable ride, less noise... well worth the $60 or so more. DON"T BUY Sp3000a's, and given the customer 'service' I had to endure STEER CLEAR OF DUNLOP

    Short Shift

The only possible downside I can think of is that because you're doing the same amount of work over a shorter distance the throw gets a bit heavier, but it's not a lot heavier, just the masses might complain so that's why it's not standard. (I realise the masses go auto, but still...) probably also a cost issue. There is a cheaper non-herrod version soon to be or maybe already released that from what I can see is identical apart from the colour. It's under the $300 mark but I haven't got hold of one yet so I'n not sure how it compares. if you're interested I could try and find out who makes it.
  14. I'v got Dunlop Sp3000a's on the front end of my car, only done about 5000k's and both already have cracks going the whole way across the tread. I called Tanya on the number 'CRO' gave and she said to go to Beaurepairs. The guy there claimed that he had never heard of any problems with these tyres but said he would replace them with me paying for the tread I had used. Seems like quite a few people are getting new ones for free, do you reckon I have any chance seeing as they're not on a new Falcon under warranty? Thing is, I don't want more Sp300a's, since I got them I've only heard bad things. I've heard good things about the Michelin Precedas and luckily the guy at Bob Janes' in Claremont (WA) where I got them said it wouldn't be a problem to pay a bit extra and get them instead. Does anyone have an opinion on whether Precedas are the right direction to go in (Pilot Sport 2's were about double the price so I'm counting them out).

    Petrol Prices

And in W.A. it doesn't matter what petrol station you go to, even if you buy from a shell station, it's virtually all from BP's Kwinana refinery anyway, just different additives.
