  1. repco recently sent me a specials sheet with a new deal from pbr. is just front calipers, pads & slotted discs, was around 400 bucks from memory, seems cheap & all I could see was missing the braided hoses, might be worth checking out
  2. there are HEAPS of posts about this, & it is definately possible to light them, I have done mine & heaps of people have done theirs or had theirs done. Feel free to contact me if you like, but if youare handy with an iron, do a search & there are some really in depth instructions around & also plenty of us that will do it for you if you like.
  3. As far as the ohmd readings go, they are directly related to the length & thickness of the wire used in the coil of the injector. longer coil equals more resistance, thicker wire less resistance, sorta like trying to push water through a hose. How it affect electrical circuits is as follow: higher resistance draws less current through it's circuits, specifially the driver transistors in the ecu. the lower resistance the more current draw. So using a lower resistance injector in a car not suitable will draw to much currernt through the ecu & blow the driver circuits as happened on apollo/camry(same engine different injectors). 1 ohm should not cause any dramas though. voltage also affect current draw as well as resistance-called ohms law current is directly related to voltage & resistance or some other crap I learned to long ago!
  4. I got mine for 39,500 drive away since then had sat nav fitted, alarm, tinted window inc abn discount. am actually thinking about selling it got 30k on the clock & seems to be a pretty good one, what do u reckon its worth?...hoping for around 33 but not sure
  5. cutting the brake booster line just isnt real smart I dont think. the BOV is much smarter, I seem to remember when tightening my inlet manifold, there is some sort of metal christmas tree type vacuum fitting on the inlet manifold under the air ducts. I am pretty sure it just has a vac line to it & you could use a t pice to connect to it. and your oil pressure guage u can probably tap into it somehwere down near the actual sensor- dont know where it is, but it will be somewhere near the oil filter. you should be able to pickj it up closer to the fire wall of inside the car, it has to go there somewhere-track it back as far as you feel the need.

    Can Cracker

thanks simmo, I have had a few reservations but can get a pretty good deal & am pretty convinced. thanks for your input, I mainly do jap cars so think it will suit me pretty well.

    Yahooooo!

sat nav can be bought as a removable system almost anywhere we sell them starting from about 700 bucks, can do one at cost if u like

    Vaporate

most of that is irrelevant. fuel temps wont change as the collars are after the injector absically, orat least right at the end. A measured amount of fuel has been metered in. if fuel is too cold it can ice up on older carby systems but this is not a factor on injected cars cos they are right up near the inlet valves for this reason.

    Vaporate

to my understanding, they work as follows:- as we all know an injector must atomise fuel as much as possible. but where the vaporised fuel hits the cool edges & surfaces it condenses & is not completely burnt. by having these heated tips on the injectors it aids in the vaporisation. Now I am not trying to sell these, I am VERY sceptical also, but they do offer a money back guarrantee although conditions apply. They have been tested by some independant testing company in australia & this is on their website. I just think it sounds viable but is probably too good to be true. basically it sounds like all they do is put metal collars around the injectors, then these get heated by engine heating & this aids the vaporsation action. I just know I can get them for a couple of hundred bucks & am spending 80-90 bucks a weeks in fuel & if I can save 10-15% on fuel by it I would love to.
  10. there is a place called usa exhausts in settelment road thomastown that has done a little work for me. Have only seen his work on subarus & jap cars but sure he can handle a t. the reason I mention him is he is really cheap and does excellent work.

    Vaporate

yeah I have read their testing sheets & testimonials that they have on their website & have even spoken to ne of there dealers. But of course if you are selling a product you are only going to niclude the good stuff I was more looking to real world results people from here which I have found to be fairly accurate & reliable. The results they achieve seem fairly appealing & I can buy the set at trade price so it makes it a attractive system if it works.

    Vaporate

Vaporate have a new product that clips over the injectors. The are metal & help to heat the fuel & aid the vapourisation process. They claim 15%-20% fuel savings & I was thinking about fitting them to my car. Was wondering if anyone has tried them & how they feel about them. They have a web site you can view-vaporate.com I am a bit sceptical but they seem pretty confident & say they have tried them on xr6t & got great results from fuel savings, to performance increases. Apparently on most cars just the nozzles get fitted but the t needs a new manifold gasket which I assume is due to the thickness of the original which has always been quite thick & inhibits the heat transfer. A concern I do have is overheating the injectors though, bu I assume they get cooled reasonably well by the fuel. Hope somone has tried them before cos I dont relly wanna be the ginuea pig with my car.

hey simmo, what to you think of the x-431, I am in the process of buying one at the moment but am a little worried about a few things. are you ahppy with it & how accurate do you find the software & how do you find its coverage? was tossing up between it, hanatech & maybe even carman-I dont like the snap on versions.
  14. yes you are right on the moeny there, but I would also like to ad. As far as alarms go, they do not normally connect to central locking as far as triggering goes. The BA auto locks after a few minutes anyways so most alarms although capable do not connect to the central locking to control this. The reason I say thios is the alarm is virtually indempendant of the central locking & cannot stop it from working. If an actuator jams locked or unlock though it will stop the remotes from working as the ICC wont overide their signals.
  15. not sure if it applies to the BA but I assume it does:- on the au when someone tries to pull of a rear rotor sometimes the handbrake shoe catches on a small lip inside the drum of the rotor, this bend the handbrake shoe retaining clip & allows the shoe to move sideways & touch on the face of the disc where the wheel nuts are. cause the shhh noise regardless of how it is adjusted. to fix it, just take the clip off, retension it & readjust handbrake shoes on the little start adjuster.
  16. has lowered front springs and thought someone might want some lowered leafs for free.
  17. hi everyone, I have a customer with an xr8 ute that has been lowered. because he is a tradesman , it is alittle too low for him & bottoms out on work sites. To look at it is not all that low. What I am offering is if anyone in melb wants to swap their front springs & rears leafs from a standard xr they can have his lowered suspension for free. I have a workshop just out of the city. Hope we can organise something, let me know if u are interested.
  18. The way I do it you dont need any extra pins & it wont matter whetrher it is a ute or a sedan. Each switch has its own pos & neg so you just solder an smd led & resistor across them-or for the single switches one smd resitor & 2 leds.
  19. u guys are right, the are unavailable thru jaycar unless it is old stock I bought about 6 packs. find them relatively easy to solder as I do alot of soldering for my job-auto elec. happy to do anyones in melbourne or answer any question u guys might have. when I did mine, I found it easier to scratch some covering off the tracks, solder a smd resisitor to an smd led then solder that across the switch circuit board. then u dont need any extra terminals or wires. the switch lights up any time the switch is active and is hardly visible during the day. And u c an pick neg & pos based on how the cotach burns, I forget which way but the beg terminal always burns worsed thasn the poc or visa versa. here is a pic of how my ute's look at night.
  20. Got mine as in the signature below for $39,900 drive away, I thought it was a good deal at the time cos many dealers were not dealing as sales were going really well.

    Auto Delay

the box has a fill plug on the side. The engine must be at a specific temp before correct checking can be carried out. Has to be warm, not hot. Then plug is removed & should be full to the plug hole.
  22. on the T and many other cars we service, we tend to use a really big pair of multi grips. I have about 5 types of filter removers, but tend to use the multis when we can get them in & on a t it is easy to do it. Also thethe t takes 7 litres or so of oil.
  23. I went surface mount & got the same story frpom jaycar. They told me the were no longer going to stock them so I bought 10 packets of them. but I am sure they will be available from other supplikers, some jaycar stores still have some in stock if u get them to check around.
  24. I DID MY OWN BLUE SWITCHES. UTES ARE QUITE EASY TOO BUT IS FIDDLY WORK
  25. if its a rotten type of smeel it could be bacteria in the A?C system. The dark, cold & damp enviroment in the evaporator is the perfect place for bacteria to grow. This can easily be treated by applying an anti bacteria/deodouriser to the system, just make sure it is going to kill the bacteria & not just hide it. You apply it thourgh the inlet duckts uner the hood & through the recirc duct which will be under the dash behind the glove box.
