Terrific photos Steve, well done

Thanks to Steve for taking the lead in organising a cruise again :tosser: On a wider note, I do feel that the support for the cruises are great, right up to the last 24 hours, where lately significant numbers drop out, leaving the organiser with bookings for far more people than what turns up (last cruise we were expecting 18, and 7 turned up for breakfast on the day) I know things can come up at the last moment, which are more important than cruising around, but spare a thought for the person putting in the effort in organising this, and what you would like to see orgainsed in the future, as participation is everything in these volunteer type of arrangements, so please give some thought for the effort going into reservations etc. before making a commmitment for Breakfast, Lunch or the like. This is by no means meant as a criticism of anybody in particular, but only as a general observation, so please read my post in that spirit And by the way, it is not Steve causing me to write this post, but only the desire to have some good Breakfast or Lunch cruises in the future as well

I think we run the same rims, so either the brake guy didn't check it properly, or there are subtle differences on the rims, as it definitely doesn't touch, though it is very close
-
I have had the braided hoses for a couple of years, they were supplied by PBR as part of the 'Premium' upgrade. Couldn't tell you the price
-
Well, to break the trend - WE WILL BE THERE

It's a BA XR6 Turbo The backing plates are there, but as they are smaller than the disc, you cannot see them. Edge bevelling had to be trimmed slightly to fit the caliper. Pedal feel is unchanged (as you would expect) Braking is better, with a more confident feel
-
Haven't got the 5000's yet, they were delayed Finished fitting the BF rears today And YES that are VERY close to the inside of the rim, but JUST clears it Photos:

Sounds like a mixture issue, as this is really the only thing which will produce smoke under the circumstances you describe. Is this a new problem, or have you had it for a while? Get your tuner to have a look at what is happening, and see if the tune needs adjusting

That's exactly what I did for my SatNav and Amp

OK I'm not going to shoot you down here, but I do think you have been given bad advice, or have misunderstood what may or may not be achieved. Cooler engine bay - I think not!!! Stop and think about it for a second........ You have a small tube supplying only the centre of the turbo with a small amount of water, purely to keep the bearing housing below a temperature where the oil will carbonise, which would result in blocked bearing housing on the turbo, nothing more, nothing less. The small amount of water passing through the housing (even if you were able to increase the flow by 50%) will have absolutely no impact on engine bay temperature. The issue here is if the standard cooling system is doing its job, and with the right oil, the answer is yes, as we would have otherwise seen more failed turbos full of carbon in the bearing housing, something which is not the case. Will you achieve more water flow - possibly Will it make the temperature lower - Hmmmm yet to be convinced Will it have any impact on longevity of the turbo - Probably not Hope this helps without offending I do agree that we should have an open mind to whatever people do, but also that some of the 'Modifications' discussed should be criticised if they are of doubtful benefit, as other members look to the forum for advice on useful things to do to their cars to increase performance or durability, and not all advice given passes either of those criteria.

Been done to death in the past, do a search Mods, please close thread before we get into that sh*tfight again
-
I concur with the comments posted - WASTE OF TIME Look at the actual hole diameter in the turbo itself, and you will find they are pretty small as well. Further there are cars which run high hp with no problem in this area

Midland Gate shopping centre is only a couple of 100 metres away, and there is a new cinema centre in there, that should keep you busy for a couple of hours.

Our last cruise in the Perth Hills was pretty wet (you weren't there). Ended up at Mundaring Weir Hotel for a brew and snacks, with a few guys continuing on to Youngy's place afterwards Youngy's wheel nearly fell off

Photos of the BF rear setup compared to the BA (picture is of AU II rear brakes, but BA is not much bigger 287 mm vs 303 mm). The BF rear discs are 328 mm and ventilated, and the pads are wider, and the caliper is obviously much bigger as well, though only single piston still. Aluminium parts of the calipers will be painted RED before fitting

We have a comedian in our midst Seriously - Drain the oil with the engine idling and in gear, which will get most of the oil out. Fill in the same way, until oil runs out of the fill plug (engine must idle in gear, and trans should not be too hot. I lift my car on the right hand side, which menas I get a little more oil in than if the car was 100% level, but hasn't caused any problems. I have made a special gravity fill system, which allows me to fill the required 8 lts of fluid fairly easily. One tip - Watch your hand when removing and re-fitting the fill plug, the exhaust is blo*dy HOT
-
Dump the coolant, and fill with undiluted coolant, minimum 33% glycol (I use Tectalloy 90) My car is one of the first 'T's' built (Dec. 02) and I have used the Tectalloy 90 since less then a year old, and there is no trace of corrosion in my engine (I have had it apart quite a few times, so I know what it looks like inside ) If you choose to use a stronger concentrate and dilute it, make sure you use de-mineralised water, as you never know what is in your tap water.
-
Interesting Maybe ask Ford why the ZF has been equipped with a drain plug then Definitely worth changing the fluid regularly, but how often is difficult to say, it depends on how you drive, how much power you have, cooling etc, but to say its sealed is just plain stupid
-
Pretty simple! Get him to plug it in, select 'F' for factory, press and hold "Program" until it flashes, turn on ignition and watch it load the 'Factory' tune, and you should be good to go
-
Just received the BF rear brake setup, and boy they are BIG compared to the BA ones. Now to match the colour of the red front calipers so that they colour match Expect the see the DBA 5000 front setup tomorrow or Friday
-
R&D mate, that's all. If they wanted to, they could, but Ford are choosing the easy and low cost option of importing a generic engine, relying on the volume buyers to know SFA about engines and torque @ rpm values, but only focus on price of the car and fuel consumption Just sad to see more skilled jobs lost, as this is FOREVER. What about the V8, are they going to kill that all together?
-
Judging by the apperance of you car yesterday - YES YOU DO (and fix that hole in your bumper would you ) Not a bad idea, a cruise to Rockingham would be good
-
You guys really know how to make someone feel great Anyway, it was worth it to have my ZF working 100%
-
Adrian, I think it's either or, you don't have to remove both. With a stock intake system you may be able to access it through the top, but with the Nizpro intake plenum, top access is impossible, thus the a/c compressor is moved for easy access.
-
Make sure you hold the original fitting with a spanner when you screw the new fitting in, as the original is like glass, and breaks REAL easy Easiest access is by moving the a/c compressor out of the way.
