I am unsure what system they adopt. I know expensive european cars will distribute the power to different wheels but these sytems are a fuel retardent or spark inhibitors I think. Its not good when taking a corner at a fair speed and you want some torque to push you out (a nice gen iii trait I must say) and that damn light comes on and leaves you out there. As soon as the power comes off the springs decompress and it gets real ugly real quick.

that's the bachelor in me. Good point for that reason.

Any one else hates the traction control?? I tell the wheels what do do not the other way around. Nothing worse that setting the car up for a quick corner and that damn thing kicks in upsetting the whole weight distribution. It stays permanently off.

The only time you will see price fluctuatons is out with series 1 and in with series 2. Then you may have some buying power. Even the price of used is up T's getting over 90% at auctions in QLD

Not a contributing factor but definately the cause of death. Scenario: Your cruising in your car on the highway at a casual 110 115km/h. Old mate coming towards you from the other way falls asleep at the wheel and has a head on with you. "On the books" fatigue was the cause of that accident and that's were they derive their figures from, sourcing the TAIS file from the accident. The fact that you died was most probably the extra 15km/h. If you were doing 90 to 95 maybe you would have had a chance, an extra split second to swerve. Im a bit biased I suppose, maybe ive knocked on the door and delivered the bad news too many times.

Plonk can answer that one from a NSW perspective as I am unaware what they use. In QLD it can be both front on and rear on but "flash policy" states that in the hours of darkness you must take from the rear. Front on is a more effective way as it calculates the speed differently as it does in away mode. In away mode you get more "illegals" This is where two vehicles enter the beam at the same time, the CPU will map a graph of vehicle one (if I can remember some 450 times in a splt second) and if a second vehicle enters as the CPU is doing this it tells itself two or more vehicles are present and ignores them all reagrdless of what speed it is doing. The reason for the angle could be a number of things depending on what system they use. Once reason is deffinately flash. If you take a photo of yourself in the mirror it is stuffed cause all you see is light. This is the same if you took a photo of a plate due to its reflectorised characterisitcs. The lights must hit it at an angle so it lights it up and bounces off instead of coming back on the camera.

I dont find anyone doing stupid things like that when im in mine, however the lights on the roof and the blue checkered band may have something to do with it.

Slant radar was used last century!! In fact we still have one in the garage at work. Heavy rain only makes a difference if the beam that is sent is reflected or bounced off the road surface thus giving an imprecise reading. However, it is the operators responsibility to make sure that the Patrol speed correlates with the checked speedometer. If the radar is stationary then heavy rain slows down the beam by making a 'curtain'. It is pretty dumb and a waste of time to use the instrument when it is raining heavily or you can;t get a patrol speed to correlate. that's how far QLD is behind. Qld cameras are slant radar teamed up to the GATSO camera system. Stationary slant detection however has been booted for the more up to date and super effective LIDAR.(laser)

It is not if the tax man is banging on your door to collect money against your will like the used to do in the 1800's. Its all up to the foot. The limit is the limit. Recently holidayed in Victoria where I hired a car and did the winery tour throughout the country. I was absolutely astonished by the driver speed compliance. Compare this with Nth Qld drivers it was incredible. Dont get me wrong I love speed but I would also like to take things I want from a shop with out paying for them too but hey im not allowed to do that either. I see driver behaviour day in and day out, if you made the limit 80 from 60, people would do 100. If you made 200 from 100 people would do 220. But in saying this Victorias alleged 3km grace is rediculous. There will always be two sides to this story.

Have had a case where it was Far North QLD monsoon rain nad could hardly see out the rear. Heard it activate so I ordered the shot for "the hell of it" The photo quality was surprising even seeing the driver in the front seat through the rain. They are set on 1/1000 shutter speed for this reason and to take two per second if need be.
-
the rain "soaks" in some of the beam energy making it least effective, but will not make it inaccurate. It has to be severe rain to slow it down too.

On the bright side the BA no longer chews tyres at 5,000 intervals

Are the digital cameras running in most NSW vehicles. Was just informed by QLD budgetary commitee that in focus with budget objectinve there will be money for the purchase of them in QLD in 2010. This makes me so mad. If these people just realised the money in man hours and court costs these would save. I have seen them in QLD hoon squad vehcles but they stop there.

I dont want to frighten you people, but the office XR6T has just passed 30,000 and was clunkng, then got worse. Took it in and the bolted the old one off and had to put the new one on. They first tried to blame the driver from going to 1st from 4th. We said politely "I dont think so" it has since been returned with no probs. Still wouldnt say what was wrong and how it happend. Might have been a dud. The one before it we did 67,000 and they were very hard k's without a miss of a beat. Red Line is better than flat line, atleast your still alive.

I wouldnt touch the dazzle ticket if it was a lighthouse approaching. Its all well and good in our perspective but try and convince a magistrate, that's a different story. Ive seen easeir things tossed out like garbage. I relate the law to a bowa constrictor. The harder you fight the tighter it gets, however plonky said it, it can also be an ass.

Plonky just inquiring which part of paradise your in. Your a glutton for punshiment be bombarded with obscure questions. God bless there keen minds. I have a question for ya. It not has been tested in our courts yet. Whistle blow off valves more common on WRX's?? In queensland they are liable for "create undue noise" TIN. Dont get me wrong Im more of an educator not a punisher when on the road (attitude test aside of course). What is the southern states view if any. It is creating a bit of a stir at the moment. I keep my blow off valve at home, she een cooks me dinner. Ahhhh hot iron in the back....not good :cussing:

Id buy 20 $1000 dollar bombs and a ten grand 70 series cruiser short wheel base with a big 351 in it so I can jump all 20 bombs in a row. I then would get out of the cruiser after the jump pretendeing I did nothin that special whilst walking over to Paris HILTON who begs me to take her on the bonnet of my lovely XR6T
-
The day these matters become uniform the easer to manage they will be. queensland is about to introduce something along these lines shortly. The unfortunate thing that someone mentioned is that some of these lights are not true fog lights and the only reason they are there is for cosmetic value. They do look good on the car even when there off. The reflectorised characteristics on some models and wattage is where the problem starts. I admit they annoy me in a "built up area" but on the highway they are my best friend. It comes down to common courtesy on the road I suppose. Rather than writing this one we just tell them to turn em off. :

I agree with BA turbs, from QLD point of view. Without revealing too tooo much they are pretty much stocko. Believe me. We have pushed it too the limit and had to take it back to ford where a download was neede to clear the memory as it went into limp home mode. Believe me the rev lmiter is your best friend. An engine is no good with a hole in the bonnet. However the drag of lights and the extra weight impedes on the speed. The car is as fast as your ability to drive it. Gandolf the white would say that too if he left middle earth and went on cruises along Cavil Ave. There is always some trade secrets though hahaha

Interesting, Dont think I will wait until the end of the year. Just got the work XR6T back from the shop. Busted gearbox out, new one in. (auto) mechanics busted the cat converter at the same time so they replaced that too. A bit of fun and games never hurt anybody.
-
Ahhh, I want mine now, the leader of the oppositon has approved the purchase but then I hear a reliable whisper of a series II not too far away. Inclusions are a 6 speed manual with lower ratios. Another rumour was a FPV XR6T with 280kw. IF anyone has any info pleease post as the check book s burning in the pocket.

Heard a reliable rumor that series two will have 6 speed box wth lower gear ratio. Also FPV is intoing a model with 280kw's.
