  1. Has someone tried to stain the globes blue, remember when you were a kid and staining light bulbs was the in thing. Contact a stain glass shop and they could do it. The blue would round it off perfectly.
  2. anything can be done for the right price
  3. The chrome surrounds on the left main headlight fell off into the floor of the headlight frame. Thought it was strange. Back to the dealer who had to replace the light assembly. Thought nothing of it until yestersay looked at the right one and it has done the same. Has anyone else experienced this or is this a "monday" car. Little dodgy thngs lke this are the most annoying.

They were good to work with for C.H.O.G.M driving motorcades in simulated exercises. Coming out of bushes with paint guns etc. The best thing I saw was performing a night raid approaching a house driving on a dirt track at 1.00am at 100km/h with the lights off. No one saw anything except for the driver with night vision.
  5. I agree that a car should not fail when there is no reason for it too. However in the "T" there is no real need for a full throttle overtake everytime. Just remember even when overtaking your not supposed to exceed the speed limit.
  6. The AUiii used to chew the rubber, fronts in 5000. They have fixed the tyre eating problem to an extent. However when a work mate hits a gutter they dont last, one "egged" the other rim and tyre sliced. Its only rubber, I remember the glory days of driver training and one new set would not last a day on the V8 and a tank of fuel way less than a hundred k's.

As VG said officer safety is vital. The reason for the torch would be to rate the level of threat the vehicle occupants pose. Obvously in your case little to none. If your standing on the outside at night you cannot see in through tint so light is needed. You do not want a sawn off staring back at you. You will find one person goes to the driver on an intercept to clear the driver and the partner will clear the rear. A S.E.R.T officer mate of mine told me how he intercepts a car you would not be happy with that. two 100 series cruisers ramming the car off the road and draging the people out. "None of this hi how are you crap" he stated. Obviously these are high risk people and all perfectly legal and justfiable. As for the cautious driver, I aggree too, if im working at all hours of the morning, the car doing 5-10 under the speed limit is 100 to 200% over the booze limit.
  8. you lads have too much spare time on your hands
  9. some would say overtake when safe to do so, not leaving no margin for error because its that crazy little thing called error gets us everytime

    Dickson, Act

you have a description call the boys in blue now so they can handle him.
  11. VG, do you have a wrecked car register where you are?? I done the same courses and its mind boggling to know what they do. QLD has just started the register and funny enough the first car to go on it was a 100 series cruiser my partner and I wrote off (almost me with it to). Those cars were getting 20 grand at auction for the purpose of rebirth now it went for 6.
  12. does some one have a tissue please :sook:

  15. Silly Plonky....Its the Motorola onces that detect radar.
  16. The work vehicle was stalling at lights and not starting first go. This occured after a decent blat. Ford stated "umm Im not sure"(standard issue customer service response in the manual under section 23.1.6) Suggested vehicle was in limp home mode and required update from website to rectify. I was not convinced as it was not overheating but it came back fixed. Im no tech too so could be anything

    Speed Kills

I remember once when I was a kid I took a ET turbo for a test drive, no look at licence, no exchange of address, no interest in purchase, I know before you all chastise me, it was not the smartest thing. I picked my mates up and took it for a "good run" Lucky I was honest and took it back but this was another example where it can go pear shape real quick. We all have had sintuations where you look back and go why am I still here and unfortunately for those kids it will never be the case. This is why we educate.

When I was your age my priorities were exactly the same. Thinking now I would have invested or purchased land so today I could sell it and buy a ute in each colour. But buddy your only young once. Just dont bend it which is something your age bracket is good at. Treat it with respect. As for the ladies, "if you buy it they will come".
  22. As soon as we took delivery everyone took it for a wrap, which was extremely hard, Cairns to Port Douglas (dream stretch of road). That car did 60,000 km without one problem or leak. So ina nut shell 70km to 60,000 flat out.
  23. Mate I hear ya. Still on light duties after a shoulder reconstruction, and punctured lung. Landcruisers do not fly to well over 10 foot cliffs. I was the passenger at the time.
  24. QLD have been using them for some years now but only as unmarked, "people movers at HQ." The day they become HP cars is the day I put an order in for a horse (unmarked one of course, a sleeper horse, stobes hidden in the.........I will stop now) QLD are now trialing the crewman with a cage on the rear
