  1. Been there done that, nothing but slowly compounding power loss. I ended up trying hot dogs, same same, Finally went to a 2.5 stainless centre muffler $550 or $650 and a K&N filter got my power and sound back. Hope you kept the centre muffler they are nearly $400. I ended up replacing the whole exhaust with a twin 2.5 stainless and would have saved plenty of money and greif if I had done that in the first place. As far as cutting out centre muffler is concerned, from my experience. No No No No No No No. Re-install the factory muffler and you'll notice your torque come back.
  2. Yes. 56mainlines adaptation was great, but the xr8 full setup isdefinately better, sounds good, lets in more air, and looks like factory
  3. Ewww the site is going slower than a VB Commodore, have to make a donation. Anyway Phantom mine did the same, make sure they pull the bolts out and grease them up before they swing a wrench on them (else the creaking gets louder)
  4. You guys just keep getting quicker, keep up the development work so we can too. xecellent times. go go go
  5. Welcome Jamie. MATE GO FOR THE ENTIRE STANDARD XR8 SETUP WITH A BMC OR K&N FILTER, COST ABOUT $450 ALL UP, LOOKS STANDARD, SOUNDS GOOD, GETS MORE POWER
  6. Must have been just a little glitch, hasn't hapened since fingers crossed
  7. Ew, Very Scary, sounds like the computer selected limp mode for some reason. It's in at the dealer for driveshaft balance momday, I'll get them to check the codes. At least it came good, maybe the unichip needs some fine tuning
  8. the doctor says you need one swedish backpacker for each day of stress that you have had and FMC should pay all transport and accomadation. At least it seems your getting to the bottom of this. Makes you wonder how some people can call themselves mechanics.

    Stalling

Hi all. Going down the freeway yesterday at 80kph and the car began to surge for about a klm then settled down. This morning on the way to work (yuk) I gave it a mild bootful it coughed a little made some loud induction noise then stalled at the stop sign. Started again , although it sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders, thought oh f#ck, turned it off and then it started perfectly. Wonderd if it had anything to do with the BOV or wastegate actuator. Running 411cc injectors and 10lb of boost, but was not hammering the car. Got to the freeway on ramp and it flew straight to 230kph smooth as a whistle and is still running fine. Any Ideas?
  10. Mate you need the injectors now to feed it the go juice. I think it was dyno steve who said (and one Ford service manager agreed) They put the small injectors in to stop the real big gains. Fuel delivery is the weak link, but by the same token unless you want 400+kW you don't need fuel pumps, rising rate regulators etc etc etc. But you can't water the garden through a drinking straw. Your mods so far are giving you good power though. Gets addictive don't it?
  11. Ah ha. Te Awamutu, Cambridge, Waitomo. Those lovely Kiwi back road highways. You gonna have some fun, enjoy it now. All the go fasty bits are available (at least Herrod bits) from the Ford dealer in Tamaranui Paul?????? Ford, worth while maximising a thrilling return on your investment
  12. You want the go you pay the dough. I have only heard good things about Nizpro stuff, in a free market I think we should have freedom of choice. 2 Ts and 2 engines, 1 destined for destruction. That is at least $125,000 just to get the R&D rolling. Too expensive no way. Good on you NIZPRO
  13. 6-8lb is it, next you should concentrate on getting it to breathe. When I first got the stage I without other mods the car would begin to lean out after 7lb. For the sake of engine life stay at where you are until you can open up your airbox at exhaust (from cat back) and fit bigger injectors so that the car can get fuel. No good just blowing lean hot air into the engine
  14. Poor ba$tard. Mate if that was my car I'd be screaming blue murder. I have a horrible suspicion that your fleet car feeling is correct, but this is no excuse. I bought one of three VR Late model camira Acclaims sprayed in Panther Mica from Armstrong Expensive Daewoo in Bris in 93 I think, anyway the car had paint dramas, the dealer didn't want to know. Holdens answer was to respray the car = stuff up, respray again still stuffed. Me lots of loud screaming demanded a relacement car. The answer from Holdens PR man went something like this. "LOOK MATE, WE DON'T CARE IF WE HAVE TO REPAINT THE CAR TEN TIMES, YOU OWN IT, AND IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A SCENE WE'LL JUST HOLD YOU UP IN COURT FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND YOU WON'T GET THE CAR RESPRAYED AT ALL! They did respray it correctly the third time, and unwittingly did me a big favour, cause guess how many of their mobile crap cans I've bought since. None, and I will never ever buy another. Ford definately respond better to warranty issues than GM in my book, and I bet if it was your own car it would be new engine No Question
  15. Me to, brand new diff on Wednesday, 95kph whine still there, curses to those who make these things, they've done it since the EB. My dealer didn't have the driveline balancer and you sure know it. Back Monday for the balance. I think I'll leave the diff and just crank the radio up, perhaps they should try lapping instead of replacing. Obviously there is a massive pile of BA diffs sitting somewhere with an inherent manufacturing fault. Still I'd rather have a whine than a break.
  16. So you should let him
  17. ducatijb. With just a stage 1 APS and no other mods you should get around 270-kW at the engine 210-220 at the wheels. Just ensure you get a good installer
  18. I can say with my UNICHIP running 9.5lb of boost that my T is making 330kW at the engine, I have a few other mods which probably take the car to APS's version of a stage two (including 411cc injectors). I watch the guys at FORMAZ tune the car and I have the dyno sheet, and the proof when I bury it. I also read on another thread someone a little brassed off that APS won't break their kits up, I believe in the end they will have to to remain competitive, in the meantime I know one particular person who couldn't spend another $3000 with them so went elsewhere. As far as the profit in these mods, regardless of who makes them. If you want a specialist product, you pay a specialist price. All of the workshops who have spent $50,000 + on a car and then untold hours doing R&D deserve to recoup their money and make a healthy profit (the nature of business). All the upgrades seem to have pros and cons, but they all also seem to deliver on their promises. To my way of thinking, regardless of the brand, you either do or you don't!. I did with APS and I'm more than happy. I've got a 330kW car that starts, idles, and drives like stock until you floor it. Then I have a wicked wicked street car and that is what I paid the money for

    Aps Phase I

Tyson, you guys just keep fitting those UNICHIPS and Injectors and other go fasty bits. Bloody absolutely fantastic job mate, you said I was straining to keep my neck forward on our test run yesterday. I now have the ultimate wife quietener. Point the car in the direction you want to go and then floor it. Mine was speechless for about five minutes
  20. Roll on the series 2, then all the bugs should be well and truly gone. Amazing how such small things can cause such a big panic, seems they always appear much worse than they are
  21. Good on you Dean. Northland A, lovely place. I did a three year stint at the Whangarei hospital, lived in the peaceful rural harmony of Maungaturoto (came back to Oz in 1987). Mate you are gonna love your car. Did you have to go down to Auckland to buy it? You are gonna find out that us Aussies can do more than just play sports Bro
  22. Yeah mate, at long bloody last. I see you use the dealer anyway, I think they are terrific, couldn't get the grin off Steve's face (or mine) yesterday arvo. Make sure you use Formaz when you go the upgrade. I'm relatively new to WA (ex Banana Bender) Apart from Kwinana do you know if there are ever any runs or meets happening over here?

    Aps Phase I

Sounds excellent..... the 350kw is this only with the exhaust mod or is this in addition to the Phase 1 and XR8 air box ? Also, what sort of cost would the exhaust mods cost ? Daniel Hi Daniel Mate it's with the xr airbox, UNICHIP etc. What I should have said was that the exhaust and fuel delivery system are capable of flowing 350kW. But the injectors will run out of capacity at about 290kW and the valve springs at abround 340 kW, there goes another $1600 to rectify those two significant issues. I'm making 330 kW at the engine now and have the car booked in for 12th Jan for intercooler, engine oil cooler, stronger valve springs, fuel pump etc. another $3000. Should get 400 kW. That will make the bank managers bum pucker

    Why Me

Hi Lion Welcome to the site. Mate every Falcon I've owned from the EB XR6 on has had a period noise in the diff, usually around 95kph. I got mine back from my dealer last week with a full replacement diff and all it did was lessen the noise and shift it back to 80-85kph. As far as the stalling- rough idle is concerned, mine went away with a UNICHIP. Don't take any crap from your dealer, you bought a $55,000 car. Demand they sort it and also demand a loan car while they are. My dealer always offers one, plus it will inspire them to hurry up and get it right. Hang in there mate, teething problems always sort out in the end.
  25. Well said Peter. Your product is terrific and although Reiner is more than helpful over the phone I think you should make sure that your interstate fitters who get exclusive distribution of the UNICHIP (a good idea) should also have some exclusive talents to fit them, because when you live 3000miles away from a manufacturer and begin to have dramas why should you have to continue forking out hourly rates and taking time off work to help mechanics experiment to get it right. My hourly consultancy rate is $250, times that by 15 lost hours + Cabs + the stress and an $1800 UNICHIP becomes a little costly @$3750 in lost income, although once it's sorted it's a terrific product. Obviously in every state there are good tuners and ordinary ones. For those so far away you should ensure that your installing workshops are more interested than just making money. Example 1) Organise a UNICHIP to be installed on a friday with promises of ready by 4pm. Get to dealer and car won't start, installer can't get a code from you guys till Mon morn = rental car + anger + planned & paid for weekend away stuffed up:dirtboy: Go to installer on monday, car running like a goat and pinging, blah, blah, blah. I think you guys should ensure your installers are properly trained. However you do have one exceptional outlet in Perth. The UNICHIP is great once it's sorted, but tools are only as good as the tradesman using them
