The VE SS is tipped to have a 5.3L V8 in it. The LS2 6L will be solely for use in the HSV models as the SS was coming too close to the Clubsport in terms of performance. Good to see the utes are getting TCS for the first time.

Oh I think there is potential to let a few japs tinker with the turbo. I'm sure they would be impressed with the car and its potential

Thanks, you all have been loads of help. Are the sports leather the same as the regular seats but just different fabric / leather? Or do they do a better job of holding your arse on the seat??

Well the dealer thinks Nov. I think Oct and have made this clear to them. So now they have to pull the finger out. I am thinking Rapid or Blaze. But yet to see blaze. And I sold my old ride last week so I am car less now. I call for Ford to release exact details. They must be waiting for something.

If that is the case then someone needs to send a few XRT to the land of the rising sun. Would be interesting what the japanese could achieve with these cars. Is the HKS unit the same?

Has anyone tried using a Power FC or other such japanese computers (can't remember the name of the HKS unit) with the Barra240??? I was thinking of giving this a go but am not sure if this is possible? Anyone had any experience with this? Or am I just being stoopid?

It should. I think it is about the same length as the 4.1 six. Width isn't a problem. Someone on here should have dimensions for the Barra240 or can get a tape measure out.

So do you think this is a good price and should I be trying a little harder? Don't think I can knock off much more than I have already got as it is a Mk2. Any other options worth considering? Don't know if premium brakes are worth $3K so wont get those. Cheers. :o

Hi All. Did a search but came up with nothing. What I am after are pictures of: - The sports steering wheel (not the momo) which retails for $695. Is the steering wheel worth the extra dollars? - Pictures of the sports leather seats found in the XR6 Turbo Ute which retail for $1,495. Are the options to get the bubble ones and ones without bubbles?? Cheers. Just trying to work out the options on my Mk2.

Could the low price be something to do with it being a turbo and the potential for it being thrashed??? This may be in the mind of potential second hand buyers. It is a performance car after all and isn't that why we buy these type of cars? Not that I am saying all our cars are not well maintained but I think it is part of owning a performance car! It may be hard to sell once you need to replace it. Just my 2 cents

That one looks like a custom spray. I saw an XR8 in rapid and it look sweet. Rapid is little more yellow than that one.

As the topic says, what are your thoughts on XR6T Ute in Rapid. Thinking of this colour. Others I am considering is envi and shockwave. Will also have a colour coded hard cover. I think it will look pretty good. A few well placed black stripes might do the trick also. Anyone got pics of a ute in rapid, envi and shcokwave??? I know rapid is not out but there was a pic floating around. Cypher... Is it :locked: or :locked: ?

I think the savings in the BA1 will outweigh the added resale of Mk2 in auto form. This may not be the case with the manual. I don't expect there to be any problems with the T56 as this is box has been behind some powerful production engines. But the low down torque may be an issue. I think Ford are well aware of the issues with the T5 and hence why the change was made. How many manuals do they really sell??

I had this problem also. BA1 or Mk2. I figure pay the extra dollars and get the better box. Will pay for itself in the long run. I also want to know if the VY2 SS T56 is similar feel to the Ford T56.

Am waiting for Mk2 as I want a manual. Apparently Mk2 is being launched on 7 October.

Well, time will tell. I think I am going to wait till we get closer to Mk2 release date to see what happens. But long term, I think the T56 will pay for itself. I suspect the T56 should attract better resale than the T5. I will definetly cope with extra torque from modifying.

Maybe the auto would be the safer option at this stage for a BA1. But I really want a manual and speaking to my local dealer, they could do a 04 plate ute in manual with sports leather, colour coded hard cover and premium sound for $41K drive away. Full retail drive away is something like $47.5K. That's $6.5K saving assuming no discounting on Mk2 but likely to see some like $1,000 to $1,5000 discount so $46K might be a more realistic price. That's still $5K better off. Dealer also went on to say that Ford is unlikely to discount the Mark2 for at least a few months. And fleet discounts are likely to be quite small also. The thing is that I doubt the Mk2 will be worth $6.5K more in trade in come 2 years time than the BA1. I guess the ultimate question is will an APS Phase 2 kit kill the manual in 2 years of driving say 10% hard driving?? I haven't heard of many manuals going boom yet but I may be wrong.

And I wanted the sports leather also. Oh well, you can't have it all I guess but we will have to wait and see. Well I thought that spending the extra $6K may not be worth the new box but I am unsure if Ford will be offer ABN holder discounts for the MkII when it comes out. Then there is resale to consider also. Off to the dealers tomorrow then.

I have a slight problem on my hands at the moment. I am after a manual XR6T ute and have been offered a new BA1 for about $6,000 less than equivalent BA Mk2 will cost when it comes out (estimated). I will basically only be adding a APS Phase 2 kit or equivalent and it will most likely see a drag strip once or twice a year. But I probably will tend to drive it with a fair bit of enthusiasm. It will probably spend some weekends driving fairly hard in the mountains / windy roads (lets say 20% of the time) including drive days. Oh and it might get it on the track and attempt to drift it (now I just want to try this to see how it feels in the ute!! if at all possible??) Should I get the BA1 or pay the extra and get the BA Mk2???? Is paying the extra dollars worth the T56 for what I want to use it for??? Read about $41K drive away for the BA1 with options included.
