  5. Hi all, Thanks eveyone for the comments. Nice to feel that I have someone on my side. FYI: My car is booked into another mechanic on Wednesday. I have rung the insurance company and they would like to see it Thursday Depending on what happens from these two, the car will either get fixed under insurance (Only cost me $250 excess) OR both parties will help me fight Ford NZ over this. When I explained things to the insurance company they were as surprise as I was. They have never heard of anything like this before. I'll keep you all updated on the progress. Thanks Chris
  6. But the question is How did it happen? I haven't hit anything and now Ford are trying to make me pay to fix it. How do I prove that it wasn't me??? I feel like pushing the bloody thing off a cliff cause: A: I don't have the money to fix it B: Don't see why I should have to pay for something I didn;t do. C: I paid $56k for this car and expect alot more. Don't get me wrong I loved the car, but am now sick and tired of all the problems with it.
  7. Hi there, My car has currently done 26,000 km's. I have been having issues with the car for about the last 8-10 months, but these were the brakes. Could these be related to any delivery damage? C
  8. Hi All, I have, like alot of people posting here, had lots of issues with the rear end of my XR6T. After some 12 visits to two different Ford Dealships, I was told yesterday that I have the following things wrong.... 1: Bent left rear axle 2: Damaged left rear Hub 3: Both left hand rims buckled 4: left rear disk needs replacing The question that I an struggling with is HOW? I have never hit anything with my car, sure I have scrapped the front rim againist the kerb, but at a very low speed, less than 5k's. This rim only had a scrap mark on it and has been changed with the spare, just for looks more than anything. The guy at Ford reckons that my car has been in a crash and as I have owned it from brand new I can assure you that it hasn't. They have told me that it is going to be $3500 + labour to fix it. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Could the brake issues that I have been having for the last 12 months cause this damage? They told me that I should claim insurance for the repairs, but I can tell you that they won't pay cause there is no visable damage to the car. So they, like me, will be asking HOW? To say I am a little F#$ked off would be an understatement. Where to from here. 1: I have asked an independant mechanic to check the car 2: Go back to ford and ask why/how? 3: Contact Ford NZ to find out what the hell is going on PLEASE if anyone has had something similar to this so I can go back to Ford and let them know that I'm not the only one who has had this happen. Thanks Chris

    Saying goodbye

Nah it was just one... The other Zoom was the cop car chasing it!!!!
  11. Well the end is near.... The XR6T is going back. I am changing it for a Mazda 6 Sporthatch Limited. In some ways I am very sad to see it go, but in others ways looking forward to the new car. The Mazda has things that should be on a $57K (NZD) car... Like Leather, Climate Air, Electric Sun Roof, Bose Sound System... Not extra cost options. And the biggest selling point NO service costs for three years (or 100,00Km's) and it is $10K less. I have also been a bit disapointed in the number of problems that I have had. I have had the car six months and in that time it has been in to Ford seven times to be repaired. Once again for a car costing that many $$$ it shouldn't have this many issues. I have onwed two Mondeo's before the Xr and never had a single problem. And they haven't been minor issues... Just about lost the engine due to the Water Pump failing... They still can't get the rear brakes right... It has had to have the alignment done three time (and no I haven't been hitting things, like Ford cliamed!!) It has had the wind screen replaced...And the list goes on. But it's not all negative... The XR is a great car to drive, heaps of power and looks great. I will miss having the power under my right foot.... So it's a sad goodbye to the XR and a happy Hello to the Mazda.
  12. Best plate I have seen was on a Fiat Bambina. The plate was "BUSPOO". I just about crashed I was laughing so hard. I have also seen "Phew" on a Citroen 2CV. Meant more at the time as it was working very hard getting up a steep hill... And last but not least "REKNAW"...try reading that in a mirror....

    Wind Noise

Hi All, I seem to be getting a strange noise from the bottom of my windscreen, Sounds sorta like a loose bit of trim vibrating but I haven't been able to locate it. Happens when I'm doing about 120k's and also if I'm driving into a head wind. It very annoying. Any suggestions? Cheers Chris
  14. The guy I am dealing with at Mazda told me there is a Turbo, 4WD version of the Mazda 6 coming late in '04. Now that would be nice. C
  15. Hi all, If anyone is looking for a new car for the wife, have a look at the new Mazda 3. Very nice little car. We are looking at one as my wife doesn't (thankfully) like driving the XR. The little Mazda has some features that I wish were in the XR, things like Climate Air. And as we have a seven month old son, three mounting points for the car seat, not just one in the middle, which is a real pain. Here in NZ the guy I am dealing with has sold 15 in one week, and they were only lauched a week ago. They have almost sold all the stock until the next shipment at the end of April...
