Hi all, My baby's due for her 45k service I'm looking for feedback on 45000 km standard service cost and quality of service, recommended dealer in melbs SE suburbs. I've done a search on the forum but most comments are re 15000 and 30000km services, Previous service costs have been on the wrong side of averages mentioned on the forum. Thanks Guys! Rick

Hmmmm, Had my 15000 km service at same place as Geea, Same pricing for everything BUT labour was double.....WTF. Service included: Oil Change and for following under warranty: Road test Check diff oil... (I mentioned the diff whine) reprogrammed PCM Checked Auto Checked Power steering fluid Checked Diff clunk Checked for (not fixed) dash creaks I'll be checking on the labour price as their overall customer service has been good so this was an unexpected result. PS. They forgot the tyre rotation that should be done at 15000! which was rectified at a later visit. Rick

Vic XRT, The guage was returned to gaugeworks due to noisy mechanism in the gauge, Should have the new one back by Fri, either way, the rest of the stuff is installed and easy to see, Will let you know whether I'll be around this weekend later in the week, Cheers,
-
Spoke to Luke, a few bad gauges got through the net, He has beed great about it and is replacing it asap. Cannot recommend their service highly enough :banghead:

Welcome to the forum Vic XRT, :banghead: If your in Ormond Vic, I'm just up the road in E.Bentleigh, Can give you a look at my installation of a gaugeworks gauge if that will help, PM me if you would like to catch up. Rick.

Thanks for all the feedback guy's, Will do the checks and then may speak to Luke, Cheers! Rick

Hi Guy's, Installed my gauge over the weekend (10psi, auto) after it was promptly delivered (Thanks PhantomXR6), seems to work well, sits on "0" when off, 6 at full noise but: Noticed 2 things: (1)Boost spikes up to 9 on occation (usually when you first give it a serious poke of the drive  ) (2) At full boost of 5-6, there is a rattling noise coming from the gauge, doesn't appear to be a leak as the needle looks quite stable, and the noise is not a "sucking" sound. Anyone had similar experience? BTW, other than these issues, the gauge is cool!!!

Recieved mine yesterday, can't wait to get it in, Looks like the colour match is perfect. Thanks again to PhantomXr6 for organising :locked: Rick

Huh 15W40 is not the same as 0W40, Other threads covered this, DavoWA has written this up from an insiders point of veiw, I was hoping to get confirmation that the 15W50 Motul I used would be ok, suspect it is as it meets all the ford requirements in terms of standards, and being a W50 should be a little better at high temps. Your thoughs?
-
Did I just read right on the "Can't get enough of this" XR6 TV advert, Top RH corner, "260kW available " or something like that. Has Ford started "chipping up" the 240 kW package? Cheers, Rick

Hmmm.....getting scared now!!! I have a new diff on order,....however the whine is still low levels so not sure I want to risk getting an unbalanced tailshaft (having finally had the boby vibrations fixed, tyre related) getting it replaced. Dealer was quick to accept that the diff was faulty, so maybe Ford has admitted internally that its common, in that case good on em'. Not that I'm complaining, I'm definately not happy with the whine, My whine's finished!

Hi Guy's, The oil debate is frustrating, appreciate the input from DaveWA and co who are in the trade and know more than the the rest of us, :holiday: Adding my 2 centipoise worth, agree to keep the viscosity to 15W40, but struggled to find a synthetic that had the spec. Ended going with Motul 300V which is 15W50, fully synthetic. figured that the 50 gives better protection at higher temps. DaveWA, would you agree with this? Downside....$150 for 2x4 L at Autobarn Anyone know where you can get a 15W40 fully synthetic in Melb (like Penrite Synth 5) or alternative, Thanks in advance, Rick
-
Hi Phantomxr6 Please put me down for a 10 psi one, I've got an auto, Thanks for organising, R U in Melb? Rick

Vibration still there, occational weird S#&T happens in the gearbox now, Not Happy Jan !!!!

Had a similar prob networking a wireless card lappie to a desktop connected to optuscable, and hence internet. Both computers using XP,could talk to each other but the lappie couldnt get on internet. Manually assigned IP addresses as per paranormal's advice, didn't fix Lowered firewall security from highest setting to medium (I'm using Zonealarm) Prob solved. Then lost ability to get server connection a month or so later, You need to have the service providers IP address rather than "mail" in you setup, optus were not keen to give it out until I finally got a service dude who knew what service ment! Hope this helps. Rick

Back to the thread...... 15000 kms service today, dropped the car off (at New Oak)with a list of items that need attention, (Driveline? Vibration, diff whine, surging, rough Idle, harsh gearchanges when driving 'lightly') Letting the dealer oil change occur as the current oil (magnatex) is a little dark after 10000kms, I'll use the dealer (semi synthetic) oil as a flush and go Castrol R next week I think. Was quoted $270 !! (with tyre rotation) Seems a little high, but if the probs are fixed I'll be happy. What are others paying?
-
Thanks for the opportunity Peter, I'll be there, Rick

Guy's, Good advice, starting to worry lots now, Had all 4 tyres replaced, wheels balanced by Ford and told it was spot on. Prob still there, Took it to a Tyre and Wheel centre (won't mention names) the following week and they found unbalanced sets on 3 of 4 corners, which an out of round tyre on passenger rear, which they managed to balance to zero. Problems better but still there!!! Suspect the tailshaft or what ktford said, Anyone else had the problem, swapped wheels and had it continue? Cheers, Rick
-
Had the same prob, VHT satin black fixed it, has not reappeared. Lot quicker than Ford service I might add.... Rick.
-
Hi White Tee, Sounds like you have the same prob as me, Thought it was tyre related, dealer changed all 4 tyres (not round) and probs better, but still there, 100-110 kms, and in my mind following acceleration when you settle into cruise, Dealer service manager says it's the tyre tread doing it.....what cr#p. (been back 3 times) Suspect a drive train prob, tailshaft?? I wonder if this has caused my diff to whine under load? 15000 km service this will so I'll be telling the dealer I don't want the car back until vibration and diff fixed. Will let you know if they find anything. Might also suggest to them that the "premium sound" is not premium to my partners AU1 standard system, I should not complain as these are the only real probs I've had....so far.
-
Gee, How widespread is this?? As you mention, this can and will become a safety issue, Is it a programming fault in the ECU? Rick
-
Has anyone had problems with the wheels being out of round? I had a new set of Dunlop sp3000 fitted by Ford (to their credit)on my 17's after 2 weeks because Ford could not get the body vibrations sorted (Tyres out of round), better, but still far from perfect, and now being told it's the tread pattern problem by the service manager (running at 39 psi). Is this a common problem?Suggestions would be welcome!

Hi Guy's and Gal's Gave my T a firm squirt when merging off a freeway (didn't hit the rev limiter) but the car ran on what was about 3 cylinders for about 10 secs, no power, lumpy as hell and I almost had to pull over (very embarassing!!) The car has 7000 kms on it. Anyone had this experience? Cheers, Rick
-
Thanks Guy's Was thinking about changing the oil and filter at 3000 and maybe 7000, 15000 between changes seems a bit much, so thanks for the tip Mondie, I'll check out Harasan's thread too. Cheers
