  1. Can't comment on the "power" or "speed" issue....but in my opinion, your fuel useage does not seem right. I have travelled 24,000k's since November (in Sydney traffic), and my spreadsheet calculations (verified by ORIX's reports) continually have me at 11's and 12's per 100km.
  2. Gaza, get her to do a tongue spit... Who....Jennifer or the Wife ?
  3. Jennifer Love Hewitt.....No. 2 son saw this and went screaming to his mum "Mum.....Dad's cheating on you"
  4. I think you've juat solved a problem for me with this question. I am also headed for the snow at the end of August and was not going to take the Turbo due to earlier comments from other Forum Members on the issue of the Mag Wheels getting damaged. As a result, I was going to take our AUII Futura. I guess it is possible to take the wheels off the Futura and put them on the Turbo ( assuming the nuts line up ). I hope this isn't a stupid question....but anyone see any problems with this ?
  5. Couldn't DISAGREE more with most that has been said. I have a 17 Year old son who recently lost his licence through his own stupidity ( more than 30k's over the speed limit while on P's ). So I have some indirect experience with this. Prior to him losing his licence, both my wife and I felt safe that he could come home at a predetermined time without relying on others to do so. I have no objection to the fact that he was fined, and I do not object that he has lost his licence. He will hopefully learn from his experience and appreciate the fact that the licence was a privalege and not a right. It is my belief that enforcing a curfew will disadvantage not only the "P-Plater", but other family members as well. Keep in mind that this does not just refer to the fact that we now have to take him everywhere....it also relates to the knowledge that he is not relying on the driving skills and antics of others. ( who may ehibit the same stupidity that he was caught for ). I would prefer to see strict enforcement of speed limits for "P-Platers" ( eg. Double demerit points after dark ) rather than a blanket "get off the road". How are they to gain experience driving at night if a curfew was enforced ?
  6. C'mon Joe....I know that you have been dying to come out of your shell. First there was Sonny and Cher.....now the XR6 Turbo Forum is proud to present ZENA and JOE !!!!!! :banghead:
  7. Must admit Cro, as I began reading your story I was about to offer another version of your story. I felt a little stupid though by the time I had read the whole story to see it was not something to be laughed at. I am glad you are all right and it makes us all realise how easily it is for our lives to change in an instant. Driving can be fun, but it can just as easily be so lethal. Again, I am glad you are ok and I hope you had a few choice words with the truck driver. Honest Gaza
  8. mmmmm..Maybe. The guy is often incoherent. Perhaps Voy with his obedient Hobbit ?
  9. Nah Ken, I know it's not you. This guy is a right real jibberer.
  10. Man....I knew I should have come on this one. Pictures look great. For those who appreciate irony, and know what a tough time I have with No.3 Son travelling in the car. I may have stayed at home this weekend, but that didn't stop him CHUCKING UP FIVE TIMES IN THE SPACE OF 3 HOURS ON SATURDAY NIGHT. ( Good thing I gave this one a miss afterall ). Sure would like to put my hand up to go on the same venture in the future. Let's get ready !!! PS. Did you find Singleton along the way or did I miss it again ?
  11. Thanks Cro. Does your explanantion of power strength also apply to the repeater channels ? ( ie. me with the Handheld, you with the In-car both transmitting on Ch 7 ) Can you also explain what is meant by "dropping carriers". Occasionally you can hear one of the other users saying "who is dropping carriers".
  12. Don't believe him boys.....he's no K1W1. Farm shot in the background and not one sheep.
  13. Cro....or whoever ??? Now that I am the proud owner of a handheld CB for our beloved Turbo cruises, I find myself cruising to work and surfing through the various channels as a way of passing time in the Sydney traffic. Can someone please enlighten me on the following ponderances that I ponder upon : When using the Duplex Repeater Channels ( eg 07 in Sydney ), what determines who can be heard amongst all of the people trying to have their say ? Is it a case of he with the most powerful transmitter reigns supreme.....or is it first in ? There always seems to be a "raving" lunatic who manages to hog the channel and waffle on and on about nothing.....something that appears to be the case on several channels. With a handheld Scanner ( eg Uniden 044 ), is there any chance of being heard by others or am I wasting my endless talents and wit on myself ? A brief summary would be appreciated. Honest Gaza

  15. Bless me Bob for I have sinned. I have had impure thoughts. This morning I had to wash my car and I so wanted to use that hose. My lust and desire was almost uncontainable. The washing of the roof was easy. Gentle caressing, soft rubbing…..some of it on the car too. My moment of weakness came when I rubbed the sponge on the bottom of the side skirts and looked in horror as the sponge came away with black marks all over it. My immediate thought was “how bad are the wheel arches going to be ?” I tried the plastic watering can at every conceivable angle but that only twisted my wrist. I hurled the water from the bucket into the wheel cavity but scraped my knuckles on the ground. Meanwhile…all the time it was calling me….”you want me don’t you” I fought extremely hard against the urge to reach out for it. I racked my brain trying to think of other ways to get pressurised water up past the wheel. My neighbours rang the cops when they saw me lying on my back with my pants around my ankles trying to pee upwards with as much gusto as I could muster. ( I tell you my face was as red as a throbbing pen*s ). It’s impossible, I’m sure. Without the hose, the wheel arches are destined to a life of misery. I fought the urge this time Bob….but I don’t know how much longer I can hold out…..
  16. This was a recurring problem with my AUII Futura. Ford dealer always adjusted under warranty.
  17. Would love to join you at Krispy Kremes Scruffman...but ain't going on this cruise unfortunately. Maybe I'll visit KK during the weekend and have one for you.
  18. of course it's a man....and it's name is simply "the Turbo"
  19. Ah what the hell. I was going to let this thread slide through but sometimes my fingers have a mind of their own. Let me start by saying that I have had absolutely no problems with my XR6-Turbo up until now, so this post can in no way be misconstrued as sour grapes. But given the problems that have been documented on this site, I realise that this could change overnight. It seems that the two main problems that have been discussed on this site are : 1). Brake shudder 2). Diff Whine Regardless of the percentage of vehicles produced, versus vehicles experiencing the problems, the fact that there does not seem to be an acceptable solution to either, is in itself justification for some owners to express dissatisfaction. FACT - People who have had their diffs replaced should expect marked improvement from the replacement units but this is often not the case. FACT - People who experience brake shudder have had repairs done with the knowledge that this same problem may occur again and again in the future. I find it incomprehensible ( I have always wanted to use that word ), that people try to justify these problems on some threads by saying it is only a $50,000 car. These problems should not happen on a $20,000 car. Recurring problems that are known problems ( and Ford must be aware of them by now ), are unacceptable and should be resolved. Look at the recent problem that Expensive Daewoo identified with the Commodores. They have been recalled and there will be no further discussions on the issue. PROBLEM IDENTIFIED....PROBLEM FIXED....PROBLEM GONE ! Yes, the percentage of people that are experiencing problems are no doubt in the minority....but their "gripes" are understandable. As to whether or not I enjoy driving my Turbo.....damn right ! Would I buy another....damn right ! As I stated up front....I have had no problems up until this time. Accept that my answer is as biased as the answer of someone who has had problems. Honest Gaza
