  1. Hi XtRmn8, The setup will work ok. The easiest thing to do regarding the audio is to run the Ipod through the DVD players AUX Input and the DVD player output directly into the BA AUX input. This way you simply press the AM button for DVD or Ipod sound without the need for nasty switches. hope this helps, Cheers
  2. Hi Theo F6, Nice Vid! With a good take off I did a 13.2 @104.8mph with a dead standard typhoon, Timeslip With race tyres, I recon I could do a 12.9...but no one would believe me!!! Cheers
  3. In stock form, the manual will always be faster than the auto if driven properly. Boost loss between gear changes is a myth and only happens if you take too long to change. If a manual robs less power than an auto, then its clear why it must be faster. As engine power levels increase it's a different story, the power loss between the auto and manual becomes less significant so the auto is easier to run and repeat. So, a standard Xr6t manual should be faster than the auto..in theory and in practice...practice is the key word for a manual. cheers
  4. congrats!! Don't take my advise..I simply drove it normaly (Hard!) from the moment they gave me the keys. It ran a 13.2 at calder with only 2000k's on it, but I'm confident all F6's can do if driven well. I don't thrash when cold..that's my only rule!!! Enjoy your new ride...I still do. cheers
  5. Good stuff F6UTE I have done 3500k's in mine and so far so good. Only problems I had are the glovebox did not open from new, and today, the steering wheel adjuster handle just flopped down (The nut that holds it is loose). Apart from that, I love thrashing the crap out of it. The gearbox is sensational IMO. The clutch is also very good but requires a bit of practice to perfect a launch. (Till this date, I have not lost a race against a Holden, even from a standing start VZ-SS + VZ UTES...No Problem!!) The most dissapointing part of the vehicle is that the engine seems too relaxed - Underworked!! - I know this could be fixed up with edit, but I would have liked more power from Ford!!! All in all, compared to my previous car (A Expensive Daewoo SS ) The F6 is a sensational allrounder with a 13.2 ET to prove it. We must never forget that we are talking about an Australia made taxi here!! Good work Ford! Cheers
  6. Sensational!!! Good work.
  7. David, I was discussing this same point with my mates last night. We are tempted to put my MT Street radials on, and go out and see what it can do. I am with you, 12.9 1/4 out of a dead standard typhoon with sticky tyres is a very real possibility. If I get stressed enough, I might just do it!. Try and convince people that a standard F6 runs 12'zz.!!!! It will be impossible! Cheers
  8. As long as it holds together, I don't care too much about the slack in the drivetrain. ..I knew it would have slack even before I bought the car. Didn't you guy's??
  9. Hi Quiksmurf, I have no doubt your times will decrease with a bit of practice. Main thing to remember is not to drop the clutch like you did. This can only result in a uncontrolled wheelspin or a bogdown. When you are at the line ready to take off, just imaging you are on the street and you need to cross an itersection quickly without spinning - you normally ride the clutch! This also allows the 550mn to bulid up smoothly. I also get very nurveous when I race sometimes with uncontolled shakes on my legs..Makes it very interesting!! My main reason for posting is to give the F6 the recognition it deserves not to brag about my driving ability - There are other guy's a lot better than me! . cheers and good luck, g
  10. Hi Venom, My F6 is not that freaky. I had it dynoed with 224rwk the best result..the same or simillar to others on this forum. Have you driven an F6? I am willing to drive anyone's F6 down the 1/4 and I guarantee an 13.5 or better. How is it possible for the F6 with 270Kw to be faster than the 290 Expensive Daewoo ls2? I think I have an answer. The torque at low revs! If you take a look at the time slip, you will notice that the take off was 1.9x seconds@60ft. This was done by riding the clutch to allow the turbo to spool up and also reduce the chance of wheel spin by simply dumping. The clutch is fully released when the road speed equals aprox 2500rpm (max torque), at this point, if you haven't broken out in wheelspin, you floor the accelerator and use every ounce of that fat torque curve to slingshot. Another very important fact is gear changes. I don't want to give myself a big head, but I have practiced doing "Very Quick" flatchanges and normal changes every day of my driving life. I did not flatchange when I did the 13.2, but I did change as fast as possible. The F6 also has a big advantage with the clutch takeup being so high..It is imposible to miss a gear because the clutch is disengaged when your foot is only half way down. If I remember correctly, I even chirpped in 4th. During my run, I did not look at my tacho at all. After driving the F6 for a while you get to know the engine, coupled with the rev beeper I think its a magic combination. The way I use the beeper...1st gear I change as soon as I hear the beep...2nd gear I wait almost a second after the first beep..into third a little longer and so on. You really have no excuse for hitting the rev cutout during a run. Anyway..I say this again...STOCK STANDARD F6 13.2@104 BTW. My MPH is exactly the same as the magazines..Doesn't this say something? All the modified T's show much higher MPH?? The F6 is a great all round machine real quick if drivven properly. I love it! Sorry for any spelling mistakes Chers
  11. Nice...VeryNice. But, what is it like on the street? cheers
  12. Hi Qiksmurf, Oh Sh#t...You make my life very difficult! Better luck next time...Ride The Clutch and listen to your gear change beeper!! With a bit of practice, mid/low 13's are no problem.
  13. Hi F6 Rapid, Welcome to the low 13 second club.......For starters. Love the colour! Cheers
  14. Hi Qiksmurf, I am relying on you to prove that my car is stock...You can do it! My advise if you want it , your takoff must be contolled without wheelspin. Ride the clutch but don't floor it of the line, wait until the car is moving, release the clutch, then nail it. I try to imagine that the is on coming trafic and I need to cross the intersection as quickly as possible without wheelspin. The other great thing is the gearbox..you can change very quickly without fear of missing the 2 to 3rd change. I'm sure you will get 13..Even my worst run with wheelspin through all of first was a 13. Good Luck!! Cheers G
  15. No Problem, any Mag that want's me to cain thier cars..please call!! To get a good time with a manual turbo, you must ride the clutch for 1/2 a second before fully releasing, then the car just slingshots. If you simply dump the clutch (like the mags do) you will end up with a sh#t ET. I have no doubt that more F6 owners can do the same with the standard car.. I need this to prove that my car is stock! I have all ready had an XR6T owner say that I'm full of crap because his car has more power and he get same results. Anyway. This is just the evidence we all needed to prove that a standard ford can cut it with the V8 heavy wieghts of HSV. I love it. Cheers, and thanks.
  16. yeah..it was a Holden...says it all. POS
  17. You anti-social guy's. I ran my car and no one came to say hello!! I am very upset now. I was a good night anyway. Cheers
  18. I don't know any of you...why didn't you guy's come and say gooday?? Next time.... I will be taking out my cortina for a few squirts next time. To tell you the truth, I am more than happy with the F6 power so I probably won't be running it again. I just did it to set the record straight! I,ll see you next time. Cheers
  19. STANDARD TYPHOON 13.2 @104.8
  20. Hi All, I had enough of magazines and Expensive Daewoo blokes talking about the F6 and how slow it is. With this in mind, I needed to confirm my feelings that this vehicle is a lot quicker than most people realize. The venue was calder park tonight. Please note that my car is absolutely standard, normal premium petrol (Not good stuff like optimax) no modifications except removing the number plates. First run and 13.2@104.8mph. I tell you what, I was happy to go home after one go. The other two runs I had were also in the 13's but not as good due to me trying different launch techniques. With a perfect takeoff, a flat13 is not out of the question..NOT BAD FOR A STOCK TAXI!!! WELL DONE FORD!!!!! We better let the Expensive Daewoo boys know! Cheers
  21. hi, This exhaust noise is normal for the ford sixes...if you don't like it, you will need to add another resonator. g
  22. Hi Chris, I have plenty more ideas for this vehicle...just not enough time! Hope this works! Cheers Ford_Screen_Fit.ppt
  23. I will try and post it again 2morrow. Sorry!
